The Official Patriots vs Gaints Pre-Season Game Thread

man the young offensive weapons look really capable. Should be an interesting year.

boxscore wont show it but those two calls were seriously borderline

The interference call on Webster was pretty obvious. The refs will call that pretty much every time.

people still forget how bad Cassell looked in the preseason before 2008. I still think Mallett can be a good QB but you need to have regular reps all the time imo. These guys go from playing every week in game conditions in college to playing soft toss in practice or whatever then he gets like 6 quarters total in preseason and then thats it for the year.

It really doesn't surprise me that his "touch" is poor when he gets so little time to get into rythm with a legit offense around him. Pretty much every time a defense makes him go to his second read he's making a throw that he almost never has to in practice. It's like when a former HOF pitcher throws out the first pitch and puts it in the dirt because he's just not warmed up or in sync with being on the mound etc.

Give him 4 weeks of practicing everyday in brady's shoes with all that entails and 3 full games and he'll be much smoother imo.

Is it just me or does Mallett appear to throw the ball to where the receiver is opposed to where he wants the receiver to be?

Mallett has soooo much work to do.

His timing just seems to be off a lot in my opinion, and that's not good for a guy who is working in a timing based system so much. That said, he'd have the same problems anywhere on the throw that Aus is speaking of.

I still like the thought of him as our backup due to knowledge of the scheme etc, but no--he's not the future replacement for TFB, nor is he going to bring in a 2nd or 3rd rd draft pick.

Man our special teams coverage worries me...

The interference call was just plain bad, the INT call could have gone either way.

Int was no brainer. The hand was clearly down before the 2nd leg. Not even close. Overturned 1000 times out of 1000.

Was that Kannoris Davis whiffing on the ST tackle? If so, he might want to start packing his bags.

Adrian wilson whiffed terribly on that kickoff

Bequette did an awesome job setting the edge there.

A. Wilson first.

I agree with your premise BUT I EXPECT way more out of Mallett than I did Cassel...I still think Mallett's head races the first few series...and he calms down with subsequent series. I don't know...I just want more from the skillset he has than he's producing

So, what's the call guys? Adrian Wilson on or off the team?

Here's a big difference: Cassel was playing with an offense that was virtually unchanged from the previous year's which had been the greatest offense of all-time. Mallett would be playing with an offense with a ton of turnover where most of the receiving targets are rookies.

Absolutely no point in keeping Bequette over Buchanan.

I thought it was a little ticky-tack. but I don't count! :mmph:

contact from behind on a receiver before the ball gets there is NOT ticky tack...it's PI
