Every Contender Has Flaws

I get that point, and I am stating that this is an OBVIOUS reality of the NFL and has been for a very long time. It is not suddenly a reality this year.

Wow welcome to the board. 30 posts and you come off as a sarcastic ass. Thanks for joining, the board is that much better now.

Maybe if you didn't just join you would understand the underlying point of this thread, but because you are new here it is lost on you. Instead you attack something you don't understand. Good Job.

Been closely watching the NFL since '75. Not that it matters, though.

I agree with your point about the lamenting of weaknesses and how every fan base is doing the same. I have not been on this site for very long, but my observation is that there are many that are so incredibly spoiled that they have wildly unrealistic expectations. The team is supposed to win by blow out every game and any game not going perfectly is disturbing. That is frankly silly and delusional.

I like to discuss football, and I was mostly teasing you. Not a big deal, I just find it astounding how many people are so unaware of reality. Of course all teams have flaws.

Now as for the Pats having a chance? Well any team that makes the playoffs has a chance. I don't think it would be a good chance, but you know what? Based on the past number of years, that may be just what they need.

Ok, this is more reasonable discussion.

Yes, I agree - we've come to expect over the past decade-plus that the Pats are just going to roll over everyone. And it's very easy to see that this team has holes. But every team - even the ones that we think are dominant teams in the league right now - have serious holes that have shown up and can be exploited. Some have more talent than New England but are just inconsistent. Others have definable, tangible flaws, like a bad rush defense or whatever. No team this year has consistently crushed its opposition. And that means, to me, that the Patriots do, in fact, have a legit shot if they make the playoffs. The Giants' teams in '07 and '11 were seriously flawed, but they also put it all together in the playoffs. The goal for the Pats here should be to win each game, but mainly to keep improving so that when they get to the playoffs they are as good as they can be. And I'd happily take my chances from there.

Celebrating regular season juggernaut since 2007!

As if that is something to be excited about. As for me, a juggernaut is a team that steam rolls the post season. Last one I remember was the '89 Niners.

'93 Cowboys
2000 Ravens

Your original post had a point, but the "juggernaut" thing was just wrong, even if you ignore the obvious 18-1 elephant in the room.

Heck that post could have been the OP and saved you a lot of time.

Yeah, my thought has been for a few years now that it is far more beneficial to be severely tested in the regular season than to win a lot of regular season games easily. That is what we are observing in the post season in regard to the teams that actually win the super bowls. So, all this crying and whining is not recognizing that this likely is what the team has needed to experience for quite a while now. Each playoff loss that is a "shocker" to the fans, is likely just as much of a "shocker" to some players. They are human and are susceptible to over confidence and "expecting" wins before they happen. Did any of the title teams really go through the post season "expecting" to win? How many playoff teams in recent years did?

Now as for the paper tiger bit, there has to be very serious concern with Brady having a QB rating that is near the bottom of the league, no matter the 6-2 record. It seems wins are being pulled out of someone's *ss. You know? I don't think there is a single person that quite knows how in the heck this team is 6-2. Not even BB or TB. It just is what it is. lol

My apologies for offending your sensibilities. Not quite sure you need to call me names, but I was not trying to be an *ss. Just calling it as I see it. What is wrong with that?

If I didn't just join, I would understand the point is to add some levity to the discussion regarding the team since there are so many cliff jumpers around here? Or am I wrong about that?

I wasn't attacking. Sorry if it came across that way, but you yourself said, "thank you captain obvious". Isn't that what I am saying? Why am I an *ss for saying what you said?

I don't feel either of those teams steamrolled the post season. The 2000 Ravens were a defensive juggernaut, but an anemic offense.

The 1992 Cowboys were closer to a juggernaut than the 93 Cowboys, but they still had a very tough game against the Niners in the NFCCG.

All three of these other teams were 12-4 and hardly as impressive in the regular season as the '89 Niners.

So, it is just my opinion that the last real juggernaut was that team. The 80's had several.

As I said in my previous post you missed the point of the thread because you are new. In addition typically when a new poster comes off in aggressive attacking manner they are typically a troll just trying to stir **** up.

You are very astute in your observation. Every time we lose we suck and the team is going no where. If we don't field all pro's at every position then we have no chance because [insert team name(s)] is infallible and fields an all time madden team.

It was, but you were missing the sarcastic underlying of the thread. I apologize for calling you an ass. That wasn't very welcoming of me.

Welcome aboard.

Well these were not my only posts. I did not think I was being aggressive nor attacking. I know I have not been in the rest of my posts and didn't think I was in this one.

Thanks, guess I wasn't as clueless as you thought.

Hey, no problem. I have been called worse, as we all have I am sure. This isn't my first venture commenting on the internet.

Thanks for the welcome.... I'll see you around I am sure.
