McDaniels likely to go to niners, Patricia likely to stay

SF has the crazy owner. Josh better get results asap.

IF this report is accurate, and that's a big if...

Seems to me homeboy owner did the hard sell that he would give Josh time to turn the team around. The Garoppolo thing is still in play since they don't really have a QB out there.

But I'm still not sold that Josh is leaving. Maybe he will, but San Fran doesn't seem like the right place.

I would wish him well as as long as he goes to the NFC. Don't want him coaching an AFC team !

SF's owner seems to have questionable decision making. But even if Josh fails thats 2 head coaching contracts so he is already set for life. He can always go back to being a coordinator if it doesn't work out. But if your Josh .. do you really want to roll the dice with that owner??

You can only take the jobs that are offered.

if McDaniels leaves, my guess is there will be a trade in place for Jimmy G. I'm hoping for a 2nd/4th and a 2018 1st

Josh is still young though, and probably could be more patient for a better situation to open up. Then again with Brady getting older his stock may never be higher than it is now.

That destination would probably maximize the chances for a JG trade. No reliable starter there, a team not in our conference, and after ditching two coaches in two years, likely Josh is getting an upfront commitment to a longer term (4-5 year?) plan.

Even a semi-insane owner has to realize it is not a one year process.

Or wait another year and try again.
Assuming another offer will come which is risky.
And who is to say next years disaster franchise that fires their coach is any better?
He is still waiting for his first HC offer 6(?) years after getting fired in Denver. People acting like he has his pick of jobs aren't being realistic.
Jacksonville chose someone else. Denver chose someone else. SD didn't even ask to interview him. LA appears to be choosing someone else.
HC offers are few and far between.

What better situation is there that is likely to open up? The stable organizations win and don't need to hire new coaches. The perpetual losers are always the open jobs.

(Yes, I know that it's a BIG "if", but) If it wasn't for the owner, it'd be a great landing spot. Downtrodden - yet once proud - franchise with a good fanbase that would give him time to get things on track. No QB the new coach would be stuck with and a high pick to play around with. The possibility of trading for the QB he's worked with for several years.... but, the owner...

There's been a rumor floating that York is trying to get Josh plus Louis Riddick as GM.

I have big respect for riddick, an obviously huge BB/Pats admirer, who has a low opinion of goodell and has said both crygate and defamegate were bs. A very sharp, no- nonsense football guy. Not your average former player.

Also think Josh is ready to be a quality hc.

And SF is a storied franchise with a big, solid fan base.

All that being said, York is an idiot. Maybe 2 quality guys like Josh and Louis can overcome the owner but damn, that seems like a dicey situation.

If York would get out of their way and let them do their jobs, those 2 guys could turn that franchise around. But its gonna take time. Don't know if York would be patient enough.

So Josh trades for Jimmy G with SF' 2nd and 3rd round picks. I doubt SF would trade for Jimmy with there high 1st round pick. They are picking 2nd I think. So if Josh does go we could potentially be looking at #34 and number like #50.

I would think about that if I was the Patriots.

I guess the good thing about being hired to coach San Francisco is that after they fire you after one year they still have to pay you for four?

In all seriousness, it's about the second-to-last HC job in the NFL I'd take. We all know who the last job would be.
