In defense of Tebow he does have a legitimate learning disability. As much as his fan base refuses to accept it having dyslexia likely does prevent him from being able to view plays property, process the information quickly and make a proper determination of how to proceed accordingly.

In college his athleticism compensated for his mental handicap unfortunately the NFL is a much faster game and his talent level is not superior to the defenders.

If you look at the body of work of Tom Brady his greatness I mostly attributed to the mental aspects of his game, his quick and decisive decision making, his ability to anticipate the outcome of a play, and his ability to maintain his fundamentals and techniques reputationsly. Brady has never been confused as a freak athlete.

Thanks for bringing this up again. I meant to post a reply on the subject yesterday but got sidetracked.

I read the info you linked to at Wiki. I'm not sure that his dyslexia impacts all the things that you mentioned. Basically, I'm not sure that dyslexia affects reading the defense, processing that information and making the proper determination of how to proceed.

Where it definitely does have an impact is learning the playbook.

That said, I'm not a psychologist and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I could easily be wrong.

I've never played at a professional level, But from what I have experienced, Knowing a playbook hasn't been a major factor in my ability to overthrow players by 20 yards, underthrow players by 5 yards, and freeze up like a deer in the headlights.

Also look at the rookies around the league playing in their first nfl game. They all did better then tebow, under just as much presure, with just as much time in a new offense. thats not an excuse thats feasible. this isnt a discussion about Tebow being as good as mallet and brady, its about how tebow is not good as a QB, period, by any standard.

The rookies around the league, guys like Geno Smith, have had their playbooks since March or April (iirc) and also took part in Team OTAs and mini-camps, which is effectively double the amount of practices.

Many people have talked about how Mallett looks like he has a better grasp of the offense this year. I read that as meaning that he understands the plays more. He knows the receiver's routes, and where they will be at different times during the play. He knows where his windows should be and he knows what the progressions are.

If you don't know all those things for a play, you end up looking kind of lost and you miss the windows and the open receivers. Maybe it's coincidental, but that's how Tebow looked the other night.

That said, there very well could be other explanations, such as difficulty reading defenses, yada, yada, yada.

I don't know what the answer is right now, which is why I prefer to give him some more time in the offense and see what happens.

My cousin who is 15 months younger then I am has dyslexia; are mothers are sisters so we grew up side by side, it takes my cousin significantly longer to determine things than it does me, he also interrupts things differently. It is not a major difference in everyday activities but it is noticeable just the same, so when you think about it conjunction with a quarterback making decisions in seconds sometimes milliseconds I can all but guarantee it is problematic for Tebow.

I'm not sure it's something he can overcome but if it was possible it would probably be best for Tebow to come to terms that he has not BEAT it as he likes to believe (it is not a beatable disorder it is a treatable disorder) and seeked off the field help to aide him in this disability.

patriots - Maybe the Patriots and Tim Tebow could be a fit after all - WEEI | Mike Salk

interesting article with a small excerpt from it below.

"As I said, we know all the things Tebow can't do. But if you only focus on a player's weaknesses, you'll never find a way to utilize his positives. And Tebow has plenty of them. He is a ferocious runner, very difficult to bring down in the open field. He's got a knack for making big plays late in close games. And he finds himself in plenty of close contests because he can keep his team falling out of them early."

its disgusting, Its blind following in the face of facts. Its like trying to teach evolution in the south.

Timothy 1:1 -

Paul, an apostle of ************ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord ************, which is our hope;

Perhaps, we are looking in the wrong direction as to who would be the heir apparent to Brady. We need to find a quarterback whose name is Paul.

Penn State Football: Quarterback Paul Jones Hopes To Finally Make The Grade With Nittany Lions

Let us declare the season of exegetical depth chart reading officially open, and dutifully, my Tebros, yea, we attest unto Belichick's (our Belichick's, not the Belichick's) reference to Paul (Jones.)

What sign is it unto the Gillette faithful, then, that doubting Thomas Brady was so favored for so many years?

But following upon the habit of doubting Thomas Brady, I may protest that Aaron Murray of Georgia may be he who will speak to the people, yea, and shalt speaketh to them with his arm;

Or that should Belichick climb the mountain, and overlook the Jordan (Lynch, of Northern Illinois,) in so doing he may die before we again reach the promised land;

Or that David, the root of Jesse (Fales, San Jose State,) shall make of Patriots Nation a great nation;

Or that John (Manziel, Texas A&M) shall not be the One, but shall be like one crying in the wilderness "Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his ways straight," Which would just meaneth that we'd have to draft again in 10 years, sorta like what happened with Drew.

No offense, & I totally honor your way of speaking about your cousin with maturity and respect... but that said, dude, that wins the ironic typo of the year award. Please take it in the spirit it's intended (good natured rather than mean spirited.)

That is a completely ignorant statement.

Fair enough. It might be the case.

Well played :thumbup:

No offense taken; my cousin has dyslexia, I'm just a moron :banghead:

Cheers to a good call :beer:

For what its worth I commend Tebow for setting an example for children with dyslexia and showing them not let it stand in the way of their dreams.

In a world so obsessed with autism children with dyslexia don't always receive the accommodations they truly need.

That is a completely ignorant statement.

Speaking as someone who lives in Florida, is a science teacher, loves the Patriots, also follows the Gators, and who has followed Tebow since Nease High School,

I found it to be valid

I gotta stick up for Tebow now that Belichick believes in him.
Tebow was clearly under more pressure than any other rookie and had less time to learn any new offense.

Rookie Season- The year he was drafted, there was the "lockout", he had no time to learn the playbook or practice with the team and only had two games in the preseason to pick up the pace.

2nd Season- the coach who believed in him was fired. He had to deal with the horse-faced John Elway, who made it no secret he didn't really want Tebow as his starter and made his rounds on the radio or to any camera he could find to make a point of it, that had to have put pressure on Tebow. Plus all the media exposure, all the hate from TV "analyst", interest and desperate slots putting bounties on his virginity, the guy was bigger than the NFL, which adds more pressure. Then John Fox changed the whole offense, after Orton got benched, to go with Tebow's style of play, so Tebow still never really had the opportunity to grasp or understand a REAL NFL offense.

3rd Season- The Jets. He was basically there to attract cameras to the Jet's soap opera and play FB and Special Teams. With whoever the QB coach was, Sparano and Sanchez as tutors, there was no way Tebow was gonna learn to play QB properly. Sanchez can't even play QB properly.

4th Season- Now he's in good hands. Wait. Be patient. Give him a chance. Good things will happen. Not saying that he's getting the starting job (not with Brady here), but Brady and McDaniels will make him good enough to be traded to another team in need of a QB of his skill. No need to make jokes or question his talent because he's famous for nothing and he loves Jesus. I've been asking why haven't we drafted another option at QB because Mallett has the talent, but seems to be pretty lackluster on the field. Honestly Mallett played no better than Tebow, just took less sacks because he didn't play as long. So shouldn't we start a thread about him too? Let's just chill and wait a few more games or years for Tebow to truly develop.

Thanks for the correction as to the draft. It was April as you said.

As for the 2nd part, really ? I believe that's incorrect. Drafted Rookies, at least, can pick up playbooks before signing their contracts.

Which potential roster spot holder are you cutting in order to keep tebow?

:banghead: was just thinking the only thing missing in this thread was some good old racism. ... then I remembered it was 2013 :thumbdown:
