I think 3 are comp picks so they are stuck with them.

Seriously though, if they cant hit on a contributing, rotational player with one of those picks they really suck.

Not every player needs to take a paycut to play for the Patriots. If Bennett plays on his current deal, I'm fine with that. Good players should be paid well. Bennett is one of the better TEs in the NFL.

He was good in 2015 but was not worth $5m/yr

Here's an interesting tidbit (saw it at the Bills' Board):

The 6th the Pats got back with Bennett is the same one they gave Chicago for Bostic. So they got Bostic and Bennett for a 4th.

That's not necessarily gonna happen. Bennett just had a great year and could easily tell the Pats to F off.

Bennett missed 5 games this past year, had easily his worst season since 2011.

That said, I don't disagree with the overall point. If the Pats aren't offering him TE1 money, he has plenty of incentive to play out this year, try to maximize his value, and look to get paid elsewhere.

No doubt but if staff consistently ask players to take pay cuts for a drop in production then they shouldn't have an issue when the talent asks for a pay rise because of increased production.

I wholeheartedly agree and I personally never have an issue with a player "holding out" if they are underpaid or undervalued in the market.

NFL contracts aren't worth the ink used to sign them

Excellent pick up. I thought we'd get more out of Chandler but getting Bennett is so much more lethal on Offense especially Red Zone targets.
