What if Edelman doesn't play?

OL RB WR NICKEL CORNER TE2

I dont think we're ever going to agree on this since your point is we need upgrades and not backups.

How are you going to upgrade over Solder and Vollmer? Surely you don't expect to do that in this upcoming draft especially given their contracts. By definition, they are looking for backup tackles.

Mason and Jackson are rookies, and they look better at guard as any rookies for the Patriots that I can remember. Center with Stork and Andrews is set.

Are you saying we need starters?

I agree with RB. I have that as my #1 need.

WR is a need as well, but with Edelman, Amendola and Keyshawn Martin, we are talking about the need for a #4 receiver.

TE is my 4th need.

We are absolutely set in the DBackfield. Justin Coleman, Darryl Roberts, Leonard Johnson, Logan Ryan, Tarell Brown, Malcolm Butler at CB. Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon, Jordan Richards, Tavon Wilson, Nate Ebner. 12 guys. That's a lot.

You must really like Freeney.

You are naming names that aren't start quality and need to be upgraded which is exactly my point.
Jackson and mason have been terrible.
They are only playing now because we have no one else. Volmer and solder are fine if they can play. Cannon and Fleming have starter a combined 15 games. With the health issues of volmer which seems to be an every year thing and solders short term contract wouldn't it be nice to have a 3rd starting caliber Ot. He is likely to play more than 20% of the snaps.
The OL is the worst we have had since 2000 right now of course it's a glaring need.
Amendola may be a cap casualty and is as injury prone as any player on the team. Martin is not a starting WR.
You named a bunch of dbs but you didn't name the starting nickel corner that's in the roster. Johnson was grabbed off the scrap heap and lit up by the freaking Dolphins. Coleman Is a Udfa who had played a handful of games.
Michael freaking Williams is playing over 50% of the snaps out of position as a OT playing TE.
Rb is a huge need.
These are all more important needs than a guy who will play 20% of the time. We needs to add LBs but it is not as big a need as those. I understand this is your way of voicing dislike for freeny but that doesn't change what the needs are

So you want Trey Jackson and Shaq Mason replaced. By guys that are rookies. You don't see how absurd that sounds? These 2 were some of the higher rated guards from last year. Thrown into the fire with a shifting O-line.

As for your points about TE, WR and RB, did you read my post where RB was #1 need? Deus and I have been arguing WR needs for years, and most people have been instead resorting to Dobson, Dobson, Dobson!!

Let's face it, the difference we see is that you believe a guy like, say, Greg Pyke will replace Jackson or Mason. That's a waste.

All of that is speculation.
You don't even know for sure what the injury is, nor do the 'medical personnel' who 'universally stated' something about an injury to a patient they never examined.
It certainly is not a good sign that he couldn't play in critical games down the stretch. The concept that he could and BB chose not to is pure unadulterated speculation, with zero confirmation.

I really hope your guess is right, but it is still just a guess.

I agree that no one knows about the medical conditions. I disagree that there were critical games down the stretch. The three games left are one or done.

I guess some coaches would have played all the guys on inactive list; I'm glad Belichick didn't. If Denver loses in the first round, which wouldn't surprise me, then the last game wouldn't have mattered.

Playoffs are critical. We piled up enough wins to get in before the rash of injuries hit.

I expect, given 2 weeks, that the Pats will work a lot with Martin, LaFell, White and Gronk, in case they need to go slow with dola and Edelman.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them limit the snaps if they get out to a lead in the pre-Super Bowl games.

Players sitting out is a bad sign for their availability next game. Saying BB didn't care about HFA is rationalizing.

So, playing injured players, possibly aggravating there injuries, is a good sign?

I think what your missing is, we all know we have injured players, we don't need "signs."

Doctors recommend rest and rehabilitation usually, not to keep putting stress on the injury, at least for feet and knees.

I'm not sure why you are intent on making up a point of view calling it mine and arguing with yourself.
When a player is incapable of playing week 17 in a game with HFA on the line that would tend to indicate the chances that he can play in the playoffs aren't as good.
Why you would think playing the guy who can't play increases his chances is beyond me but I think it's because you want to make up a point so you have one.

U are right ....he's going to be pretty rusty Hard to imagine he will be on any kind of pitch count or kid gloves in this one as it HAS TO BE ALL hands on deck in this game. Time will tell how effective he will be....but without an EFFECTIVE Edelman....and without them finding a way to "spring" Gronk (i.e. Get him out of those double and sometimes triple teams) we will have a very hard time winning this game....especially with our inept OL

There's no doubt Edelman will play. The only question is can he last the whole game and how rusty he is. Even Gronk and Brady took a few games after injury to peak. For a player that relies on extremely quick change of direction, I think the rust will show.

Nothing will matter if the ol can't pass block. We need vollmer back healthy and effective.
OL is the primary factor here and our Achilles heel....if they lose in the trenches ....doesn't matter much about rest of offense. Good points

.

We have an injured 4th receiver, LaFell, who was cast into a #1 role.. injuries and drawing the best CB did not work out to well for him.

Ok so you like our OL. Gotcha.

Why are you like this? What is wrong with you?

I like a very injured O-Line? Really, that's the best you can do?

I like the O-line that protected Tom Brady THIS YEAR while he was on a record-setting pace.

Stop being a pissant.

He is reverting back to form.

The Patriots definitely need an upgrade at outside WR. But I've been saying this since Randy Moss left.

Ok thanks for showing me there is no point having a conversation with you.

A "Randy Moss" type receiver is not the same as a "Brandon LaFell" type receiver.. you would be talking about complimenting Edelman rather than a 4th option..

You're talking in circles. I am glad we rested some guys to give them a better chance to be effective in the playoffs, period.

If I could clone Randy Moss I would. I'm talking about an outside receiver like Martavis Bryant--who went in the 4th round.

The starting nickle corner is currently on IR. Darryl Roberts.

He will have been practicing for 5 weeks.
