Seahawks CB Brandon Browner meeting with Pats Thursday 3/13

He'd make up for some size we lost in the secondary with Talib (and then some).

Plus, IIRC, BB seemed pretty high on him around the time of the Seattle game in 2012.

Don't let him leave without a contract. This would be huge.

If BB signs BB I am not sure if my heart can take it, but I am willing to risk it. This completely resets the D if Browner signs. Gimme Jared Allen and I will completely lose my mind officially.....

Sign these beasts BB!!!!!!

Would bring much needed attitude, among other things. Bring me the salary cap file.

With Revis here and possibly a Browner signing with our DEF players healthy will give opposing OC nitemares! Would be cool if W'Woodyard could be here as well in mix.

Can the Patriots structure a contract with Browner like the following:

small signing bonus
vet min salary (as Browner is suspended games 1-4 and has to work 4 weeks but gives back game checks)
large roster bonus for the 1st day of Week 9 of this season (this replaces the normal salary he otherwise would have gotten). If this roster bonus is not given, he gets a seperation fee equal to the roster bonus.
Per game roster bonuses of $125,000 for remainder of the season

Regular contract structure for any out years.

the NFL really frowns on any attempt to circumvent their policies

This would be huge. I mean think about it. Revis,Browner,Dennard,Ryan, Arrington. Talk about deep. Throw all the WR's you want on the field it wont matter because our #3 CB and #4 CB will be better than your #3 and #4 WR.

This happens and this Defense will be aggressive because they know they are covered on the back end. It's really exciting to think of it. With that said it needs to happen . We have very little cap room so a lot of things need to happen. Wilfork restructure,McC extension etc.

If the Pats sign Browner to patrol the SS spot, there's an easy $1m free up available.

I love Adrian Wilson - consider him the consummate professional - and I really would love to see him have a good year or two to go out on a high note. But he's a loooooong shot at this point.

That's the head hunting safety we've needed since Rodney. Sign the god damn beast!

With Dennard at the other corner and in jail we officially have Revis and Butthead at cornerback.

Technically they would only free up about $670k after accounting for the player replacing him on the top 51. I would give him a shot in camp, see if he's got anything left because the savings aren't too significant.

I'm really hoping he doesn't make that trip

CB Brandon Browner will visit the Redskins tonight, per league source.

Revis, Browner, Steve Smith would make for one hell of a FA period for the Patriots.

Typically, the first visit is the player's top choice. So the fact he is coming here first, he will sign with the Pats if he feels the money is right.

I think Smith will go to Baltimore. Hear there is a mutual interest. I don't think Smith likes the Patriots. Some bad blood dating back to the 2003/2004 Super Bowl.

That's the head hunting safety we've needed since Rodney. Sign the god damn beast!

He'd be a head hunting safety who can also plan man coverage, and who can match up with any TE in the league. That's a great combination. And with Revis making the field "smaller", he'd be even more effective.

Sign the god damn beast!

Technically, not really. You would replace Wilson with Browner, not another player, so you subtract Wilson's full number, and add Browner's full number. IE Browner is signed for 2 million, Wilson's cap hit is 1 million, cut Wilson, save a million, and Browner add 2 million, total salary goes up $1million.

But signing Browner is knocking someone else off the roster anyway because we are over 51 players. So you sign Browner for $2mil, keep Wilson and lose the 51st guy in the roster at $495k and you only save about $500k more ($671k I think).
