Rumor - McDaniels to be the Browns HC

I recall the story that when BB told DB that he was sticking with TB, Bledsoe went off on BB and BB fired back and essentially said that, "there is no job entitlements here" and DB storming out of the office. He then went to Kraft to help him lobby for his job back and Kraft says, "We're doing things here differently here now" and pleaded him to be a solid teammate moving forward. We all know he still sulked, *****ed about BB to his old buddies and was angry. However I do recall Brady saying that Bledsoe was professional towards him and BB saying that while he understood Bledsoe was upset he respected that fact that Drew didn't go overboard and cause a ***** storm similar to what Kosar did in CLE and continued to help the team win.

I guess I'm comparing the situation to Terry Glenn on Sports Final. Drew was not THAT bad.

Thats what I remember....

There is a large gap between Terry D-I-D Glenn and classy.
Bledsoe OVERALL conducted himself in a classy manner, but the way he handle this situation was not his best moment. I get why, but to say he was classy in handling it is wrong. Its OK to like Drew and admit he handled that situation poorly.

What are you talking about?

Lombardi really likes Hoyer.

Chud got fired because he wasn't on the same page.

Lombardi wants someone on the same page.

Based on common experience, Lombardi and McDaniels most likely share many common views.

Since you were actually there when McDaniels cut Hoyer why not share what actually happened? That way everyone knows Lombardi and McDaniels hold fundamentally different views.

Hoyer and McDaniels spent 8 moths together in NE.

You would think that a poster in this thread who has an imaginary friend in the Pats front office would know this.

Do you have a link to that story? Just curious to read about it as I had always heard and believed that Bledsoe was the good soldier. I was actually following that story with the Brady-Bledsoe dynamic, and am surprised I never heard that previously.

Bobby V didnt draft the people carrying the redsox.

McD did have some very good draft picks. Correct me if I am wrong DT, Moreno, Decker, and Clady? But that is about all he did good. How would u like cheering for Kyle Orton? Trust me it sucked. I like McD I think he was just given to much power to early.

Clady wasn't a McDaniels pick but starting LG Zane Beadles and starting C JD Walton (currently injured) were, so 2/5s of Manning's OL, 2 of his WRs and the starting RB were all McDaniels draft picks.

He made a couple of bad picks for Denver but he also made some very good ones.

You can probably find dozens. It was pretty well known at the time.

Your posts continue to make less and less sense as time goes on.
Not even sure what you are talking about here other than calling being in the same organization for an offseason OC training. Maybe he should bring in Kevin Oconnell and Matt Gutierrez.

I dont want to turn this into a Brady/Belichick/Bledsoe thing but while there are many differences and sets of circumstances between the two, the major two similar ones were....

-At the time of their displacement as starter, Kosar and Bledsoe were both playing like crap.

-Similar to Brady, Vinny T won his first two starts and played reasonably well his last 4.

If Kosar didn't try to undermine BB, he might not have been cut. Drew could have submarined the season but he stayed classy. Part of me wonders if Drew knew what BB did to Bernie in CLE and because of that outcome, he wanted his legacy to be that of a team guy and not a martyr

I remember Kosar and BB fighting a lot before he got cut, it was a pretty public squabble unlike the current Patriots, who keep almost everything internal. Kosar would often ignore play calls, and one time threw a TD on his own play call, then let the press know about it afterwards. That also turned out to be his last game in Cleveland as he was cut right after that. The team would be forced to start Todd Philcox (I think that's his name) but it didn't matter to BB.

When the cut was announced, BB talked about Kosar's "diminishing skills," a pretty shocking (albeit true) thing for him to say out loud with reporters around. No way BB says anything like that in public about Bledsoe. Heck, BB will even talk up Thad Lewis now.

Maybe Drew learned from the Kosar episode, but I think BB learned quite a bit from it as well.

I agree. Classy was probably not the best choice of words. I do believe after he threw his fit he was professional, didn't try to sabotage the season and genuinely attempted to help the team win.

. @RapSheet: #Browns top 2 candidates: #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and #Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops. … We’ll talk about this later on @nflnetwork

.................

I agree. BB most certainly learned from that experience. In the time BB has been here he has NEVER talked in a negative way a player's skills that have eroded (see Troy Brown, Faulk or Tedy B, ) BB would say something like, "there is always room for Tedy Bruschi on this team" and have the private conversation with the player and look for a graceful way to move on (trade Vrabes to KC, retirement, etc).

So many conflicting reports...just another day in the age of social media.

I think we can start to wonder if Josh's chances would improve for staying here IF they end up interviewing someone like Bob Stoops, but until that happens I am going to consider McDaniels as a good candidate to be their next HC.

I think Stoops is an excellent candidate, and as great of an OC as Josh is, I would think that Stoops and his overall coaching skills could run circles around McDaniels.

On top of that, he's a local boy from Youngstown, which is about 75 miles from CLE itself. This would be an excellent signing for the Browns.

The problem seems to be that Stoops just doesn't want to do it! If CLE is serious about luring someone there, they need to open up their checkbooks and quickly. This may also have been one of the reasons why C.Kelly pulled out at the last minute--unless it's something else behind the scenes. I just think that money talks in a lot of instances. If the Browns want Stoops, then make him an offer he "can't refuse." (since I brought up Youngstown)

A league source confirmed reports that the #Browns won't interview Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops for their head-coaching vacancy.

So if the report that Stoops/McDaniels were the Browns top two choices, Josh is good as gone.

The Browns did the whole hot college HC thing with Butch Davis.

Different owner and different times, but I would expect the same results from Stoops.
