REPORT: Edelman Injury Believed to be Torn ACL

Ian Logue

Friday night may have been one in the win column for the preseason for the Patriots, but it appears they may have suffered a significant loss for the regular season.

It's a violent game, played by young men of flesh and bones.

That's why we should be so grateful for what we've known these past 16 seasons.

Hopefully, Edelman will be back in a few weeks and it's not a season ending injury.

But, if it is, it will either be one more case of Next Man Up or we will have the memory of that amazing catch.

Either way, while I'd vastly prefer one outcome over the other, I'm happy.

I just hope Julian is ok and has a happy and fulfilling life. God bless you, Jules... and thank you very much.

I choose to believe he did not tear his ACL.

God damn, I hate it, I saw the play, I think he cut too hard and his knee somewhat gave out...
People forget that Edelman suffered many injuries at the beginning of his career.
At this point I am glad we have a deep receiving core, still you can't replace someone like Edelman easily because he does the dirty work a lot in the middle, blocking for other receivers and so on...

This season will have a lot of road blocks, but I have faith in BB to be able to get this team where it needs to go at the end of the season.

fake nudes? is this a non sequitur? how does one fake a nude? you're either naked or you're not...not fake naked...I want some of your weed...

Watching the Detroit announcer Pats replay right now and its so enjoyable without constant shots of Edelman in a tent or on a golf cart and its just a Brady lovefest..

Yeah it was great. I'd say it was 50% pats love fest, 25% Spielman actually talking football and 25% discussing what the Lions need to do.

The production values also felt more like a regular game than the Fauria and Co High School Talent Show.

I choose to believe that I'm the one who hit the Powerball on Wednesday night. Also, that my wife will eventually come around to the idea of letting me hang a "boobs of the day" calendar on our front door (my idea, don't steal it).

If there is any semblance of truth to this being an ACL (and other ligaments), and all indications as I've seen the play over and over seem to be that there just might be, what we are losing most of all is the yards after catch. There are a lot of good route runners and good hands on the team. But what nobody does better than Jules (and I haven't seen every Cooks game) is yards after catch. He's one of the biggest reasons why NE was tops in the league in YAC last season. That guy is elusive and has great strength to break tackles when defenders do manage to get their hands on him. He moves the chains probably better than anyone in the league. We get that in Gronk too in a different way, but Jules was Brady's primary third down guy. I don't see that as much in Hogan (though I think he's going to have a monster season statistically), I would think we get good YAC from Cooks because he's just so explosive, who knows what we get out of Mitchell with that nagging knee, and Amendola has lost his burst. He's mostly a clutch catch, precision route runner type now. So big loss for NE's offense if Jules misses the season.

I knew something had to put a damper on things. There was all this buzz and the pessimist in me couldn't shake the feeling that something had to give. In this case, it just happened to be Jules' knee. This f-ing sucks. I believed that injuries and bad OL play would be the only things that could stop NE, similarly to 2014, 2015, 2016. NE still should have no problem reaching the promised land if they don't sustain many other key injuries, but this definitely makes the offense a little less scary. DC's around the league must be breathing a little easier, and the haters are probably loving it. F*CK. *Sigh*

You know in a billion dollar industry like the NFL I don't know why they can't do a damn MRI within hours of the injury. Then again, I've never had an MRI so I don't know how much more complicated it is than your average x ray

Why ? What is the rush ?

The injury wont get magically better or worse just because it is diagnosed a day earlier. There is no reason to rush, it is just our ****ed up society nowadays that needs everything delivered instantly. Take your time, get home from Detroit and do tests at a hospital with doctors you trust not in some room in a stadium.
