I hope they put Talib on Gronk. Gronk will have a huge day.

Point being that Harris may not attempt to cover Edelman one-on-one. We'll have to see.

Talib's done a fair job of covering the opposing team's top target plenty of times, so one would have to think that it would be their best shot at limiting both main targets. That's including HOF TEs like Gonzalez, etc.

In my opinion, yahoo sports is probably the worst site for actual sports news in the entire web. I don't know what they look for in their writers, but they should probably change that criteria. Yahoo sports makes sites such as Bleacher Report look reputable, and I'm not just saying that because I don't like what they have to say. They're honestly just terrible.
You are correct, but it is frustrating to see another completely unsubstantiated headline "suggesting" that the Pats are at it again. This is even 2 days AFTER the NFL itself came out an said it was nothing. There is no reason at all to run that story, except if it was part of an agenda.

Sure there's a reason...just call me Dead Horse Killer Joe...

Lions still struggle in London, lose to Chiefs 45-10 - could Jim Caldwell be fired?

"Roger...you will be in London this weekend?"

"yes, for the integrity of the game, I ,Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, will be in London to get our partnership with Yahoo sports off the ground"

"but commissioner, aren't you troubled by Yahoo's shoddy and erroneous reporting of NFL news? Rog??? Mr Goodell?? where'd he go?"

Lol Talib on Gronk some of you crack me up. Let them do that also doing that plus doubling Julian, Amendola and Lafell would have a good day.
Can't wait to see Manning try to beat us cause BB will make sure they stop the run.

When I watch the other games realize that this "parity" is just a convenient term for really sucky teams and really sucky coaching, it is an NFL buzzword that means little..

Watching the Steelers final drive in an effort to tie the game up, and there was no sense of urgency(as Pats fans know sense of urgency), no effort to stop the clock by sideline patterns and in general lousing coaching decisions... a fan of New England sure is lucky.

Then there was the two consecutive time outs by Seattle and referees not knowing the rules.. but that is in Dallas where the owners refer to Greg Hardy as a "leader" and want to give him a long term contract..

Everyone is talking Gronk and Edelman (to a lesser degree), and maybe rightfully so, but Dion Lewis is where is starts, IMO. Can their LB's match up in both the running and passing game. Denver's D can handle a back like Blount because they're so quick to the point of attack. How do they match up against someone who is quick to the point of attack and can switch directions on a dime? Denver has great defensive team speed, so being able to counter that with Lewis is a plus. He's the chess piece I'll be watching.

It's certainly a possibility, considering that he's their tallest, most gifted CB who's used to taking on the opposition's physical WR1 or TE1. He seemed to do just fine against Tony Gonzalez when we needed him to. If he routinely covers guys like Dez Bryant, Julio Jones etc, why wouldn't it be a possibility?

You really think they'll waste him on LaFell? Obviously, he's not going to cover Edelman. They'll likely have a LB chip him at the LOS, then Talib will assist in coverage. It's a distinct possibility that was brought up on the broadcast Thursday night.

Not sure how this discussion "cracks you up," but maybe you can fill us in with your expertise on the matter?

Lewis' speed and shiftiness does indeed make him a great piece to have. It allows us to get rid of the ball quickly and take advantage of mismatches.

?

Didnt he shut down jimmy graham too that year?

Hopefully though denver is stupid enough ti put him on edelman.

but but but...he's the greatest QB!!!!
********, a glorified front runner. he folds under the pressure time and time again

Yeah im a rodgers fan but aside from the 2010 title run, he has come up small in a lot of big spots.

Yeah, he pretty much completely shut down Graham. I just didn't include it since Gronk vs Graham is such a different animal, and I figured people would jump on that.

I just don't really see who else he'd cover, to be honest? Who knows how they'll approach it, but it will make for some good individual match ups, and hopefully we can exploit the 2nd/3rd/4th options.

Rodgers not audibling out of that playcall speaks volumes. His precious inflated QBR!

After going 14/22 for 77 yards with 3 sacks, he finishes with a QBR of 60. When Brady goes 20-27 for 275 yards, 2 TDs and no INTs, his QBR is 24. If that is not the definition of a stupid system, I don't know what is.

Brady also had a rushing TD that game :)

Where I think this system fails is in punishing a QB (or not giving him any credit) for scores where they subjectively judge that the receiver did all or most of the work.

For example, Lewis' amazing TD where he makes 4-5 Dallas wouldbe tacklers miss on his way to the touchdown.

Not giving Brady any credit for this 1st and Goal touchdown is shortsighted in my opinion. If this is indeed what ESPN is [not] doing. Lewis would have gotten 3-5 yards with minimal effort depending on how he fell/was tackled. Maybe they'd have a case for minimizing the QB's role in this TD if it had come on 3rd and Goal. But as it was, Brady was going to have another two shots from the 5 yard line to make a TD.

That and great quarterbacks make it look easy.

If BB tries to stop the the run, it will a first . Historically BB has allowed manning teams to run the football and have him throw in coverage. But we saw how kubiak's offense in baltimore gave our defense a lot of trouble in the playoff game and even generally the zone running of this shanahan, kubiak offense has always given BB some trouble. So its going to be interesting what BB tries. Stop the run and boot legs first or let them run vs a light box but play coverage.
But a lot of time between now and pats game to think of anything . IF their TE's green and daniels emerge as big targets in the next few weeks then the game plan might change even more.

The rookie out of Dallas, played Gronk really well . So it is possible mix and match coverage on gronk and limit him.

Carton and Bloomer must have run out of Kleenex this morning...

Wrong. It is never cool.. It only makes you a worse douchebag than the person you are wishing it on..

Yeah, right. I am quite sure there is no member of this forum even in Hardy's league in that regard. You're being absurd.
