Running back

I REALLY like local product Andre Williams of Boston College. He runs with violence, running style reminds me so much of former 49er Roger Craig. I think he'd be a perfect replacement for Blount. Maybe we can get him in the 3rd or 4th round ?

It's certainly a possibility, especially if he's still there in the 4th or so.

A highlight film isn't the best way to gauge the strengths/weaknesses in a prospect, but I just wanted to share this one about LaDarius Perkins.

To me, it illustrates the "flexback" skills needed to backup Vereen and another low draft/UDFA option for us if we miss out on Marion Grice.

I'd add Ben Malena to the "if not Marion Grice" list.

After Maroneys highlight video suckered me in I completely came to reality that those things are nothing but a compilation of good things spread out over college career in most cases.

Though I do enjoy actual college games or 10 or 20 minute clips against stiff competition, particular match ups against certain players or groupings.

Yep, nobody ever compiles a career lowlights video! when I'm looking for clips of a player, I include the search term "vs." to focus on videos that show every clip of a particular game.

It would seems like they would have to draft somebody considering that all three of their RB are FA after this season.

I agree with you and I would rather have complete game film because I don't want to flood the board with these "highlights".

I was just having trouble sleeping last night and wanted to play around with the board's new media feature.

Plus, I was just having some fun with Manx.

I think ,as supafly mentioned earlier, Ridley and Vereen are unrestricted free agents and Bolden is a restricted one.

This site is truly awesome, thank you. The best part of the draft is the pure joy it delivers. I don't know how to explain it any other way, other that it is amazing.

Have you considered creating a stack based on your impressions? That would be super interesting.

Example - group players
Superbeast
Beast
Studhourse

Best Buys, etc.

I know that is a lot of work, so another way to ask is "Which players do you think have a chance to be available when the Pats pick and can make an impact?"

Honored you love it, Brother John!! Thank you!! :D

I've considered compiling a Big Board, and may well, one of these Years...

I'll try to answer the 2nd question at some point...But right now: Sleep is beckoning!! :D

Kiper was on Mike and Mike this morning. Right at the end they asked Mel what about rb's? Kind of a forgotten position. Mel talked about the value teams might get. Doesn't think one will be picked until around 45. I can see us trading back. Pick a couple of linemen in the 2nd. Take a rb with the 3 we get for trading back.

That just depends on how jaded a team's fans are with a certain player. I've seen some out there!

Bump. Off The Grid has updated his site with excellent scouting reports on many of the running backs mentioned in this thread.

http://www.fanaticalyankee.com/

***P.S., Grid could you give me your thoughts on Albert Wilson even if it's a scathing report?***

Wrapping up my last Scouting Reports of the Season, this week, Brother Cole.

Had a chance to sit down and watch Wilson against Troy and Alabama. I think there's something there, but I couldn't find enough on those two Tapes to feel I could justify a Scouting Report.

I could definitely be wrong, because it's only two Tapes ~ the latter an incredible mismatch!! ~ and because I am myself extremely raw in the Scouting department, having only just recently taken this up, but I have serious concerns about his Blocking and those God-awful Hands of his.

He's got terrific Long Speed, but pretty moderate Agility, it seems to me. And I didn't get a good impression of his Route Running, which was corroborated by the few scraps of Scouting I could find on the kid. I sure love his Navigation after the Catch, though: Home Run Potential.

I don't write up UFA's unless I feel that I can give them at least a 4th/5th Round Grade, because if I didn't draw a line thereabouts, I'd never leave my Computer!!

But I certainly saw enough to warrant a 7th Round Flier on the kid.

Next Draft Season ~ which for me starts early Monday Morning!! :D ~ will be my first with something resembling an organized Schedule finally in place, so I hope to have virtually all my Reports done by the morning of the Draft from now on...though of course there'll always be special cases.

Thanks kindly for bringing Wilson to my attention, Brother Cole...and I hope you can read this!! ;)

James White at 130 overall? If Bill wanted a RB that early, then he would've been better-served
taking Andre Williams at 105, then Bryan Stork at 130; and if Stork is gone, no biggie whatsoever:
he wasn't close at all to being the best available C/G in the 4th round (or 5th or even 6th round either).

"Not even close at all"? The remaining centers drafted starting #130 -- real centers, not developmental projections -- were Corey Linsley, Luke Bowanko, Matt Paradis, and Demetrius Rhaney. You really liked a bunch of those guys? IMO they would have amounted to a big welcome-back hug to Ryan Wendell.

I'll grant that there were other OLs I liked in general. Wesley Johnson is an appealing utility guy on the model of Dan Connolly, but with his long, narrow build center doesn't look like his best position. John Urschel does looks like a legitimate long-term C prospect to me, but he's never played a snap at the position. And recalling some of your less than loving remarks about Wendell, I'm guessing you're on board with the ASAP plan for a replacement. ;)

So I would much, MUCH rather have had Stork at #105 than Andre Williams. My quibble with White isn't the player or the "value," which was pretty much on target. It's that I wanted an LB more. (That said, a lot of the LBs that fan draftniks were drooling over were drafted late or not at all. It was a weird LB class this year.)

Gonna put your money where your mouth is, Bro? ;)

This is your chance: Post your BackDraft here and then exult in your Greatness for years to come!! :D

Show us how it's done, Brother Stone...if...you...dare!!

I'm not really to sure about that..

I mean look Andre Williams has potential to play 1st or 2nd downs in the NFL but I don't think he'll ever play 3rd downs. Granted I could be wrong but there's a reason why he only had 10 career catches in college. Take that into account and the fact that Shane Vereen can't stay healthy I think James White is a better fit.

yep, if Belichick took him then he must suck, that's why this team is a perennial loser because he can't pick the right players. Year after year after year picking top 5 because Belichick doesn't have a clue. The Patriots need to search mother's basements all over america for that one fantasy GM and Maddenite who can make all the gith choices and get this team back on track because as Patriot fans we should not have to put up with year after year of losing seasons.

In my Draft they took Aaron Donald with their 1st pick, Anthony Barr with their second, then Sammy Watkins and Evans, after that they used their late picks on Darqueze Dennard and Carlos Hyde as well as Jake Mathews and Greg Robinson who they will slide inside. Bottom line, no way Belichick can top my draft, and i am just an amateur.
