We drafted Drake 3rd overall, declined offers from other teams to stay at 3 and take him. This was done for a reason obviously.

Drake has the talent, the tools and now the coaching to start tapping into his potential. Watching Vrabel's media interview yesterday He spoke about how he wants to focus on what Drake does best. Drake isn't a necessarily a pure pocket passer. Of course he can do that..but Neither was Allen or Jackson for that matter when they came into the NFL. However he seems to thrive and get into his grove when he's able to use his athletic ability to throw guys open and convert with his legs. Sunday he seemed unsure at times. Letting Drake be more of himself I feel as a fan that's just an observer would really help him Ascend in his second season.

Should the reigns be taken off Drake? What do you think as a fan?

He needs playing time for the analysis to be complete. I fully believe we have good coaching that can get him there. I think the offensive system is good. Overall the line, receivers, and RBs are OK - not great. Curran made the point he had 30 college starts. 13 pro starts. 4 OCs in 4 years with meh to ****ty teams. Thats a bit of a disadvantage compared to McCarthy and Daniels.

With that said he has accuracy issues and tries to do too much. Could be that he is uncomfortable. Could be his mechanics need more work. Could be he can't process things quickly and the game is still "fast" for him so hes rushing. Could be hes Fitzmagic 2.0 and that would be bad.

Give my guy the Moss treatment (at least his highschool routine): smoke a blunt before the game, get his ass nice and calm af. I bet the sacks won't hurt as much either.

I'm half serious. Just calm him tf down.

If I take a probably-too-optimistic outlook, I would chalk things up so far to Drake still being new in the scheme and needing time and reps to get comfortable. He is doing too much thinking instead of playing loose. McDaniels ran mostly easier concepts during the game, and had Drake throw more than was probably wise, to be able to give him the reps and have stuff to put on film for him to review and improve on the following week. As time goes on and he becomes more comfortable with the basics then he will be able to progress further.

They also really did not target anything deep very often, and when they did it was mostly up the seam to a TE. They need Diggs to knock the rust off and get back into game shape, and get Kyle Williams comfortable, at which time they will have a more threatening set of weapons. Some successful screens/dumpoffs to Henderson would also help. So would Pop Douglas holding onto the football.

I'm wondering if Josh McDaniels is the problem; I did not like his short stint with the Raiders: thought that was kinda telling. Maye is not Tom Brady: and McDaniels time with Mac Jones was all smoke and mirrors. I wanted a different Offensive system than the old modified Patriots one. IF Maye $h!ts the Bed this year: Josh McDaniels will be the First to go. Then that will lead to Maye learning a new Offense: three different Offenses is Three years not good.

Inconsistent mechanics=======>accuracy issues

Let's also not ignore the OL is doing him no favors

Nothing wrong with taking the checkdown when there's nothing there. I think they're trying to get him not to run around back there and until he stops fumbling I don't have a problem with that.

I hope they shake up the line up Rham and Hollins are basically useless. Add in more T Henderson - Gibby - Williams and Chism: better more dynamic playmakers.

Hollins really showed nothing. That was disappointing. Stevenson was slow but the run blocking was also poor. If they block it up better, he has enough power to be somewhat useful. I'd probably work Gibson into the rotation more though. Something like 25 total runs with 10 for Henderson, 8 for Stevenson, 7 for Gibson. Then also give Henderson 4-5 screens or slot slot snaps, as well as being the dumpoff option on 3rd down.

Rham looks slow with no power: I don't know why McDaniels called a stretch play with him on short yardage. Square peg in a round hole: we'll see if Vrabel really have control of this team. He can't be too happy with the playcall on Offense last game. McDaniels should be on Vrabel's radar.

I would trade Stevenson and feed Henderson and Gibby.
I’ve been saying this I hated the Stevenson extension, he’s Jonas Gray.
You can grab a Stevenson back off any PS.
Or sign a aging Vet off the streets.

Don't tell that to Homer Patsfans who overrate their own. We're gonna have to eat his Bad contract too: the writings on the wall. What horrible contracts; some of these Pats players have Idols of Wolf and Mayo in their bedrooms.

I wouldn't loose faith in Josh yet twin... I feel like Vrabel has stepped in and likely will ask Drake to be more of himself.. when you draft a player, you can't change who they are.. you Harp on what they do well and you work on things they can do better. The running game is important because that opens up the offense and play action..

I want more Henderson...

No. He does need to learn to play from the pocket and make reads. The best QB's still do that. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar all can run but also are very strong at pocket play and use running and athleticism to add a dimension.

Drake obviously isn't confidant from the pocket and many of his runs are way too early bailouts on plays because he's worried. That's not winnable longterm (it's not winnable now)

I would like Maye to remember that Pop Douglas is 5'8 not 6'8: those over throws to a wide open Receiver is egregious.

Every since Gibson has been on the team he's been better than Stevenson imo

I have always been more pro-Josh than most, but I just wanted someone with a fresh set of eyes more than anything. The thing that gives me some hope is that Josh did incorporate some RPO packages in the Cam Newton season, so it isn't unreasonable to think he will work that into the offense for Maye. On the other hand, my biggest worry is that McDaniels has Maye running the Brady passing offense, which is heavily reliant on precision and timing. Of course, you want your QB to be dialed in when it comes to those things, but a big part of what Maye can do better than any other quarterback Josh has had is his ability to extend plays with his legs and buy guys time to get open. I made the analogy the other day about having a Ferrari and not taking it out of 2nd gear. At some point, I hope McDaniels gets Drake Maye out on the highway and lets him open it up.

This is what I said right after it was announced Josh was back. Granted it is a small sample size based on a few snaps in preseason and one game together but it does seem like McDaniels is running the same offense he always has that really has only worked with the greatest player of all time.

I want more Henderson...
I don't know how you stop a Team with a running QB on Third and less than 3. Thats should not be possible; call Drakes number and screw Rham.
