Bedard Listening Thread

Sorry but you're an insignificant, miniscule minority, and don't speak Patriot fans.

This is everyone else, and this is during the media assault you were basking in, before the Bengals game

Tom's untouchable in these parts.
"Anyone talking nonsense about Tom Brady is not from New England"

Pretty much sums it up.

Hate away, but it isn't going to get you anywhere. Nobody is listening.

i am definitely a minority in this

but other people, like you, are obviously concerned about it......because otherwise my views wouldn't bother you....you would just ignore them or agree to disagree

i have been honest about being a BB fan first.....Patriots fan second

Can't you harmonize Bedard and Breer re Gronk though? Bedard is saying, they have no one who can cover him. Breer might not be disagreeing with that, but thinks that they will devote whatever resources they have to (e.g., redirect at line, followed by bracket coverage) in order to make someone else beat them. I think both statements are correct.

No, Breer says that the Ravens are equipped to take away Gronk with Mosely and Hill doubling him. He basically said Gronk will be a non-factor in this game (might get something like 30-40 yards) and the Pats will need Edelman and LaFell to step up.

BTW, his prediction for the game is 17-14 Patriots which tells me that he does truly believe Gronk will be a non-factor and the Pats win this game on defense.

Your "views" bother me only because it's annoying when other people, who don't know the difference between you and everybody else, listen to your nonsense and then start saying "bandwagon Pats fans wanted to trade Brady" as they talk about what awful, ungrateful people we are.

We already did this in week #4. My interest in doing it again is zero.

Keep dreaming. Tom is New England's and that's just the way it's going to be.

Brady just had one of his best seasons to date with no signs of significant decline.
i thought it was a good year......but also very up and down

i'll just have to respectfully disagree about no signs of a decline

led the team to another number 1 seed.

defense helped with that.....so did healthy gronk......who is probably the best weapon in the league

The first mistake is you call them ANALYSTS when they are actually reporters.

Re: Gronk. Bedard is looking at who can cover them, Breer at who they will try to take away.
(as an aside, it cracks me up how people will look at a strength or 2 of a team and think that will decide a game. teams are rarely doomed, unless they stink. Bmores strength is the pass rush. That means the Patriots will devise a game plan to take that strength away with personell, scheme, play calling etc. Yes if the Patriots ignore who the opponent is and run a vanilla non-opponent specific game plan, they will get hurt by the pass rush. Instead they will likely make neutralizing the pass rush the top priority)

I'm sure opinion on Monroe is split among many 'reporters' Top 3 pick(?) who has underperformed is textbook for that.

Breer seems like a guy who makes it up as he goes, in my opinion, by the way.

Well, both kinda mix both the reporter and analyst role with their current jobs. They are not straight reporters like say Adam Schefter and they are not pure analysts either.

I agree with your assessment about Bedard, but Breer truly believes the Ravens will either shutdown Gronk or make his contribution minimal. He may think that taking away Gronk is a top priority on defense (who doesn't), but he also thinks that the Ravens have the horses to do it.

It is funny that both Bedard and Breer though say that somewhere in the playoffs a team will likely take away Gronk and the other receivers will have to step up. Breer thinks it is the Ravens. I think Bedard is looking to the Seahawks.

if brady is still the QB in 2017 and we are still here, then i will admit i was a clueless moron.....and you can laugh at how dumb i was

thats the best i can do

While Belichick nominally has final say over the roster, my understanding is there are certain things (most notably, IIRC, trades) where the owner must sign off on the transaction.

I remember that Kraft insisted on meeting with Randy Moss before that trade was finalized.

If he isn't it'll be because he retired, even if that retirement came from a heartfelt discussion with Kraft and Belichick. Since it's 2015 right now and he's an MVP Candidate quarterback for the #1 seed of the AFC, I'm guessing 2017 isn't the year that happens.

When he is no longer here, It isn't going to be because Bill traded him to the Jaguars so you can have giggle fits with Felger.

Yeah, but if they're doubling him, that means they have no who can cover him. Brady is not going to throw it to him much if there is a guy in front of him and behind him. The Jets, despite having no one to cover him, limited him this year (11 for 99, 1 TD in 2 games), presumably by devoting more than 1 guy to him.

We'll see.

i stand on the side that wants brady as our QB as long as he is the best option.....which includes this past year and next year.......i dont want him as our QB at 40, 41, etc. just because we won 3 SBs over a decade ago

seymour and law and harrison had a lot to do with those SBs too.......they are long gone

Who cares how old he is as long as he is still playing well? Favre had a couple of good years in Minnesota at ages 40-41 (lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game at age 40).

Would feel more comfortable with this had Brady thrown to more than 2 WR's this year.

An Amendola emergence will be key to this strategy.

He may be THE crucial key to the game.

I agree on using the full receiving corps. Amendola might have a slightly prominent role - maybe four or five targets to keep the Ravens honest. I expect more Vereen than usual against this pass rush, and Tim Wright if the Ravens are dedicating a safety on top and a linebacker in coverage to Gronkowski.

The Jets numbers are skewed. The first game, Gronk was still limited and not playing at full strength. The second game, Edelman was out allowing the Jets to give extra attention to Gronk without worrying about another target picking up the slack.

And most elite receivers take double teams to shut them down unless you have an elite player to cover him.

And Bedard doesn't believe the Ravens can slow him down with a double team. Breer thinks they can. Most teams doubled Gronk all year, and once Gronk was right, most teams were unable to slow him down even with a double team. And Brady has been throwing to him a lot this year when he was double covered. Gronk's catch radius allows Brady to throw it over the defenders' heads.

thats my point.....as long as he is the best option

brady probably takes better care of himself than favre and is more cerebral.....but favre was more athletic and robust......time will tell

Another perhaps over looked aspect of this game that makes me confident is the physicality of this Patriots team.

I don't want to knock them, but I feel like in our previous match ups we had a much smaller, softer, weaker, technique-centric football team that the dirty Ravens could take cheap shots against with immunity, and basically bully. This isn't going to be the case on Saturday. If the Ravens want to play street-ball this week, our Browner infused defense will start laying people out, and any dives at Gronkowski's knees, cheap shots, or any other manifestation of typical Ravens football will be paid back in kind two fold.

That alone is going to be a significant difference maker.

This year we're the bullies.

I thought you wanted to evaluate Brady year by year? Why does that change at age 40?

i do want to evaluate him year by year

i think he should be our QB next year

i think its too early to say he should be our QB in 2017

i wont know how i feel about that until that time comes

Kraft can overrule BB on matters pertaining to the franchise; that is probably an unspoken condition in their contract.

Drew Bledsoe was practically his son. So, I don't agree with you there.
