What Texans Talk is saying.

Great defense, especially the corners. Press man coverage against the Pats usually doesn't work well, though, especially now with Floyd. Demps on Bennett? Come on now.

I'm straining hard trying to see it. Maybe that defense keeps them in the game and they hang around. Maybe the Pats are flat, Osweiler makes some plays, the Gillette crowd is full of pink hats sipping wine, Brady throws a pick, BOB comes up with a fantastic new game plan, the wheels come off the bus and the Texans shock the world . . . by keeping it close.

No matter how much I squint I'm not seeing it. Pats 31-13.

Well said. As others have noted, in various forms, 'any given Sunday'. However, Houston's game has been so muddled so consistently this season it is hard to see their likely path to victory. Patriots, at home, cold weather, solid D (even if one thinks the D isn't top 5, maybe it isn't, it's still hard to argue it isn't solid), Brady and his cast of targets, Blount and Lewis (really coming on). Man I just don't see any good path for Houston other than some sort of marked outlier occurring.

Can we stop ignoring Houston now?

I wish we could just directly skip ahead to the AFCCG.

We will win the game, all the chicken little will **** their pants and post dozens if not hundreds of idiotic "its gonna be a close game", "**** coaching", "I hate Logan Ryan" posts until the Texans start to fade away in the third quarter and the biggest success would be to stay injury free.

Not much to win this weekend..

Just finished reading their whole thread. Yeah, a couple of them are funny. The rest are delusional morons.

I especially liked this gem:

"PPG stats don't mean anything. Everyone goes by YPG...." FML

Pretty sure that was a joke. It has to be, right? When has a game ever been decided by yardage? Sarcasm doesn't always come through on the internet.

I'm confident but not as wholly dismissive of the Texans and this game as a lot of people seem to be.

The Texans are in the playoffs regardless of their weak division. There's no reason we should lose other than shooting ourselves in the foot which remains a slim possibility. If we play decently well we win. If we play good we roll over them.

That pretty much sums it up. If the Pats execute, it'll be a comfortable win. If they show up at the coin toss hungover with *****es in each arm, then yeah, I'd be concerned.

Pats just need to play focused and withstand whatever texans come up with for the first few drives. Once they figure out they should handle it. I think O brien for once is going to come out aggressive on offense, not like vs the raiders . He has nothing to lose as does Osweiler. They will try and go deep , take some shots something they never did in week 3 curiously. If any of those work then they might start believing. Biggest hurdle for the pats though might be getting too worried about laying an egg with all the hype of the 16 pt underdog. Yes they wont let that affect practice but going into the game how they deal with it is important especially if texans make a play or two.

Who is ignoring Houston? But I am curious if you think KC or Pitt will be coming to Foxboro a week from this Sunday...

For me (interjecting in your ?to Atomic) based on merits alone, i think it would clearly be the Chefs. But, the squeelers didnt even need the help last week and some of the refs were practically fellatioing squeelers while flagging fish. I suspect KC will have to play thru some of that too. Nyjfl just has some teams that are 'more equal' than the others.

(Remember, I'm not a conspiracy nut if it's true.)

It's hard not to be wholly dismissive of them as we beat them 27-0 with our injured 3rd string earlier this year. Since then, we've upgraded significantly at the QB position; they benched their QB for playing like sh*t until the backup became concussed. We're pretty much at full strength and playing in cold snowy Foxboro after a bye week while they're practicing in warm, sunny Southern Texas.

The question is, how does BOB fire up his team into believing they have any realistic chance of an upset?

If I was the Texans everyone including there own fans think they are gonna lose.. I would go down taking major league chances. The Texans should know they have no shot at beating the Pats playing conservatively, so I would be throwing bombs and going for chunk yardage plays. Go for onsides kicks lol.. just do everything you can to keep the Pats on there heals.

Unfortunately for the Texans the Pats don't really give up the big plays, I think thats the only way they win. Along with some special teams blunders. Now if the Texans go aggresive they could find themselves down 3 touch downs in the 1st quarter but I think thats there only hope. They can't bank on the Pats beating themselves.

I think everyone would

Hard to be dismissive of any half decent team (they are middle of the road, not the worst team out there) when the possibility of mistakes and turnovers to come into play.

Lose a fumble or two, throw an INT and you can end up in a bad spot fast. Even the Patriots can lose to a mediocre team. As someone mentioned the Eagles game last season where we made a couple of mistakes and it spiraled out of control.

By no means do I see this happening but unless we are talking about teams that are absolutely bottom of the barrel, there is always a chance.

Fortunately Belichick does not allow his team to look past an opponent unlike everyone in the media and fans who are scoffing and laughing at the notion that the Texans can give us a game. Turnovers and big penalties can always made an impact. Fortunately we are pretty darn good in those areas.

Don't mistake me for thinking this is going to necessarily be a nail biter. We should win comfortably but the wild overconfidence going on right now is a little bothersome.

They actually could get away with that, for this game.

Probably not the next one.

Moot point, we know it's not happening with this team.

Pat D not top 5? That's bs and wrong. Even after you adjust for schedule, the Pats are the #3 defense in the nfl. That is FACT. Pats D is better than Texans. And I won't even bring up the offense.

I should have put next to that to elicit a sarcastic tone. I always forget to do that.

I think I should have too. Consider:
You said: We are ignoring Houston.

Get it?

No worries Gumby, however, I should have noted the sarcasm intended.
See my "who is overlooking Houston?" followed immediately by my (paraphrase) 'who will we be playing in the AFCCG'. My sarcastic, and muddled, way of saying yes we are overlooking Houston. (never! a good think when one has t explain their humorous intent ).

But on a serious note I have predicted a Pitt victory and I also prefer Pitt as our opponent. While I think both teams present a real challenge, Pitt is the evil we know while KC is the evil we don't. In the absence of convincing proof as to which evil is worse, I say stick with the evil we know.
For what it's worth, and it is literally nothing, I was 4-0 on WC weekend including on this very board(wow!) telling Houston fans days before their Raider victory to book their non refundable tickets to Foxboro. The modern day Jimmy the G_eek I am
