Do you take Adam Gase and this Dolphins team seriously, considering what they've accomplished?

1-4 vs teams with .500 or better record (the 1 win was the game Roethlisburger got hurt)

10-1 vs teams under .500

Here is their schedule after their bye week

jests
chargers
rams
49ers
ravens (blowout loss)
cardinals
jests
bills

With the exception of the 2nd jests game all their wins have been 1 play wins.

jests- needed a 96 yard KO return
chargers- pick-6 tied up at 24-24
rams -nuff said
49ers- stopped the 49ers at the 2 yard line
cardinals- last second FG
jills- OT

So they've been in 1 score games with teams picking in the top 10 for the last 3 months. The 1 team they played that had a wining record they lost by 30 points

So congrats on beating teams that they should beat. But let's not act like they went through some gauntlet

they are the only team in the AFC left who can rush the passer. we will see if they can make it to round 2 to play the pats

If a team is capable enough to make the playoffs, I take that team seriously. There are some playoff games that I feel more confident about us winning than others based upon the specific opponent, weather conditions, whether home or away, etc. But, my take is always that if they're a playoff team, there's some possibility we could lose.

They can run the ball. Ajayi had 200+ two weeks in a row.
They can play a little defense and generate some pressure.

They can keep it close if they don't beat themselves. I do give credit for going 9-1, even considering the opponents. You could say much the same about our opponents with the exception of Seattle, Baltimore, and Denver. We got Pittsburgh without Roethlisberger.

If Pats take care of ball security and execute at a high level they win by 14, but a turnover or a special team play or a big penalty can all keep a game close. Dolphins could execute at a high level too.

My biggest concern...

...is this kind of sh#t.

Fortunately, Tom already has 3 kids

I don't know if the experts on this board are taking them seriously, but I'm pretty sure that BB, Josh and Matt are...and that other guy...what's his name? Oh yeah, Brady.

And dante's guys have pretty good at negating good pass rushes lately.

The last thing you want is another team from your division in the playoffs. I like our chances against them though.

You're waaaaay underrating them...

...they're dominating the dojo!!!

After starting the season 1-4, the Dolphins have won 9 out of the last 10 games to clinch a playoff spot

Their record against teams with winning records is 1-4 and their current point differential is +4, meaning that the majority of their games have been won only by slim margins.

I know that may not sound impressive, but they've been tough enough to pull out close games and are riding a wave of momentum -- despite injuries and losing their QB.

I feel confident facing this team, but I want to show respect to what Adam Gase has done to put the Dolphins back in the right direction. He'll likely be considered for 'Coach of The Year' honors. Sunday will be his first time facing Tom Brady at the season finale, and he's gonna want to make a statement to the fans and his team.

I expect the Patriots to be in full control of this game, but I won't be surprised if they give us trouble on Sunday. Who knows? ....the Fins may even get a chance to meet us in the playoffs as the #6 seed.

Hopefully, each team gives their best effort and makes this game worthwhile for fans to watch! Go PATS!!!!

I say both,

Adam Gase is looking like a very solid hire, easily 2nd best HC in the AFC East.

On the other hand, I think it's likely that a lot of teams didn't take the Dolphins seriously/ looked past them.
No one has been circling the Dolphins on their schedule.

I posted a similar summary a few days back in a different thread. It is amazing how so many people make a big deal out of the "eye test" when it comes to our defense but then just assume things about Miami based on their record and box scores.

I remember a certain 2010 Jets team that we didn't take very seriously after we trounced them 45-3....

And how is the 2010 Jets team relevant to the 2016 Dolphins team ?

I remember games against certain team form Indianapolis in which that team got destroyed in the regualar season and went on to get destroyed in the playoffs. Same with the Texans in 2012.

The point is that the Dolphins will most probably have to win the turnover battle by at least 2 to have a shot. Nobody sane is saying that they have no chance but there is no reason to be scared or concerned about that team.

Dolphins have not played that great on the road.As the 6th seed that is were they will be.

Of course.... not trying to blow anything out of proportion. I just think the Fins are making important strides. They are one of the better coached teams and will likely be motivated to face us and make noise in the playoffs.

....or they could find themselves overmatched and lay a dud. You never know

I'm intrigued to see how they respond to the challenge

It doesn't really matter what the Pats fans think as long as BB, his coaches and players don't underestimate any team and I'm pretty sure they won't.

Pretty much.

For some percentage of the players, perhaps overestimation or underestimation plays a factor, but I strongl doubt that for the brain trust (BB, Ernie Adams, et al). It's a cold analysis of tendencies, what has worked for them, what hasn't, different tells and personnel groupings. I'd assume the methodology is the same for every team, for the most part.

I take the dirty doofin scumbags very, Very seriously…in Miami.

The Pats have lost their last 3 feckin games in Miami, to their eternal shame.

This is a team that by right - by all feckin right - should be 6-9.

I have Absolute Zero respect for this entire organization, coaching staff, players & fans.

They are the Luckiest Damn Team in the league…and that's all they are.

And they will lose to whichever team they face in the POs.

Patriots take them seriously and that's all that matters. Any given Sunday.
