We're on to 2016. Think FA/Trades as in 2007 rather than the #60 Draft choice [sign the beast v 004]

True, he will not give Seattle a hometown discount, but Seattle doesn't have any cap room. I think he earned himself some money in the Carolina game, but certainly not the kind of money Golden Tate got. I'm hopeful the Pats could at least make a competitive offer...especially after they dump LaFell.

Kearse has come through so many times in clutch situations, I can't help but respect his game.

All this talk is just a fantasy. We have three of our own players, Jones, Collins and Hightower to sign before thinking about anybody else. The bottom line is that the draft is the only cost efficient way to get new talent and our first round pick which is the primary source was surrendered by Kraft on a bogus violation. Thank you Bob for capitulating to your buddy Goodell and your beloved fellow owners.

I'm not sure there's a position on the roster that'd benefit less from an $8 million investment than going from McCourty/Chung/Harmon to McCourty/Weddle/Chung. That's an elite guard, second tier tackle, any free agent running back, probably any free agent WR outside of Jeffrey and maybe Jones. Why would anybody want to spend that on a safety?

How much did they spend on McCourty Cousin? Average salary.....$9.5mm. I think you would have to honestly say he was mediocre this year. We are all homers but Weddle is a better Safety. I am saying in tandem this might be great. Who on this forum would say McCourty was worth $9.5mm this year?

I agree Collins & Hightower are priorities, but I am onboard with the trade Chandler Jones idea, for value.

He was invisible yesterday against a backup LT & most of his sacks were a result of someone else getting there 1st & chasing the QB to him.

Yes...Jimmy G will be very happy in 2019. 17% is the correct number of success for each Team to average in the Draft. So that is like two players per Draft class. Some more some less. The problem is that it takes 3 years for a Draft pick to develop to their fullest extent. There are exceptions.

Bill's forte is picking up players on the street or in Trades. What do you think the odds are that BB Drafts a top flight WR that makes a difference? Just sayin. When the Draft is poor or the pick numbers aren't there he comes up with some good Trades.

Bill made a huge FA splash after losing against Manning in 2006. He did the same after losing to Manning in 2013. Both loses were in the AFCCG.

He's going to make noise this FA period.

Sanu is an incredibly intriguing player. He has the versatility , size and speed. Consistency is the question with him. I'm going to keep an eye on him this off season

Can you please explain to me in which ways McCourty was mediocre this season and which ways Weddle is clearly vastly superior?

Hightower and Collins are absolutely the priorities, and their play yesterday (Daniels' TDs not withstanding) was absolutely on par with what we've come to expect from. They gutted it out yesterday and played some great football in a crazy hostile environment at altitude.

Chandler Jones once again was invisible rushing the QB (that's what i'm judging him on, because that's what the market will pay him for). As many have stated, he was playing against a backup LT and did absolutely nothing against one of the least mobile QBs they've played all season. With the way edge rushers are getting paid in the league compared to linebackers, i think it's a no brainer to either let him walk or try to trade him, while retaining Collins and Hightower. Don't forget we still have Sheard and that guy is an animal.

I agree !

There are always teams looking for pass rushers & Chandler Jones is young & healthy with the numbers,
Although foggy.

I know a player for player trades are rare (usually player for a pick), but
I would welcome either option.

Chandler Jones to Cleveland for Josh Gordon and a 3rd round pick? ;-)

I know some fans only look at INTs when evaluating DBs, but there really is a lot more to it than that.

I thought we had a pretty good year in the secondary despite losing a future first-ballot HOFer. Logan Ryan's emergence as a quality player wasn't by accident though; McCourty was a huge factor in that.

The 2014 Patriots pass D gave up 3,837 yards, 24 TDs vs. 16 INTs, and 6.2 YPA.

The 2015 Patriots pass D gave up 3,852 yards, 24 TDs vs. 12 INTs, and 6.0 YPA.

Subtract HOFer Revis, add in a former UDFA who had a hell of a year, an improved Chung, and a kid everyone wanted to run out of town at the beginning of the season.

McCourty did a hell of a lot more than roam center field like last season. With all the changes to the team, he ended up playing a lot more coverage than usual which allowed BB to use Harmon more and minimize Chung's weaknesses.

If people don't think McCourty was worth $9.5M though, fine, I understand. I can accept that. I just don't understand how in the same argument, you can argue for acquiring Weddle, who cost the Chargers $8M and did even worse. It's like someone telling me it's healthier to drink diet Coke, then ordering a double Big Mac and supersizing their fries and drink. I really don't know what to make of that.

If so, that is likely going to mean not only freeing up money from trading Jones and cutting Mayo (to start), but also waiting until one of Hightower/Collins hits the legal tampering period next spring.

I think we'll attempt to retain some of our own players while making the usual lower/middle tiered splashes that add depth and competition to certain positions of need.

Where do I sign?

Didn't Gordon get a new(er) DUI charge, thus making 4 arrests in 5 yrs? Is he even definitely going to be reinstated, and if so, he'd obviously be one mistake away from leaving football altogether?

EDIT: nevermind, I'm thinking of Blackmon.

Oh Mayo is gone no question. And after disappearing for the last third of a season, AGAIN, will anyone really miss Chandler? If we can get a solid guard or a high 2nd round pick I say pull the trigger with a trade.

That was Blakemon

It would definitely have to be considered, unless there's a lot of hope to reach a reasonable longer term deal. No doubt.
