Pats Turned Down a Sweet Trade in Round 2

The first 6-8 spots of round 2 are where jewels are found, and when one falls to you, you best take him. We learned that last year passing on McConkey.
Plus we already had a lot of draft capital with all our picks plus an additional high 3rd, and also dropping 20 spots from 38 is quite a drop. We made the right move there.

No need to rush to the podium for a RB early in the second round. They can be gotten late in the draft. Like the Chiefs’ Pacheco, Kyle Monangai from Rutgers will be another seventh round gem. Not a speed merchant. But tough and dependable, willing to pass block and a good locker room presence.

Yep. If they followed your advice they would have Spencer Rattler at QB and Kyle Monangai at RB. Way better than Drake Maye and Henderson. You could easily win 1-2 games in the CFL with those two. Wait a second, actually you wouldn’t win any games in any league with those two as your QB/RB combination.

I have to say State, for a guy who follows the draft as closely as you do you have absolutely terrible judgement when it comes to taking players.

I don't think he has terrible judgement pre draft but when the Pats actually take someone then that player immediately becomes the worst ever at their respective position.

State thinks Verdarian Lowe is better than Will Campbell, Spencer Rattler is better than Drake Maye, and wanted them to pass on Henderson and take Kyle Monangai. If they did they would have the first pick in the draft for years to come. And don’t anyone say “ at least they would get Arch Manning,” because State wouldn’t draft him as he already has his franchise QB in Spencer Rattler. And while I agree that he hasn’t shown this kind of ignorance pre draft, his choices come draft day are horrendous.

I understand the point of maximizing the overall value in the draft, but there is a point where the athletically gifted guys run out, and only above average guys are left.
