I'll go one better than yours, i'm in a relationship and by that i don't mean with a blow up doll in my 'mom's basement'
I think reviewing the game thread is a little much... People get pretty upset in the moment as they're watching the game live. It's hard to control sometimes. Some of it's just venting.
I understand becoming more strict about individual threads though.
When the pats suck and lose...they come out of the woodwork. If they won by 30 you wouldn't see 1/4 of these people.I can't even stand to see of the threads on here. Is there an option to hide them? I hate seeing the brady is finished, this is the end, brady is washed up, etc.. threads. Makes me feel like crap

Granted I know the dust is still settling, but moving forward I want everyone to be aware that the types of threads, posts will have a little more stringent requirements.
When a thread is started, the point is to have it filled with information and thoughts that can produce productive discussions. I get that people are upset, but I'm not willing to let this place melt down with a dozen plus threads that are nothing more than glorified b:&$ch sessions and rants. That's obviously what there a lot of here right now. You'll see quite a few close down when I get home tonight, so get it out of your system now.
Many of you are witnessing the first signs of adversity and weren't here back during 5-11 seasons, so you have no perspective when it comes to seeing this team genuinely struggle. You've seen over a decade of winning seasons, go back through history, that's not the norm. It seems we may start to see more weeks like this based on what's transpired. It sucks and it's frustrating, but there's no need to make this place unbearable. So I need those of you, without singling any of you out, who fall into that category to reign it in and think long and hard about starting a new thread that goes against what I'm asking.
It's simple, if you fall into this category moving forward, you'll receive a warning and that thread will be deleted. If it happens again, you'll lose your ability to start threads.
Also, getting upset during a game at the team in the game thread and then taking it out on other posters is also not going to be tolerated. I'm letting last night go as a freebee, but from now on I'm reviewing the entire game thread after each contest and if I see it being done, it's the same two strike policy. One gets you a warning, another could subject you to losing posting privileges.
These will come from me, not the mods, as I'm not going to have them be questioned for fairness. I'll have them contact me if there's an issue and then I'll deal with each and every one from there.
We have 12 games left at the minimum and no matter how tough things get this will be a place where we can talk football and will remain a productive place for the rest of the season. Thank you in advance for the people who will help adhere to this.

Was I angry over last nite's game? Of course...but it's not my life My life is my family not football . Anyway, truth b told, when I first started watching football..I was a NY football Giants fan. Back in the 50's they were the only game in town..or region

I would hope we're all homers here. If not, what's the point?Ian -
I appreciate all that you've done to establish this community. With respect to this thread, I think your effort to bring meaningful content and organization is a good one.
As often is the case, there is a bit of thread drift and you are getting some other feedback. For my part, I understand that people are going to have emotional reactions and sometimes speak (or write) out of frustration. These things have a way of escalating. Without actually meeting the people here, we form impressions of them by the way they interact with others.
Although I do not post nearly as much as some others, I have tried to offer my opinions in a respectful manner. I have tried my best to avoid the back and forth that all too often degenerates into petty bickering and name-calling. (I'm fairly certain that in whatever instances my actions in this regard have come up short of my intentions, one or more of my fellow posters will be quick to point this out.)
I would prefer to be able to post my opinion without being belittled as a "blind homer" as though that's some kind of moral failing. I really don't agree with the characterization; my views on this are somewhat nuanced and would likely bore others so I'll keep them to myself.
I have no problem with other points of view. Quite the contrary, I enjoy spirited debate when actually talking about the issues. If people want to be critical of the team, have at it. That's why we're here.
My hope is that we can somehow confine the conversation to the issues and leave the personal attacks out of it. That's everybody, the so-called homers, the chicken littles and (perhaps my own private category) the conscientious objectors.
Ian - hope this helps. Thanks again for all that you do here.

BRING BACK N.E.M!
I should probably say my goodbyes to everyone before that next game thread.
I am a "homer" and very proud of it. I mostly start the game thread but rarely post on it. Why? Because I actually watch the game and don't want to get distracted by typing on the keyboard or read what others post during the game. If other people want to post during the game that is what that thread is for.And when the Patriots win, the homers come out and crow, and rub it in the faces of those who might have doubted. When they lose, the homers either attack those critiquing the game or try to disappear. Pretty much every complaint the homers have is something that others could make about them, if you flip the starting position. It's the nature of forums.
