Gilmore was one of the more frustrating draft prospects for me to evaluate a few years back. Sometimes I would think he was going to be the next Revis / Law / Sanders, and other times he looked lost. If he can show some consistency under Belichick, then watch out! He could make his contract look like a bargain, when he plays at his peak. Nice closing speed on that pass breakup posted above.

I don't think BB/Patricia put players in position to fail like that. He also has McCourty to diagnose offenses and he gets the read right most times. Having Gilmore's speed and skillset topped with McCourty is a huge advantage. It's been a rarity to see deep completions/td's vs this defense and I don't expect that to change. As long as he plays within the system he is going to be a beast.

Jesus can we maybe pump the brakes? Just a little??

The word "if" was included. Everyone assumes our 5 wideouts are set in stone. No one seems to be allowing for the possibility a real gem is uncovered. But we do sign these new players hoping that exactly that happens. And sometimes it does. I honestly think some would prefer parting with Brady than Amendola.

Hmm...wonder what happened. Maybe the alarm clock thing aka Jonas Gray? BB don't play that type of stuff.

just fooling around w press Id guess . interesting

hm . maybe not

if indeed held out . this Ealy (and edge) thing is starting to sound worrisome (relatively speaking of course) ..

Amendola has an edge in blocking that you can't see without pads. Amendola is the best blocking wr I have EVER seen in a pats uniform. It can come in handy more than ever now that we have someone like Cooks that could could go all the way if he gets a good block on a bubble screen/reverse etc or he could be the key block to spring Gilislee.

I have always been on the fence with him. He doesn't get much separation at all but he wins the majority of 50/50 contested balls thrown his way. He is so much like HInes Ward with added st ability. I think he sticks one more year.

Ironically, if he keeps showing up it will most probably mean that he will be too hard to move to the practice squad and will be claimed by another team. No space for young WRs on the roster unless there is an injury.

It is not impossible but unlikely. It would take a great deal for me to let Amendola go. He is just too dependable. If you keep Carr over Amendola it is possible he will be called upon to make a key catch in a playoff game if injuries happen.

I am 100% comfortable having Amendola do that. Carr at this point I have no reason to be comfortable. He would need to show so much upside that the question becomes irrelevant and he hasn't shown that yet. Maybe he will but not yet.

I thought BB drafted Intelligent players seems like Cyrus the virus is more Brawn than Brains.
Sometimes, believe it or not, it's a good sign when young guys start getting chippy.

Toughness and playing with a chip on his shoulder has always been part of the Cyrus Jones package all the way back to college at Alabama. I actually think that is why BB drafted him was to bring toughness to the secondary (he is a great run stopper and tackler) and the kicking game (where he was absolutely fearless in college).

Of course he struggled last year in the kicking game (and it obviously got in his head), and he has some real competition in the secondary this year, so it remains to be seen if he reaches his potential here or not. I still have hopes.

great take . since one thing that stood out negatively to me watching Carr's tape was his poor blocking. he looks like he lifted some weight recently compared to last yr but he has to toughen up & seriously improve blocking attitude and technique if he wants to see the field here..

Does anyone know if they have a separate autograph section by the pro shop this year or are they just doing them by the field?
