Bills FA CB Stephon Gilmore signs 5-year deal w/New England

that is all opinion

Yes it is. You can have a different one and that is fine.

I am not saying we get fleeced if that is the trade I just think Butler should be good enough as is. To move down those 12 spots would make it a slight loss to me. Also as a fan of Butler and all he does it would be kind of insulting to need to throw in a kicker to move him.

Sure it's an issue.
You can still do what you proposed but the question is whether it's wise.
1/3 of the cap in the secondary isn't a great plan.
League favors quick strike passing offenses so unless you have a devastating pass rush......can count on one hand teams with those......your secondary becomes your first line of defense against the pass happy O's so that is where you put your money.

It's not an issue. One need only look at the team's cap breakdown to see that.

No, the numbers say Butler was significantly better.
What numbers are you looking at?
I'm looking at the ines that say butler allowed more completions for more yards more tds and had less ints.

I was curious how that works with the tender.

I believe the contracts have to expire first before they do the trade, which also happens at 4PM today. Kind of like a chicken, then egg sort of thing.

Well clearly we disagree about whether cap management is a long term or short term issue so we can just agree to disagree.

A slight downgrade, but nothing dramatic.

Yeah I would agree. I put Butler 5th and Gilmore about 10th. Both are #1 CBs. Butler to me is more overall skills but Gilmore has more of an ideal body and size so can do things Butler can't.

I think you can win a super bowl with Gilmore as your #1. That is the most important thing.

Does PFF have any kind of run defense rating for CB's?

I'm concerned about the difference between Butler and Gilmore when it comes to tackling ability, especially if the secondary loses Logan Ryan in the coming days.

Last image of SG I have is Hogan smoking him.

Here's where I saw that.

He is an RFA. That makes a difference. You ttade player and contact and butler comes with the dynamic that you either pay him big money or it's a 1 year deal.
Giving our first and getting their second is only a trade down of about a dozen spots.
But doesn't Cooks want a big contract also?

wow super excited, top 3 cb 2 year ago, last year he probably had some issues, but finally Talib, Revis talent here. Awesome move by BB

The last part says it all.
Objectively you probably value butler higher than NFL execs. BB just showed us he prefers Gilmore and I'm sure Gilmore wasn't in your top 5.

You can't negotiate trades emotionally.

That's a concern for me too. Unfortunately it's only possible to get what they put out si I'm afraid I don't have that info.

No, we disagree about how much money is too much for specific players and groups, in context. Like I said, all you have to do is look at the team's current cap breakdown.

And, yeah, we can just agree to disagree.

Butler > Gilmore by a mile.

Yup. Watch the bills jets Monday nighter and Gilmore got torched all game by a 31 year old Marshall and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I know it's just one game, but I've never seen that happen to Butler.

Ofc BB knows best and he may like the length of Gilmore, but im in the butler > Gilmore camp as well.

Ryan Hannable is just pulling sh!t out of his ass. There is NO WAY the Pats trade the 32 for Cooks, let alone Butler and a pick. That would be LUDICROUS. God, for a F*cking WR,

What Ken has missed is that in a secret deal eavesdropped on by the CIA but not yet leaked to the media, Gisele has acquired 51% ownership in the Patriots and will be adding offensive FAs by the boatload for her hubby.

Well that's got my juices flowing!
