Starting tonight with Denver defending their Super Bowl title against the Panthers. I think Carolina pulls this one out. Denver has lost quite a bit on defense, but they should still be pretty solid. No Talib but their corners are still pretty good. Carolina, on the other hand, gets Stewart back (injured in the Super Bowl) as well as Kelvin Benjamin. On the other side of the ball, I'm not convinced that Trevor Semen (see what I did there?) is going to be the answer for Denver's QB woes. I think the Denver defense keeps it close until the end and then the Panthers pull away.

I think the Broncos will win tonight. The Broncos defense is still pretty loaded and I think they won't have to really rely on their offense to win this game as the Panthers won't put up too many points. Mile High will always be tough, no matter who is playing QB for the Broncos.

20-16 Broncos

Did talib get suspended? Or is he still recovering from being an idiot and shooting himself?

That was just my bad. I thought he had gotten suspended but he's apparently playing.

Will we hear the collective chanting "Where is Roger ? Where is Roger ?"

I think Carolina wins. Denver has the better D but Carolina isn't bad either and I will take the Carolina O over the Denver O just cause of Cam really. Denvers weapons are much better in the passing game but you need a guy who can use them.

I will call it 23-13 Carolina with 1 big turnover in the red zone giving Carolina an easy 7 being the main difference.

I have Denver, everyone calling for Carolina but, I think we get a solid performance out of the kid. Denver hangs on 24-21. Only team to ever lose the Thursday night SB winner opener since it began in 2005 is the Giants.

I think Panthers win this as long as they don't repeat the putrid performance by their OL from the SB. Too many unknowns on the offensive side for the Broncos, and the revenge factor for the Panthers.

I still dont see how Trevor cant be better than what they had last year, ok Manning has better game knowledge but I dont think that will factor for many weeks if at all. Word is the kid is a sponge and has done very well so far at least in pre-season. We shall see. But what did the Denver defense loose? Malik Jackson? Big deal, and they lost Trevthan...thats probably bigger than Jackson but he was a role player anyways. As far as Talib he isn't even listed on the injury report and was declared ready to go last weekend, he is not suspended. Demarcus Ware is pretty healthy right now, at according to Mike Klis and the local media, he will be used on a rotational basis. I think Denver has this one, its at home, the starters are healthy, I dont think the Panthers are all that either.

I think both Denver and Brockweiler are going to regret the breakup. The Brockweiler is going to be a good QB.

yeh I dont know but I think you could definitely be right but he threw the ball weird like, locally the media didn't like his release, saying due to long arms it was late and subject to balls batted, he also threw down but I have no idea if that means a dam thing. Unfortunately living out here I get the broncos jammed down my throat and I will admit since their training facility is 2 miles from my house I have been over there, Trevor seems to throw the ball better imho than Brocky.

But back to the topic, I just dont see how their defense has gotten worse, they look good, I think we will see how Ware does but if he can play a full season thats a huge plus for Denver.

Donks fans are confident their team will prevail. They are tailgating and having fun while the rest of us work. The party has started early here in Denver. 9am MST

Donks win this one going away. Elway is proclaimed a genius yet again and Trevor gets the front page of SI next week. Book it.

Carolina is not a good football team. Cam Newton is all they have and he won't be enough to beat the Donks at home.

The Donkeys have upgraded at the QB position from the Superbowl. But the donkeys were also incredibly lucky to win a lot of their games last season. Tough choice! I think I'll settle for an asteroid!

37-17 Panthers

Ravens in 2013.

I know @ReverendMaynard will be absolutely glued to the TV tonight. I'd like to hear his thoughts on the contest.

I hope Carolina kills them.
