I didnt say you can get there with a moron; I said you dont have to have a top-5. Plenty of game managers have won SBs. Hell, TB's first SB -- HE WAS A GAME MANAGER not a top 5 (and you can argue # 2 as well). And there are plenty more grossmans out there in the nfl history books.
Flacco had 4 good games in 2012 after a season-long meeh. that aint top-5, that is "GOT LUCKY". (he threw for the same 59% completion rate 225yd per game avg in post season, but in 16 games threw 22 TDs and in 4 PS threw 11 TDs. In 16 games he threw 10 INTs and in 4 postseason a big 0 [That was the difference]. That still doesnt make him top 5.
Eli you could have a better argument that he played as a top 5 for 2011 (and that year ONLY); his comp % for that post season is 5-10 % higher than any other year in his career before or since. And the season-year was his 2d best in 10 years. But again he hit lightening in a bottle for 4 games; GOT LUCKY ain't a HOF, top-5, legacy QB. If he protected the ball better throughout the career I would be generous to call him a good 'game manager'.
Dont get confused by the fact that avg run-of-mill QBs today can throw for 4K yards in a season. That doesnt make them GREAT.
I would say you need a top 10 QB to win it all. Look at Kaepernick. He's got a bunch of talent but seems to make crucial errors. Same with Tony Romo. I think the days of the Trent Dilfer are over. You would need to get lucky and not face a team with a great defense to get it done.
I'm not sure you can win with Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler, Alex Smith etc.
