I love this team.

To spin things in a positive way, they're a team decimated by injuries and they're still 10-2. Most years this would mean they're easily in first place right now, but this year they just happen to have two other teams also 10-2. They really had no business losing today, but they also could've lost a couple other games this year that we wouldn't have faulted them for losing (like the Giants game or the Jets game), so it somewhat balances out. Sh*t happens.

Like I said in the thread I posted last week, I would rather go into the playoffs with all my guys ready to go in a lower seed than get a better seed but be less healthy. They're nearly guaranteed the 3 seed if they can just win a couple more games (which we know they will) and if one of the Broncos or Bengals drop a game to Pitt or someone else (which they probably will), they might still get a bye. I would gladly play another playoff game if it meant having Jules and Gronk back at 100% or close to it.

Loved the fight at the end of the game. It shows me even through all the mistakes and the bad luck at times, they still want it bad. They've got the drive. That's what's most important. Keep the spark alive and bring back the weapons, we've got this thing.

TL;DR team is hurt; seeding doesn't matter if everyone is healthy; I like fire; go pats

No silver lining in a 10-1 team lossing to a 4-7 team that has been crushed the last 2 games. Total disgrace and they should be ashamed of themselves. No excuses, Pats sucked ass today. One would have thought that the loss to Denver would have motivated them. Instead, just like against Denver they get an early 14 point lead only to lose. Embarrassing loss. They need to show some balls next week and crush them.

I understand the patriots don't have the weapons, but being conservative last 2 minutes before the half are beginning to be annoying.
They actually needed to be more conservative right before the half.

Even if it may only be for a week, I can't imagine Bengals are #1 seed now....just pathetic...

At least Denver and the Bengals play each other.

Not to be facetious, but the Patriots have a s—t game like this one every year, almost like clockwork.

Heck, the 17–2 2004 Patriots team should have been 18–1, but they gave away a game to Miami that they had no business losing.

It has more to do with the situation. Most of those dog games happen early in the year when the team hasn't gelled and it isn't must win games. The Pats needed to step up after a loss and they gave away the game and possibly HFA.

Pats go from #1 to #3 seed - check
Rest 3 AFC teams win - check

Bengals and Broncos have to play each other. Pats win out they are at worst a #2.

Ummm . . . if they had won that game, they would have been 15–1, just like the #1 seed that year, Pittsburgh. Oh, and it was in December too.

That game was an epic meltdown.

I'm pissed at some of the stupid coaching decisions and erratic play today but this team is scuffling along without the big guns.

Need Gronk
Need Coleman
Need Edelman
Need more cohesion with the line.

To fight back against that kind of adversity?

I'm never happy about a loss but that late game effort is exactly the sort of stuff that Belichick saw in the KC game last year.

A lesser team, having just lost a heartbreaker, would have folded. We didn't win and unlike Denver I don't think you can make an argument that we deserved to win. But that last quarter showed that this team has the heart to repeat.

Thank you for starting this thread, I was about to slit my wrists when I saw this.

216 all purpose yards? Punt runabck? Sproles is objective #1 when the Pats break down the Eagles as far as keeping him under control. They missed the memo obviously.

Look, this game sucked plain and simple. The fact that they DID compete and still had a slim chance speaks to the character of this team. They need their front line skill players and Hightower back at full strength.Win the division. Be healthy for the playoffs. Puncher's chance is all I want.

in 2004 we were 12-1 and lost to that awful 2-11 Miami team when still tied record wise with Pitt for HFA remember... we won it all anyway of course

You had to go back 11 years to find an example. I am saying most of the dog games were early in the year.

And all I am saying games like this usually don't happen this late in the year. It has nothing to do with how they will do the rest of the way. It is just uncommon which makes it frustrating. You seem to agree with me since you are pointing to a game over a decade old.

I never said that losing a game like this this late means anything other than it is rare and frustrating.
