Tebow NFL QB stats vs. Zolak = NO comparison

yes, his 8 years of being an inconsequential backup proved he couldn't play in this league. I'm guessing my interpretation of the word play is close to Zolak's usage.

"Riddle me this, Batman. When is an NFL player not an NFL player? When he's an 8-year bench guy, of course!"

Oooookay, then. I'm going to go do something that's not this.

Yeah, Tebow looked so good throwing an off kilter pass that Sims made a great catch on, then got whiffed on a tackle by two or three future cuts on his way to the end zone. Even better on the throw to the end zone when no one was expecting it, again against 3rd stringers. Look past the numbers. Tebow hasn't outplayed Mallett at any time this preseason.

:noidea:

He outplayed him last night.

"Gee willikers batman, colloquial speech may not exactly correspond to exact literal meaning?"

I would tell you to go chill but I'm afraid you would jump in a freezer.

You're trying to argue that an eight-year player in the NFL wasn't good enough to "play" in the NFL. Zolak played. He has stats and everything. I'm not the one with the speech issue.

If you want to say he wasn't good enough to start, or significantly contribute, that's one thing. That's not what Zolak said about Tebow. And, bear in mind, I still don't know if Tebow's long for this league.

Just out of curiosity, do you think Tebow's good enough to play in the NFL?

zolak is an idiot...just follow him on twitter and you will know what i mean

And what do you think Zolak meant by saying Tebow can't play in the NFL? Was he saying that he's not good enough to start, but he's good enough to ride the pine for eight years? Because that seems to be the definition now.

That may be so, at least statistically...but it didn't really matter.

We don't know if it mattered. We may never know.

To me there's a clear difference between someone who plays in the league and who's merely a practice/bench/backup player. Playing in the league correspond to being a consistent on the field presence.

I think tebow's good enough to do what he's doing now, which is to make a camp and with some luck the 53 men roster. maybe participate in a handful of plays throughout the season. But it was pretty apparent to me what Zolak meant was being a consistent on the field player game in and game out, playing in this league. Which I don't think he will accomplish.

All sarcasm aside, I see what you're saying, but I doubt that the highly-specific definition you're proposing isn't wnat Zo had in mind.

so you and OP are throwing a hissy fit because Zo is not prefacing his statement about how he, in your opinion, doesn't measure up to Tebow as a qb?

If everyone had to broadcast such disclaimers before voicing their opinion then it would be awfully cumbersome.

Who's throwing a hissy fit ?

Last I checked, the only people who take slots on NFL rosters are NFL PLAYERS. They might be 1st team players. They might be 2nd team players. Hell, they might even be 3rd string developmental players who only last 1 year or so.

When someone, even someone such as Zolak, makes that claim that Tebow isn't good enough to be an NFL QB or player, it means that he isn't good enough to be on a roster as an NFL PLAYER.

It's the same message that many other's parrot when they say that Tebow will shortly be OUT OF THE NFL. That he'll be on his way to the CFL, or the Arena Football league.

There are a couple of facts that you simply can't refute, so instead, you are trying to spin the meaning.

FACT: Zolak was on the roster as an NFL QB for 8 seasons.
FACT: Zolak collected checks for 8 years as an NFL PLAYER.
FACT: Tebow's stats are BETTER than Zolak's.

I am sorry does it matter neither made it
