Another year with Amendola: WR signs reduced contract

I think all six stick, that's a really solid WR corps to bring into the season, and since Slater isn't really a WR they'd really only be carrying 5, which is about right for a team with as many 3 and 4 WR sets as we have.

Plus three of the RB's and both TE's can split out wide. There are plenty of bodies.

Wow, I forgot he made that clutch 4th and 3 catch in the super bowl. That 2 pt conversion though was the biggest in history

I think one of the most underrated third down conversions by Amendola was that 3rd & 6 at the Ravens 44 back in the divisional game in 2014. 7 minutes before the end down 28:31 Dola makes one Ravens player that has his arms on him miss, then pushes through contact of the other and extends his arms barely past the first down marker.

1 or 2 plays later Brady throws the game winner to LaFell.

Re-watching the most recent Super Bowl you see over and over where Amendola makes super clutch plays and is on the same page as Brady to an amazing degree. Most important: the 2-point conversion, played perfectly by him in spite of being tackled by two guys. Just enough to get in the end zone. Just right play call, just right play execution.

One thing Dan Quinn said after the SB was how great the Patriots' execution was. That's something you see over and over, on both runs and passes.

I'm genuinely happy to read about this, he's been so under appreciated by so many, here's hoping to his crucial role in SB LI and many more before that to be finally recognized by the GDT all-stars...yeah...I should lower my expectations... :D

I know I posted that I felt that Amendola was gone with the signing of Cooks.. I didn't say it because I hate Danny.. I just don't see how the Patriots can get snaps to the likes of Mitchell, who is a buddying young player, when you need to get snaps to Amendola, Cooks, Edelman and Hogan as well..

I hope that this doesn't hurt Mitchell's development going forward because I believe that Cooks, Hogan and he are the starters of the future.

Under appreciated?? 3 years ago OK. Now - more people on this board are wanting to cut Brady in 2018 than DA. Seriously, IF everyone stays healthy this year, may be hard for him to find snaps. But that is a big if. I do not think it is that DA so much steps up in the playoffs - I think they consciously target him more. And he is a very good player on a team now stacked at receiver.

A true Patriot. Hope he retires a Patriot when the time comes.

WR roster cut downs will be interesting to see, if/when anyone flashes a lot of potential during training camp.

Cooks
Edelman
Mitchell
Hogan
Amendola
Slater

The # of WR on the final roster has been 6 each of the last 3 seasons. There are 6 guys listed above - any cuts likely? Who's your first cut?
Slater shouldn't count at that position. I'd be thrilled to start the season with those first five.

Danny Amendola was never the Wes Welker replacement [some] had hoped for when we signed him. But he's given us more clutch plays than we could've expected.
Amen! Did not need another blown Superbowl.

Whoever that Slater guy is will have a tough time cracking the lineup at WR. Is he any relation to the special teams captain?

Count them however you want. Over the last 3 seasons, the Patriots have had 5 WR + Slater on the team. The point is that they're seemingly unlikely to carry 6 WR + Slater, given prior team building history, so anyone new will have to take the spot of one of the guys currently on the roster, listed above.

Great news, Danny clutch!!!!!!!!!

The problem may come if someone like Lucien flashes serious potential in camp. You may lose him if he is not on the 53 - and might be a player for a few years. If DA is not going to get a lot of balls - do you risk losing a future starter to keep him. Having said that, I believe DA plays with NE in 2017 - but not as surely as last year.

There was a lot of people on here clamoring for his release when he started Training Camp on the PUP.

What a difference nearly a year makes...

Here's your solution: list Slater as a safety. He's spent time at that position and has been just as (in)effective there as he has at WR.
