Logan Ryan..

I think Daron Harmon will be the one to stay. He's important to our safety depth, sees a lot of looks in big nickel sets, and should be much more affordable.

You don't think someone is going to offer him starting FS money? Chung and Sergio Brown got signed away and they weren't even considered good players when that happened

I'd be ecstatic if they were able to find a way to keep Harmon and Ryan, but I've kind of just chalked them up to being gone once FA starts

He wants to stay, but he'll likely be looking at CB3 money here while other teams are willing to pay him CB1 money. He's likely gone and he can be replaced for cheaper.

Assuming ryan doesn't come back i was wondering about a guy like kyle fuller who has worned out his welcome in chicago. I wouldn't mind looking at him. Under contract for two more years i believe.

If we trade Jimmy G to Chi town him and White should be in the convo

Unless they already consider Jones a complete bust, it doesn't make sense to bring in a veteran to play nickel just yet.

Looking through this season's games, I've been consistently impressed by Ryan's tenacity, ball skills and tackling. He's matured into an excellent player.

Keep the Ryan and Butler tandem together like what I saw from Rowe let Justin Coleman go.
Try to pick up Fuller see what we have with Jones and Jones.
Use the draft for d line linebacker and o line draft a young mid round runningback unless you fall in love with one of the top 2

In four years, a 4 year/$30mil is going to look like a steal for a guy like Logan Ryan. He's smart, and especially at his size, has the ability to play bigger receivers. I like the prospect of keeping the 3 Rutgers boys together.... they play really well together.

It's a new league 5 d backs on the field an aweful lot. Some way to simple math but you could argue it wise to spend more in the secondary now at the expense of an LB hopefully not the one LB in particular but you see my point.
I understand and agree with your point. I just think that Harmon ends up being that guy at a much more reasonable cost.

I'm just giving my personal opinion, that's all.

I just think that Harmon is a more important player than people are giving credit to, and I think that his affordability can help keep him on the field for those all-important big nickel situations.

As for Ryan, I just think he'll be too expensive, that's all. I don't think Belichick will want to see them both go, though. We'll see soon enough. I may be way off.

Look at Seattle. Every year it seems they lose their #2 corner to some dumb team who thinks they can pay that guy to be the #1 without realising the players strengths or the team around him. And each year the team is surprised when that player is not a #1

Same thing will likely happen with ryan. He had a great season. Partly because BB put him in his best position in the slot. Now some team will say "hey lets have logan ryan be our #1!!"

I really hope they have some good option if ryan leaves. I hate messing with the secondary. They have some passing teams on their schedule next season.

Agreed. It will really disappoint me if they somehow lose both.

Everything is based on the secondary.

That's the unit to keep intact.

Too high. He's a slot CB and BB ain't paying $8m for that.

You simply underestimate Ryan. He wasn't a slot receiver for us. He was the starting CB. He moved to the slot when the #3 corner was on the field.

Maybe Belichixk will find a #2 corner who can play inside for less, and be as good as Ryan; perhaps not.

Honestly, Ryan is a #1. Yes he struggles against small quicker guys, but he has on multiple occasions blanketed true threats in Demaryius Thomas and Hopkins etc. Everyone takes him for granted. No matter who you put him on, I don't see Ryan getting roasted all day and teams would give obscene money to just slow down the Julio Jones' of the world. He might not have the highest ceiling but he has a safe floor.

I've never been a big Logan Ryan guy but for a reasonable price I'd be happy with him returning. He is a solid #2, most of the time.
He's a ball hawk.

I'm confused why you didn't see what happened by T-Day with Ryan.

Ryan moved inside once Rowe figured out what he was doing on the outside.

With that said he played great.

Are you disagreeing that he is worth much less than $8m or that he was moved to the inside once Rowe got his act together?
