Michael floyd...

If Nate passes his concussion tests, then I do not see Floyd being active for the bowl.

People on here are amazing. Floyd has only been here for a few weeks, I hope like heck they keep him. This guy can become a stud if A. He puts the work in. B. He can stay away from nonsense. Had he been here at the start of season i'm sure we would be having a different discussion.

Why in heavens name can't we activate 5 receivers for this game? We can't create one spot out of our whole offense and defense?
I love Mitchell, even with his tough game on Sunday, but why can't both of them be active for the Big game? I mean deactivate someone else and give yourself more options offensively,,,
The million dollar question is "who" you deactivate? In some past SBs, we've seen Belichick err on carrying an extra DB, which is certainly wise.

He may feel that position is more of a priority than carrying an extra WR, particularly since they can change some of the responsibilities of the RB or TE to run routes/act as targets in an emergency situation.

As always, special teams will be considered just as important as the other two phases, so we can't just pick a name from that area either.

The Patriots paid a high price to get about a 2 month test drive. We've seen good. We've seen bad. We've seen ugly.

How it all shakes out will depend on factors that we don't have answers about, and reporters haven't yet shed any light on:

Patriots happiness level with Floyd
Floyd happiness level with Patriots
Floyd (un?)willingness to stay for what the Patriots will offer

But he's not a #1. He may not be a #2.

I'm going to remain optimistic that he is a #2, and that a full offseason of working together could prove to be quite beneficial for next season.

I have no idea if they'll be able to make that determination in such a short amount of time or not, but I'm guessing that Belichick may give him a slightly longer glimpse than the average player due to what it takes to lock down a WR with size and potential. That's nothing more than personal opinion, obviously.

I'm thinking that a one year deal could make sense for both sides, which is obviously dependent on the variables that you point out. Fingers crossed something good may come from it.

He'll probably be back for training camp, but who really cares at this point.

Especially since they were running 4 receiver sets against the Steelers. If they want to do that against the Falcons, going in to the game with only 4 guys is asking for trouble.

I have nothing against floyd just to let you know. This was just a general thread on thoughts about him, I'm just unsure about him. Love to see him go out and destroy teams. Another thing, do we get the comp pick for him?

I am assuming you mean if he signs elsewhere.

Since he is on the roster, he could result in a comp pick, but that depends on what happens with the other free agents. Unless a team signs him to a large contract (making the loss much more significant in the math used to determine picks awarded), it becomes a question of the net losses in free agency.

we'll probably cut him on the friday before the game.

Or he'll have a monster game with 3 tds and 150 yards.

Honestly who knows....

who knows other then BB that is.

Michael Floyd has had the extra opportunity of Two Bye weeks the Playoffs Bye now the SB Bye if he doesn't make BB's Job difficult in practice then that's on him. The SB could be an Offensive show I wouldn't waste a Player of Floyd's caliber in this Big a game, knowing we have some gimpy players on Offense but that's just me.

If they will only activate one and the Pats aren't counting for much productivity from either, I would activate Floyd

Seeing as Hogan, Edelman, and Amendola are relatively healthy, and we only have one game, I feel like Floyd has a better ability to make that one big play even without the ball.

Oh, I think he dresses for the Super Bowl. Can't take a chance of losing a receiver in the game.

I don't think Floyd will get a big offer elsewhere, and will likely settle for a "prove it" 1-year deal.

The only team that might offer him a big pay day is the Dolphins, but that could be explained as their whole team was probably concussed from the hit Floyd laid on Tony Lippett.

But wait! "WR" Slater will be available on the 46!

Ian, please don't ban me.

Seriously, I say take one from STs assuming that 4 wide is an important option in our game plan, unless it's a spare DB because they tend to get dinged in these SBs.

I like what he brings to the table. But if he's not back next year, I wouldn't be too upset, it would mean BB doesn't think he's that important to resign. He was an injury insurance policy while Mitchell and Amendola were hurt. If he can stay clean, and learn the playbook, he might be an asset for 12 games next season (I expect a 4 game suspension)

There is no one on the ST that you can really sacrifice as most players that come to mind are on all 4 or 3 units. Lengel is the only one that is a fringe player and only on one unit but he is the only TE insurance that we have.

Ebner being out or some additional injury is the only way Floyd makes it on the active roster in the SB. Unless Josh & co. find some weird mismatch they want to unload on the Falcons but I don't see it.

We will know more about what they think of him when we see if they dress him for the big game. Mitchell had a poor game last week with a drop and out of bounds incompletion. He did not look completely healthy to my eyes before the game, so who knows where he stands health wise. Floyd had a poor game 2 weeks ago, but is healthy, and it would not be difficult to replicate Mitchell's production from last week. In warm-ups, Floyd is not as quick or sudden as any other WR; he rounds his cuts, and is nowhere near as fluid as Mitchell, who is our most athletic looking WR. Floyd brings size and strength, however, and they could use that as Bennett struggles through his injuries with diminished production. Could depend on how they each look in practice this week, but none of us will know that.

Don't worry guys. He's gonna be our next Ochocinco!
