I agree. I think Butler for Cooks is a win for the Saints. Butler is a better CB than Cooks is a WR. Butler is with more.
If Cooks was 3 inches taller he would be the most sought after receiver in the NFL

They are ehh about it...they are more arguing about their cap space it seems
Is he known as an elite corner? I knew he could play but didn't think he was a 14+ guy.

A slight downgrade, but nothing dramatic.

Chung's number is small ($3.8m) for 2018
McCourty's $12m and $13.5m for '18 and '19

It's not an issue.
Sure it's an issue.
You can still do what you proposed but the question is whether it's wise.
1/3 of the cap in the secondary isn't a great plan.

I think he meant BB. Saints want more and BB is not offering enough for Butler.

Question: After 4 pm can BB still trade Butler? Has to be before, correct?

Yes he can trade after 4...that's when it begins.

Exactly, I would take it in a heartbeat if I were them.

Offense has been far from their biggest issue the last few years. It's been their putrid defense. Getting Butler would be a huge move for them.

He is an RFA. That makes a difference. You ttade player and contact and butler comes with the dynamic that you either pay him big money or it's a 1 year deal.
Giving our first and getting their second is only a trade down of about a dozen spots.

Yeah but Butler about the 5th best CB and Cooks is about the 20th best WR. That is a drop in overall talent so you would think that offsets contracts somewhat. IF equal players sure I'd agree but they are not equal.

I don't think it makes it a horrible move (cause you get Cooks for 10M for 2 years) but I would say the Saints slightly won the trade.

Plus consider the teams they were on, who was coaching them, who the safetys were behind them. and one of them faced TB 2x a year.

I don't like this at all, my cousin is a bills fan and when we talk cb he always tells me gillmore doesn't have half the compete level of butler.

I'm really unhappy if we pay Gilmore and lose butler.

Butler > Gilmore by a mile.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Bill, what are you doing?!?!?!

that is all opinion

Ryan Hannable had an interesting suspicion -- Butler and NE #1 (#32 overall) for Cooks and NO #2 (#42 overall).
Ryan Hannable is just pulling sh!t out of his ass. There is NO WAY the Pats trade the 32 for Cooks, let alone Butler and a pick. That would be LUDICROUS. God, for a F*cking WR,
