Stunningly OT: US - Russia Hockey Game - Best Ever

US got outworked. Canada just never let them settle in on the offensive zone.

I thought it was a great game. Incredibly fast, passionate, tight and tense. Sure, the Canadians dominated but the US still had several chances and it was a one-goal game so anything could have turned it at any time. But I'm a bit of a hockey purist (as well as being a Canadian) so perhaps I enjoyed it more because of that.

Quick was great and kept you in the game. Bergeron indeed played well, but I think everyone is underrating just how good a game Crosby had. He was all over the place and his line generated scoring opportunities on almost every shift despite being matched against the US checking line. Man, I hope they keep the NHL players in the olympics, can't have enough games like this from my point of view. Hell, bring back the Canada Cup during the off-years.

I think there's talk of doing a World Cup of hockey soon.

Here's hoping they keep the Olympic rules for that and not the NHL.

**** me!

I'll change it by tomm am.

Good game! You're an honorable man. Don't worry about keeping that avatar. One day is enough and besides, this is Patriots country.

Watching the Olympic hockey makes me wish they'd put the NHL on bigger ice. The players are so big and fast that the traditional North American ice is too small and takes away a lot of angles and work that can be done in the corners and from behind the net.

I agree that Sid played well. He's one of those guys that unless he's scoring at more than a PPG people act like he's underachieving. It's like if Brady has a few games where he has mediocre numbers but the team wins and everyone starts asking "what's wrong with Tom." Expectations are just higher for them.

Felt like a blowout. One of the most dominant defense performances I've ever seen. Not against Price but, he had little to do with the win. Canada didn't allow any good shots. Anytime we had a pass in front of the goal we had nobody there to shoot it in. Combination of a lot of bad mistakes and a really good performance by Canada defensively. Sucks they wasted a great game by Quick. Now GO SWEDEN!

Thank you brother!

I love the Canadian/American rivalry in hockey, But there is no hate. I'm rooting for you guys too win Gold. Hard not to root for Bergeron.

Rask is back in the net for Finland today. This Bronze medal game could be another defensive grind.

We're the broncos of the olympics :bricks:

What a tank job. Sheesh. :bricks:

Good for Tuukka.

Glad there are no Bruins on the US team. What a bunch of heartless losers they were the last 2 games.

Kind of makes me wonder if what we saw is the downside of NHL players in the Olympics. "Well, we're out of it. Might as well just pack it in and avoid injury." They didn't seem to have much national pride motivating them.

Shame Kane couldn't be a heartless loser like 6 months ago...

Yeah I said the same thing which is mildly ironic when you consider on Behind the B the Bruins brass said of Seguin "if he gives us half of what Kane gave them we win the cup."

Seguin's giving the Stars a point a game. Thank goodness the Bruins got rid of yet another player like that. Julien doesn't know what to do with them.

Seguin's stats from the playoffs last year:

Games: 22
Goals: 1
Assists: 7
+/-: -2

You're right. Julien and the Bruins didn't know what to do with a guy who had world class talent but preferred to stay out carousing all night during the playoffs.

Short sighted reaction by the Bruins brass. The year before, Seguin was our best player in the playoffs.

Great point. Moving on from a 21 year old guy because he had a bad playoff run, after you jerked him from one line group to the next to the next, is brilliant. :thumb:

It's not as if Seguin's numbers were better than, say, Kessel's, to that point in their careers, or anything, after all.

Oh, wait....

12 Bruins have a higher +/- than Seguin (+10)
Reilly Smith is +15
Erikson equals Seguins +/- at +10
17 Bruins have a higher +/- than Phil Kessel (+1)..........You miss him too?
