Patriots interested in Chargers OL D.J. Fluker [update: signs w/ Giants]

I am sure they have plenty of NFL film on him, but it helps that BB's friend Saban can give him a very in depth review of Fluker.

The problem there is that someone will pay him to be a starter with how crazy this market has been. Not worth the $ to be a 6th OL here IMO.

Depends how many years we're talking.

Just another Alabama bust out. he stinks and anyone who thinks otherwise is being delusional

What would he play here? Guard? Not sure he's any better than Mason or Thuney.
Could be a 6th guy - could also be a Guard with Thuney or Mason moving to Center. They were both candidates to move to center leaving college and could add beef to the middle. Though Brady loves Andrews.

Wonder if they think they can move him back to tackle as Solder free agency insurance.

Oh snap, I didn't know that. Is Victor Cruz still on the books? They could dump him maybe. But f'ck, why do I even care? This is the Patriots. Carry on, people.

Cruz is already gone, they dumped him a week or 2 ago.

Hes not leaving NY without a contract

Giants don't have a lot of Cap Space (currently a little under $9 million, according to "Over the Cap").

Not as high on Mason moving forward as many seem to be. Would have thought seeing him get pushed around in the SB would open up more eyes at the least. Feel like he could easily be left on the bench in favor of someone who could be acquired without breaking the bank or giving much up in return.

As Brady enters the age of 40, would hope the OL is the utmost priority.

Couldn't agree more. That oline has to be rock solid. I feel we could use more depth.

Swing tackle and if Dante can work him up like he did with Cannon he might be a bit of insurance against Solder leaving next year.
Under no circumstances whatsoever is Fluker a Left-side lineman.
He's a RG/RT only.

Very disappointed, but not surprised, that Bill didn't sign LG/C Stefen Wisniewski.
He doesn't solve the backup LT problem, but he would've solved both the backup LG and the backup Center problems.

Those of us who guessed "Giants" have earned a cookie:

OT DJ Fluker agrees to a one-year deal with the Giants, source says. Former 11th overall pick gets a chance to reset his career.

Given the way they're spending everywhere else, I have to believe they like Karras, Flemming and/or Waddle more than we think.

That, and. . .

BB traditionally throws multiple answers at a problem area (usually, overlooked FAs, draftees [round dependent on position and how bad problem is] , and UDFAs) and then waits to see who shakes out in camp as the solution--dipping back into trade market mid-season if he didn't get it right. That is how we landed Malcolm butler, he was a UDFA being thrown at the cb issue, along with other guys no longer here.

This year he jumped big in the front end FA market, particularly with trades for hi profile answers to problems.

But No one views the OL has a BIG PROBLEM, but just a weakness. So I think his traditional approach is more likely and since he doesn't usually jump on those undervalued overlooked FAs until later in the FA period. So, . . .

PATIENCE, GRASSHOPPER!
