The bar's that low, huh?

It's not.

I have seen every Tebow sig and meme possible , trust me that's at at the top of the heap . it's funny on many levels

Just a quick FYI, I don't hold you being a Gator fan against you, just as I don't hold it against Tebow for playing there. I do wish he would have picked Georgia, but oh well.

Go Dawgs!!

But what I really wanna know is, why don't we get us some more gator receivers?

Regarding Tebow fans who will be gone if Tebow's gone:

Screw the love-fest. Then it'll be good riddance -- including if the improbable happens, all the hunches are right, all the stars align, and he turns into an NFL QB, and you stick around 10 years.

I've never understood being a "one-man fan" for a favorite player, or saying "ho hummm, I like the Pats because I like this player, but I hope the Bears beat them this week because I like two Bears players. Soul rending but I had to make a call..."

I am openly questioning your Fanhood.

Come to the Pats because you like Tebow, fine, but WTF? Do you even follow the NFL? I mean what, did Tebow personally massage your naughty bits down in Florida or something?

I didn't become a Raiders fan when Plunkett left, and I didn't think "we" won anything when he had some success there. I liked David Givens okay but I never became a Titans fan, and I like Randy Moss just fine, but I've never been a [your team here] fan. I'm not a Broncos fan because Welker's there. I'm not a KC fan because Cassel's there (he's still there, right?)

If Brady left for (say) Chicago, I wouldn't be a Bears fan, and if I were a Peyton-era Colts fan I would not now be a Broncos fan. Because, damn.

So yeah fine let's all coexist and everything, but to me you're a bunch of former Jets fans team-shopping. Worse, you're just not fans. You're idolators.

This team and this franchise has a proud tradition that adds up to more than a logo and some laundry. It starts with an owner that every goddam person in this fan-base will tell you is, in our eyes, the class of the league. It moves on to a head coach who, to a man, we'll tell you is one of the all-time greats. And yes, it encompasses memories and "birthright," or at least football-consciousness-birthright.

You're coming to people who went through fan hell for years, then soared to fan heaven, and everything in between -- all for a team. Even were we not blessed with the special aspects above named, we are now and have been for some time the quintessential team team, the one that made the silly pre-game individual introductions look like the crap they were in one fell swoop, as surely as grunge did to the hair bands.

And beyond whatever's "special" about our team, it's our team. Even if we were (unimaginably) the Jets' fans, or the Jags' fans, or whatevah, you're mixing in your infatuation with one particular person with an abiding passion for a team that for many of us has lasted decades.

God help me, but if you met with something like this response among Jets' fans, I have to (to some extent) agree with them.

So sorry for the core dump. Here's what I hope for you. I hope you get into the Patriots because Tebow led you there. Perhaps that was his mission, PTL, amen. I hope you stick around and hang on every play, every season, every 45-yard field goal. I hope you stick around until you "get it," and I hope that you'll make me feel justified in retrospect, when I say,

Welcome.

(Now live up to it goddammit!)

Amen. The best thing about Manning leaving for Denver was all the Manning fans leaving with him.

How and when did you become a Patriots fan? Was it through one of the "approved" processes for entering fan'dom?

When you first became a fan, were you ever in the unfortunate situation, where you really liked and respected a particular player? And if you did (of course you didn't), were you foolish enough to buy a poster/card/memorabilia of this particular player? (Of course you didn't. That would be ridiculous)

I certainly hope that when you started being a fan, you didn't have the nerve or bad taste to be a "casual" fan. It's very important that when you become a fan of a team, that you do so immediately, irrationally, and obsessively.

Did you have the full roster of the Patriots memorized in your first, or second season of being a fan?

When you became a Patriots fan, did you immediately become an expert on other fans' qualifications and credentials, or did that come once you graduated into a higher classification of "fan"?

Finally, at what point in your fan'dom did you become a superior form of fan than other fans of other teams?

I've been pretty nice to MrsPatsfan over in the political forum (and deservedly so). And this is what i get? I see how it is.

I think that it is fair to say that most of the PatsFans.com members who are true Patriots fans have been Patriots fans since we started school.

Unlike - some of you ass clowns who are supposedly adults and are here to either harass others or are following ONE player to a team.

How some of you could even call yourself "men" is beyond me because men have a core placement of beliefs that begins with our belief in a team and not a player.

And he is right - some of you Tebow followers are nothing more than glorified idol followers.

And if you don't like what I just said - then you can stick it up your ass.

Dude, you've got some anger issues. From your past posts/blogs, it seems like a lot of pent up bitterness about the 2011 Broncos season. Let it go.

Fair enough. I am not really a big NFL fan, more college for me. I said earlier that I am a Gator fan first and foremost. Ignoring the weird comment about Tebow fondling peoples naughty bits, you have a point. I can see how you would see us as just traveling "fans" and what not. I don't deny it, if Tebow left tomorrow I probably would too. But I have always had respect for the Pats, Brady and BB. After that, you have every reason to not like me. I am not a Pats fan as of yet, but I will give the team my full attention during the season (just not on Saturdays, that's for the Gators)

We did endure something like this from Jets fans, but they had trouble being.. as eloquent.

I can not speak for all Tebow fans, I do not know any of the other posters on this board (other than knowing some of them from last year at GG) but I don't really watch NFL all that often. I don't have a team, I watch "big" games, and the playoffs. I idly watched Tim at Denver in '10, started paying more attention to his games in '11 and then "it" happened. Suddenly, I'm oddly glued to my TV or computer every Sunday to see if Tebow can do it again. Most of the games where hard to watch, painful at times. But somehow he pulled it off, 3, 4, 5, wtf 6... miracle win after another. He was raw, but he played with the same emotion and huge passion for the game that he did in college. I was hooked. I didn't get on the Denver boards, and I couldn't even tell you why I cared enough to get on the Jets boards (which was a huge mistake btw) But I wanted to know more about the team, and what people thought of Tebow. I am here now for the same reason, I will not clog up any discussions that I am not familiar with and will treat people as they treat me.

I hope to have great discussions with you all as the season goes on, maybe even become a fan of the team. There certainly is a lot to like about it, and for the most part this forum has been fairly cool with us. There are zealots that try and do preaching about Tebow, I hate them as much as you. Trust me.

If you made it through all of that rambling and bad punctuation, congrats.

I think that it is fair to say that most of the PatsFans.com members who are true Patriots fans have been Patriots fans since we started school.

So... the cutoff age for allowance into fan'dom of any team is "since we started school"? Is this grade school? High School? Graduate school?

If I'm too late to achieve "true fan" status, can I apply for some sort of exemption, allowing me into this special fraternity?

How some of you could even call yourself "men" is beyond me because men have a core placement of beliefs that begins with our belief in a team and not a player.

Real men don't follow an athlete who wears spandex and crashes into other men. Real men only follow 53 grown men in spandex who smash into eachother. There's an important difference, there.

And he is right - some of you Tebow followers are nothing more than glorified idol followers.

Yep. Just like nearly every fan in the history of sports who has praised athletes' performances. But you follow a "team" of idols, so it's better, right?

And if you don't like what I just said - then you can stick it up your ass.

I would rather not cram anything in my ass, especially not anything from you. Why would you even offer this?! :twitch: Thanks anyway, though. See ya next time, tough guy.

Why the insults. I am a man because I do what is right in life to raise my son the right way, and has nothing to do with my affiliation with or belief in a team. You are just a whiny prick that doesn't like to share.

awwwwwwww......are the Tebow followers going to start crying now?

awwwwwwww......are the Tebow followers going to start crying now?

I might.

If you keep undressing me with your eyes, and if you continue offering to put things in my ass, I may shed a tear or two, yes.

I'm sensitive, like that.

Not like you though.

You're super tough, right...?

No - the crying is from the select few Tebow followers that are on this website.

If you don't like what I have to say about you guys, then stick it because frankly the only ones around here patting each other on the back are you guys.

Hopefully, you will remember that come cutdown day.

A lot tougher than you are. That is one thing I am certain of.

You call us ass clowns and challenge our manhood.. you're the one that started throwing out silly insults, not us. Suck it up, you've been a Pats fan for longer than us and more than likely will be one after we are gone. Stop being a whiny ***** and just try being civil. It's an internet forum, if we weren't allowed to be here I'm sure Ian and the mods would have removed us long ago.
