How did I make out Jimmy G is like Brady? I said with the right talent around him and good coaching, Jimmy can help an NFL team win. You disagree with that?

Who gives a crap if he sat on the bench for two years? He produced pretty damn well at an NFL level and totally justified his draft status which was a 2nd rder. That is actual performance vs an NFL defense in which the kid did pretty damn well which is a helluva lot more data than an unproven 21 year old kid from Notre Dame or North Carolina that is a projected mid-late 1st rounder. That is how an NFL GM looks at it.

KC doesnt regret the trade. They regret the contract that they gave him. Plus he too them to the playoffs his 2nd year and make the probowl. Its wasn't a complete bust.

Mallet found success in BAL which is a non-BB system. Hoyer was successful in CLE and CHI which are non-BB systems.

Why would he have more value? He played 6 quarters in 3 years.

Because 3 years ago he had played NO quarters of any pro football. And there were question marks of can he take snaps from center? learn to read defenses? go thru progressions if primary is covered? he did none of those things in college. He had 3 years of watching the goat at all 3 of those things, not to mention josh mcdaniels. and tho 6 quarters is a small sample size-it was a QUALITY sample. He played well in a nationally-televised game vs. a SB contender and one of the better D's in the nfl-on the road. And BEAT them. Are you saying he would have had MORE value 3 years ago when he had done NONE of those things?
In addition, hes a safer option than he would be as a FA-where theres a likely bidding war-and a team might overpay. Trade for him before 2017 season, you still him under contract for a year-if he plays well, then you extend him. The team that already has him has an advantage. If he doesnt play really well, you could then sign him for less. I highly doubt that he would flat-out suck.

RG III is beginning a season ending audition for the Browns' #1 QB spot. So far, he is laying a great big egg (of course, he is probably not in top playing shape after a long layoff). If he looks this bad for the rest of the season, then the Browns will definitely be in the market for help, Garoppolo or someone else. It does seem like a cruel move to send anyone into a situation like Cleveland, but the Browns do have a lot of high draft choices.

When asked about this on Minihate and Callahate earlier this season Lombardi said Belichick would look at the Bradford trade as his baseline, and he's been around Belichick for years and made deals with him. It's impossible to know what Belichick sees his actual as but he clearly has all the leverage so it's hard to see him moving him for less than what he wants.

I'm saying not enough had happened to dramatically change teams' opinion of him. A 2nd-3rd round pick should be able to play ok against a crappy team (Arizona us not a SB contender) and a game and a half just isn't enough to answer questions with certainty. On top of that as opposed to the player you would pick he has largely not played football for 3 years which certainly matters and he is 3 years older.

I think he will trade him I just don't think it will be Denver or an NFC team that he will likely face in the playoffs. I could see Rivers retiring and shipping him to San Diego or a trade to the Bears or Browns.

How do you rate him?

Who knows how to rate the guy at this point? Could be a marginal starter or could be a top QB. None of us know based on six quarters where opposing teams didn't gameplan to exploit his weaknesses.

In the end, it will all boil down to how hungry a team is to get a starting QB. BB will not give JG away for a bag of marbles, but he will entertain offers heavy in high draft choices.

This upcoming year QB class is very weak so the Browns will most likely want a QB, I think they would cough up a 1st rounder for Jimmy. You need a game changer and a good QB will be the answer, you build a team around a QB. Of course it's not going to improve them much, it will be a project for them to rebuild for he next several years.

If the Pats can get some value then I'd be totally okay with it. We have a young Jacoby who can fill in the backup role if needed, we don't need 2.

Successful QB doesnt need to be qualified as ufa who made a team. My god the judge text was using them as proof that any QB who learned from Brady and was cjached by BB became a great investment because of it. That would require being a good NFL starter not getting a participation award.

To say Hoyer is a failure is wrong.

We are talking about a player who made a legit NFL career for himself. Not making the HoF or winning the SB does not make him a bum.

One other point here: reports are that teams have been trying to get him already, but the Patriots have been hanging up the phone.
