PATS TRADE JAMIE COLLINS!!!

Y'all realize that most likely the Pats will send a higher draft pick to the Eagles for Eric Rowe, than they will get from Cleveland for Jaime Collins......

Think about that for a second....

I just did..........didn't faze me at all

haden is too much $ and Thomas at this point is not much better than Solder

maybe we can get their starting LG..........jonathan cooper

Thomas is much better than Solder. Salary is about the same, too.

People seem to be forgetting half the season has been played. Hence the 3rd round pick especially since he'll probably walk after the season, How much did you want a winless team to give up for how long they have him?

As mentioned above, what would worry me the most is if Hightower gets injured, we would be very thin at LB position. I really doubt that Belichick makes this deal without a backup plan. I think we trade for a LB that most will be upset with because he will not be 'as good' as Collins, but we will be stable for years by the move.

Belichick on WEEI: We did what was best for the team.

Of course.

Wouldn't it be great if, just once, BB said something like "Yeah, it's a deal that's bad for the team, but I hate that bastard and I wanted him out of here"?

That would be message board and talk show fodder for weeks, if not longer.

Branch and Seymour both played worse after leaving. Vinatieri wasn't missed because Ghost was just as good.
What I'm thinking is, absence of Branch plus Vinatieri's presence solidified Colts' previously tumultuous kicking game, lifting them over us in '06

The talk shows are gonna babble no matter what; and Bill know actions speak louder than words.

He has a plan.

A LB Corp full of low draft picks, high pick busts and FAs no one wanted.

Sincerely,

Tony Mazzarotti

I don't think that it's an odd sentiment at all. However, he could have done it "his way" while playing outstanding football the Patriots way.. And that is the difference. If you aren't willing to do the work that is needed to make your teammates around you better, than you'll only end up hurting your team.

Jordan, Thomas and Magic have multiple rings each, 11 total and he's echoing a statement that sides with a me-first, ringless player about "doing it my way" instead of the mentality of some real, legendary winners.

My 2 cents
In the past few games, it's been the Hightower show and my only recollection of Collins' work was the terrible angles the LB took when targeting RBs that were able to turn the corner and head up the sidelines. I'm a casual watcher but his poor angles really stuck out.
My best guess, Collins probably being too vocal in the locker room regarding his contract and we know how BB hates distractions....see Randy Moss and his contract antics.
In summary:
Less than inspiring play + big contract demands + distraction = one way ticket to The Mistake by the Lake

no

In times like this, I just have to go with "in BB I trust".

Great fodder? Absolutely but if we are going to wish for BB to say something outrageous that he is never going to say otherwise, I'd prefer a more benign and player friendly "I called the psychic friends network and they told me to do it". That would make for a wholly unique kind of posting pandemonium....

So Roberts takes Collins' running down reps (already been doing that), Mingo takes his passing down reps and Van Noy/McClellin is LB no 3. Is that about the size of it?
