Cheerleaders are ruled to be employees

Sorry to see you've gotten your panties in a bunch, but calling the Patriots or the NFL a publicly held corporation is ignorance, not a mere spelling mistake.
I agree that I am ignorant when it comes to definitions of different types of businesses, but such a distinction has no bearing on this conversation. That said, I called it a vocabulary mistake, which it was. I did say that you can check my spelling and grammar too, as both hold the same amount of relevance to the argument. For your own sake, I hope someday night you're visited by 3 spirits.

I believe the End Zone Militia also became employees before the start of the 2014 season.

They get $60 a season to cover gas and gun powder

Well then your post has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand since the Patriots are not a publicly held corporation.

Thank you for participating, but please remain on topic going forward.

He didn't say the patriots were a publicly held corporation. He just said corporation. Patriots employees are technically employed by the Kraft Group, a private corporation.

Thanks man. That doesn't change the fact that I know little about business classification outside of the nonprofit arena.

It really doesn't matter. They're still subject to labor laws whether they are a public company or not.

I agree, I was being silly

Exactly, which is why they would be smart to go to an all-volunteer squad.

i disagree, but i'm not about to debate that point with someone who doesn't know that a corporation does not have to be publicly traded.

LOL, they actually get $750-1,000 per season.
Maybe that $750-$1000 dollars is reimbursement for parking at Gillette 10 times a season.

Not according to the person I know who is a leader in the group.
I don't know who that person is, but I just texted my brother-in-law who has been doing it since 1999 to ask and he responded with the figure I quoted. That's all I can tell you.

That's fine I am just quoting what I was told by a guy who has been doing it for at least that long. And that's all I can tell you.

What figure did he give you?

$60 for gunpowder and money to cover gas for the season
Now it all makes sense. That's what your pal tells you and the IRS. I just rechecked with my brother-in-law by phone and he laughed out loud when I gave him your figure. Either that or your guy is getting screwed.

Knowing him he is getting screwed

Do me a favor: Go into the business world and use the term "corporation" to refer to privately-held, incorporated entities.

They won't openly laugh at you, but trust me when I say they'll be thinking "ok this guy doesn't know what he is talking about."

Then, according to some in here, they are being exploited and should sue the Patriots also.
Nah, they also get fed after the game.
