The eastern conference's garbage. I see Lebroni making more nba finals trip until he retires.

What's overstated about saying he's still not GOAT?

He wasn't good tonight

who wasn't great? bron? what were you watching? when you watch bron you have to watch little things. yes, he is no MJ, kobe, or Larry on offensive end. he isn't a killer offensive player. but he does so many things on the court.

yup. i'm a firm believer that talent level in both nfl and nba gets better and better simply because there is more money and bigger talent pool. today's soft era is very different compared to the past, but it doesn't mean today's players are worse. and IMO transcendent talents are transcendent. they would adjust and thrive in any era.

IMO nba did have best era in 80's and 90's only because players were more fundamental because they had to stay in college longer and they didn't have today's distraction. they had better centers because games were inside then out. but today we have much better shooters and wing players.

nfl too. IMO, 80's and 90's were great era. physical, tough, and less distraction. but doesn't mean today's players are worse than the past players. brady will be brady in any era.
On another note, I've heard that apparently a lot of guys were coke heads in the 80's (including Bird). Maybe that's where Bird's confidence came from lol?

Where are all of these people who claim that he's the greatest of all time?

You bring this debate up on literally a daily basis lately, and I've yet to see people making that claim.

In my opinion, he's hovering somewhere around the top 10.

Celtics will have their time to pounce. Glad we have a guy like Danny who won't make short sighted moves. Really hope we don't trade this pick, I really like the top of this draft.

Yeah, Im a bit surprised in that regard. I can appreciate the fact that he's had some bad series' etc, but these last two finals have helped to shape my opinion that maybe some of that negative stuff is overstated.

He is held to a different standard than everyone else because he was so highly touted as the next Jordan. Basically, that has set up a situation where, if he doesn't equal Jordan in any way, he is considered a failure. The Decision and that ridiculous Heat rally made him easy to hate. But, if you know anything about basketball, and I mean even if you have a glib understanding, you can appreciate how good he is, and how he combines a number of elements from the greatest players of all time. At the end of the day, he is a more athletic Magic Johnson. He can score, and has had a good shot at different times in his career, but his real strength is the sheer diversity of ways that he can help his team win.

by your logic, Brady shouldn't be considered GOAT because today's NFL is soft as hell.

Bron is all time great. he would thrive in any era. dude is 6ft 8 255lb man child. he will adjust to physicality of the game just like he did against us in 2011. just too much talent on both ends. and scary thing is that he has another 5-6 years of high level basketball in him.
I didn't say that he would become a scrub, but once hand checks became illegal the NBA became soft. There would have been less "freebie" points for LeBron. LeBron is a physical freak that would have been a great player no matter how physical the refs allow the player to be. But there is no chance in hell that he would be able to replicate his numbers.

Hard to say he is the greatest of all time. I certainly wouldn't put him over Jordan. Although Bob Ryan wrote in his recent book that Lebron and MJ are co-GOATs.

Tell me who will challenge the cavs next year in the leastern conference. The conference's one big joke. Just put the cavs in the finals next year and spare me the awful basketball play

LeBron led all players on both teams in points, rebounds, assists, steals & blocks (first to ever do it). Didn't deserve MVP lol?

He wouldn't sniff the finals if he played against the Bird Celtics or Laimbeer/Rodman/Thomas Pistons. Those guys would eat him alive and he would be checked out mentally in the first quarter

Who do you want them to draft?

don't get the logic. if somebody can hand check bron, then bron can hand check those players too. it goes both ways. and bron isn't the greatest offensive player anyway. bron is all about court vision, basketball smarts, and everything else. scoring is just icing in the cake for him. great players adjust. bron is a physical freak. many say dude lost a step or two, but that dunk in game 5 his head was at the rim.

This is why it's pointless at times to debate an opposing point of view. Anyone who's been watching already knew that James was likely to receive the MVP, even if they lost.

He goes off for near 30 and a triple double tonight and all of a sudden he's no longer worthy. Lol. Some of these comments are just silly.

In the conversation of GOAT is my point.

When you're having that discussion, it's fair to point out a poor shooting performance, and a teammate who couldn't be stopped.

GS was a 1 point lead away from sending LBJ into turtle mode, but couldn't do it.

Then Kyrie hit the shot to sage LBJ a la Rau Alle

that i agree. but that's a totally different debate. i wonder how 80's team would play in today's era with today's rule. it's a different game.

I totally appreciate your argument that he's not the greatest, and I fully agree with it. I just haven't seen many who are claiming that he's the best ever, that's all.

People would rather hate on greatness than respect it. You would think patriots fans of all people would choose to do the latter.

Douchiness really clouds my ability to respect greatness. I genuinely used to enjoy watching LeBron play, but he increasingly left me appalled at some of his douchey antics on & off the court. Specifically over the last few years.

after the first game of this series I posted in THIS thread that this was going seven games. I didn't say who was going to win it because I honestly did not have a clue about THAT.You guys are fighting back and forth about who's better from what era and Lebron's place and rank...that's nice but the BUSINESS of the NBA dictates that its biggest star is marketed in the most profitable way possible for the league. Not to hard to make the statement this series was going seven games based on THAT fact of life.

Now you're all trying to foretell Lebron's future...will he continue his reign? Will he abruptly decline?

I have no idea. What I DO think is...LA Lakers...showtime needs a SUPERSTAR. They need a better followup to the Kobe years. They don't even have to win a championship, just restore the legacy. LeBron James...Laker...forays into the Hollywood landscape during the offseason...adored by the media kingmakers courtside during the season. It makes PERFECT business sense. I'm going to say right here right now, Lebron ends up a Laker. The glow of the championship will be enjoyed in Cleveland for a good while of course ...and then "LeBron's not happy with (insert generic Cav management figure) and wants out"...the Cav fans will always have THEIR championship brought to them by Lebron..there's no downside. Certainly not like the Miami move years earlier.

Yup, THAT'S my take. We'll see.
