Great. He didn't have a great year last year but he played for a horrible franchise. I'm surprised he hadn't been signed yet, and I'll be very happy if the Patriots added him. The big issue with Knighton is he's not much of a pass rusher, so he's not a replacement for Fairley or Hicks. But he's an upgrade on Siliga and a good rotational player with Branch. One interesting wrinkle is that he's mentioned he's tired of bumping around the league, so you might be able to get him for a bargain if you give him a 3-year deal. He's only 29 and could stay effective for that long.

BB's first concern on defense is to stuff the run and knigton can do that.

Isn't there an issue with Knighton being out of shape?

I would still like to see him here.

Doesn't he have an issue with cluster headaches?

It's always money.

Not true. There have been plenty of cases where a player chooses another team because they will give him more opportunity to have playing time or be a playmaker.

Fairley signed an one year deal with the Saints. That means he is going to be looking for a job next year. If the Saints are offering a bigger role in the defense than what the Pats are offering, it would be in his best interest to take the Saints' job even if they are offering him less. Long term, he is more likely to make more money if say the Saint offer to make him a starter than if the Pats only offered him to be a role player and a situational pass rusher.

I guess you can argue that still means it is about the money, but it isn't what you meant. It could be truly be about the opportunity which ultimately is about the money in the future.

As a rotational player, that wouldn't be as big a concern for us. That being said, BB's conditioning test is brutal and doesn't let players practice until they can pass it. Remember Blount 2 years ago? I believe it took him more than a few days to pass.

But agreed, i'm all on board the PotRoast gravy train.

Any way he can be as good as ted washington?

He is like a poor man's Ted Washington. Huge but relatively light on his feet and uses his hands well.

Didn't he talk some **** on us?

Pot Roast? Yes please.

I would prefer Melton, but I'd certainly take Knighton with open arms.

Knighton, Melton and Fairley all had nearly identical numbers last season. Honestly can't go wrong with either of the two left.
