I wouldn't be surprised if it was the number of years (and guarantees) that Hightower and Bill are bickering about. I think Bill would happily do $12-13M AAV as long as he's not stuck with a used up has been 3 years into a 5-6 year deal.

If the Pats sign Hightower I am not saying they don't need help at LB but they are well set up to have their options open going into the draft for what they want to do.

2 days into a great offseason, this might be the best news yet.

If we re-sign HT and retain Butler, it's gonna be HARD to curb the enthusiasm

If they do that and get a DE and LB they like in the draft this D will be nasty, I mean NASTY!

Holy Crap - - if they re-sign HT and Butler (after getting Ealy and perhaps Odrick as upgrades over Sheard and Long).....all they have to really do is go shopping in the draft for two stud LBs and this Defense may be historically good this season.

.

Is Miami still going hard after Hightower?

My useless opinion. He kinda wants to leave. However, his market is drier than he thought and may end up coming back somewhat begrudgingly for about the same amount he was offered in the offseason.

I think he's praying a much better deal comes in, but at this point that is unlikely.

hightower has played in 45 of 56 games which is more than 75% including 100% of the 8 playoff games that WR won 7 of.
You are just being argumentative, Andy. I specifically stated the last 3 years, where the 75% number is accurate.

In fact over the last 3 years Donte Hightower and Rob Gronkowski BOTH have missed 10 games. So why are people becoming loathe to give Gronkowski any more money, yet want the Pats to pay High top dollar?

See I can use figures to make a point too, even if it isn't relative.....IF I wanted to be argumentative.

Dont forget adding Cooks or Hopkins?
Cooks, I can understand, since he'd be coming reasonably priced for the next 2 yrs, assuming they pick up his 5th year option by the beginning of May. That would make his average around 5m for the next two seasons.

Hopkins, OTOH, may be in line for the top WR deal at the end of the year. At the very least, he'll command 14-15m dollars a year. It's difficult for me to imagine this team paying that. It's even more difficult for me to imagine them paying that while also giving up a first/Butler.

It's not 75%
45/56 = 80%.
Or do you think playoff games don't count?
Take away at least 2 missed games because he was resting before the playoffs not due to injury and it is pretty much a non issue.

You don't see the difference between gronks major injuries and Hightower minor ones?
And Hightower has never missed a playoff game.

Maybe Hightower wants to play in warmer weather and have off from January to July every year.

You think dont'a Hightower would prefer to not play in January and February? Ok I will disagree.
