Getting screwed already. Tony Corrente assigned to Pats/Cards

A definite 'Zona blowout now. You believe what you want. Holding calls on almost every pass Jimmy G completes to go along with Garrop's nervousness in the pocket and scatter arm throws to open receivers .The Corleone crew...er...Corrente crew will call illegal blocks and holding early as the Pats try to establish their running game with multiple TE's. Zona will get up a score and then...BLOWOUT CITY.

It is a must that New England gets blasted on opening Sunday to reinforce the "Don't **** With Goody Hitler" league mandate.

You and Quantum can disagree all you want, but the refs didn't decide the outcome of that game.

The refs didn't make Harper muff a punt and they certainly didn't force the Pats to throw on three straight downs with a 7 point lead and a little over 2 mins to go in the game, saving not only the Broncos' timeouts but the 2 minute warning to boot. Eliminate those mistakes and the game is won.

That loss was all on the players and the coaches. Using the refs as a scapegoat for that particular loss is getting old. We're above that sort of childish stuff.

Its beginning to sound like Oakland Raider whiners blaming the snow bowl loss on the tuck rule play. The bad and generous calls go both ways and the team did not do enough to win when using the Refs is the excuse for losing.

I think you two should go and watch how exactly the Broncos ended up taking the lead at the end of Q4 again.

Specifically, the "defensive holding" on Chung when Branch sacked Osweiler 8 yds behind the LOS on 2nd & Goal with the Broncos being out of timeouts and only 1:25 on the clock. The others have already pointed out the various blatant holding calls that were missed as well. Lets also not forget the ticky-tacky, idiotic OPI calls on Gronk before he got injured.

As much as we can complain about players and coaches screwing up, this game was a giant mess in terms of officiating.

For as bad as that Denver game was reffed, the Pats simply blew that game.

They couldn't hold a 14 point lead in the 4th Quarter and then a 7 point lead, with the ball no less, with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game, choosing to throw on every down instead of run and waste clock....

That's just inexcusable. No refs blew that game for the Pats.

It didn't help having about 100 yards or more pig offense called back on phantom OPI

Don't forget that 60 yard bomb to Keyshawn that would have sealed the win

Even the cover of SI had a hold on the cover and then there are these two gems from the Broncos TDs.

Missed calls happen. This forum didn't seem to mind it when the Pats scored against the Saints to end regulation in 2013.

I'll pose the same question as last season: if you think the NFL is going to try to screw the Pats on the field, then why the hell are you going to watch?

Yup, bad/missed calls happen. And they usually even out, often in the same game (yeah, sweet, just like the NBA).

That game though should have gotten Corrente fired. Pure incontinence....

Saints game is a bad example. There wasn't a missed call or two in the Denver game. There was about 5-6 missed calls and 3 phantom calls. All going against the Pats.

That crooked Tony.

That crooked Tony.

So your response to me saying that the ref played a huge role in the loss is somehow implying that I think he is crooked ?

I never said anything about him having Patriots bias but just pointed out that this time (similarly to the Panthers game 2-3 years ago) the referee's odd decisions contributed more to the loss than individual coaching mistakes.

If you have a point at least take some effort and time to make it instead of posting moronic pictures otherwise you are nothing but a troll.

Over his career, the Pats have won more games than lost when Corrente is reffing the game. Also, the home team won less than 50% of the time last season under Correntes crew.
Is it the same crew as last year??
Even if the Pats win more than 50% of the games he officiates, considering that Brady/BB win approximately 80% of the games they play, it could still be outside the margin of error...........and they could win less often with him officiating than would be statistically expected.

So I can complain about it with my friends and co-workers.

Roger Goodell disapproves of this thread, and would like to add that the first Pats offensive series will start at 1st and 20 after Gronk is given a retroactive OPI.

Is it the same crew as last year??

Yes, aside from 3 guys and they are

Heads Linesman- Worked on Hocculi's crew the last 2 years
Side Judge- Worked with Morelli's crew the last 5 years
Back Judge- Worked with Walt Anderson's crew last year

So Corrente's crew has gotten even more incompetent with those additions.

Morelli's crew has been hands down the worst crew in football the last few years, just go read up on the Arizona/SF in SF last year so bad they got removed from the SNF game they were scheduled to do because how ****ty they were

and Hocculi's crew is flag happy

You sound just like Jim Harbawl.

Belichick wins because he isnt the type looking to cast blame when it doesnt go his teams way.

The Saints game is a great example. The missed call directly cost them the game on the last play just like the missed calls (and the fumble) cost the Pats the game in Denver throughout the entire contest.

That denver game was all on chris harper

To see if they can overcome it.

No one is saying that the NFL is outright "ok refs, do whatever it takes to make NE lose". Then there truly would be no point to watching. The NFL is doing "thumb on the scale" stuff. It doesn't guarantee anything but it does shift the odds/increase the level of difficulty.

yup, the refs definitely peed their pants during that game.

it will never happen but I would love to see a two men enter one man leaves style passing game. Pushing off? Legal. Grabbing the receivers arm? Legal. Massive hit before the ball arrives? Legal. Take all the subjective judgement calls out of it. Did he come down with the ball? Catch. No? Incomplete. It would be fun as he'll to watch Gronk pancake a CB then catch the ball.

Why would you even watch that if you believed it to be true? Thumb on the scale or full on fixing, you're still of the belief that the league is fixing the product on the field. It's one in the same and it's dumb to keep watching if you believe that to be the case. It's an exercise in futility that has long confused me as it seems utterly pointless to not only follow a sport that's fixed, but to also leave thousands of posts on a message board about said sport, and, in some cases, spend hundreds of your hard earned dollars on tickets for it.
