The teams that can adapt and change week-to-week based on opponent's weaknesses will be the most successful teams.

No "system."

I have long thought that Belichick's so-called system is actually having "no-system."

Even the passing game is this way. The routes have options, based on WRs and QBs reading the defense in live action. It is about taking advantage of the space given, not setting routes written in stone.

The interesting thing about this soccer school for coaches is that it isn't just hot air either. The coaches that graduate from this academy succeed at a very high rate, far higher than the Italian players in world soccer. Consider, Ranieri and Conte have both won the British Premier League in back to back years with Leicester and Chelsea. Pochettino at Tottenham finished second this year. Juventus is in the Champions League championship game in a few weeks. Ancellotti at Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga again and advanced far into Champions League.

You could easily argue that the coaches at this academy are the best collection of coaches in the world.

Italy's won the World Cup 4 times (Runners-up 2 times), won the UEFA European Championship (Runners-up 2 times) and an Italian soccer team has won Champions League/European Cup 12 times (Runners-up 15 times). I understand the point of your opinion but I can't agree with your Italian player success rate comment. That whole country learns how to defend before even contemplating offense which strangely, seems to mirror BB; take away what your opponent does best.

Pochettino is Argentinian, and a inanimate carbon rod could win the league with Chelsea, as long as he keeps the players sweet.

Although I agree with your overall point that Italy do produce a lot of high quality coaches. Scotland punches way above its weight in that regard too. Maybe they're not always in the biggest jobs but there are an awful lot of good Scottish coaches out there.

I lived in Italy and I was a huge AC Milan fan at the time.

The entire team was practically from Holland. The originators of ticky-tack!

And yet Mourinho had a disappointing season with the Chelsea team last year.

I'm not really singing the praises of Conte (he drinks too much coffee before games), but rather the philosophy of this coaches academy.

Exactly. He fell out with the players and they downed tools. It was disgraceful really, even though Mourinho is an arsehole.
