Blockin’ like Tebow: Tim Tebow flips 49ers defensive end Aldon Smith on block (video) | Off the Bench
Congrats.
One play in his entire career where he dived at a players legs and got lucky.
Do you really want this guy protecting Bradys legs?
lol
One play does not erase an entire season where he was getting run over every single time he tried to block.
He can not run
He can not catch
He can not block
He is NOT a TE in any way shape or form.
We're not the Jets. We aren't going to put him on the field just for the sake of putting him on the field to sell tickets and jerseys.
I have a feeling you did not read what I posted and just clicked on link. Read what I posted next time . HE IS NOT A TE and probably never will be ,so we both agree.
As far as running and blocking, I guess its your opinion he can nto because its not based on anythign factual.
He can run , he has a 5.2 career YPC
He had many other blocks (he can block and I am not even sure why your making up the "he got run over part" ) .
Running from under center on HB dives and misdirections is not the same as running routes and getting separation from NFL safeties and linebackers.
He can not block. I would take Danny Woodhead (who is notoriously poor as a blocker) over Tebow. He has zero technique and fundamentals which stems from the fact he has never been asked to block in his entire life, let alone at the NFL level effectively.
He is not a TE.
He can not play TE.
He will never play TE.
There is no reason to even begin to discuss him playing TE.
While we're at it, we might as well switch Chandler to TE.
Or maybe we should consider putting Wilfork at RG.
Or maybe it'd be better to put McCourty at WR.
It's just a completely idiotic premise based on nothing but some idle hope that we can get Tebow on the field because "all he does is win".
He did, they chose to show that one because it was Smith. Blocking is not the issue, route running and actually catching the ball probably are .....which are even bigger problems.
I am in agreement he is not a TE
I'm going to send the Hernandez hit squad after the next person who suggests this.
Tebow has never blocked or caught passes - he'd be a major project to convert to TE and if they planned on converting him to TE they likely would not have cut their QB3 to bring him onto the team.
I see a lot of people discounting the prospect of Belichick using Tebow at TE - or other positions for that matter.
Have people forgotten that Belichick is quite fond of training players to play multiple roles regardless of what "position" they play on the scorecard? Did Mike Vrabel ever play TE and score an important touchdown? Did WR Troy Brown ever play DB when the injury bug hit - and do a halfway decent job at that?
Say what you want about his sub-par QB skills - but when the guy is on the field, defenses MUST account for him - not knowing if he's going to run, pass (flea flicker) or catch the ball
Belichick values diversity - and I can't help but assume that's how he views Tebow.
So I AM inclined to believe that Belichick will see value in potentially putting Tebow on the field as a TE - especially now that Hernandez won't be there (I'd take a non-murdering Hernandez and Ballard over Tebow - but after that Tebow's my guy with Ballard given the amount of Defensive attention he'll command.)
There are six guys who have been playing the TE position at a high enough level that they are already on an NFL roster to play TE. It took them years of practice with a proven track record of performance to earn those roster spots.
As athletic and competitive as Tebow is, I just don't see him suddenly becoming a better TE in six weeks of training than any of those other six players.
The most likely candidate to adapt and change his position to become a TE is WR Mark Harrison, but even that would most likely be a project with an eye on 2014, not 2013.
There were also CBs who were playing the position for their whole careers on the roster when Troy Brown and Edelman became starters.
There were TEs on the roster when Vrabel became a goal line specialist.
Or how about when Edelman had some nice games as a slot receiver his rookie season after having never played the position in college?
I have a belief that Tebow would succeed at TE due to his athleticism and drive. It doesn't hurt to give him a shot at it and see what happens. He has the speed and agility. He'd need to learn how to block better. And if he wants to be a receiving TE, he'd need to learn how to catch and run routes. All of these can be worked on in practice.
Well, he's not much of a QB but that's why he is here - to play QB. Hopefully that day never comes.
Right, because they did it means anyone can. Let's put Amendola at NT, Wilfork at WR, maybe Mankins plays some CB. Brown was a slot receiver asked to cover the slot receiver, Vrabel had experience covering TE's and had the size and skill set to play the position. Tebow, besides being small for a TE, hasn't shown any of the skills necessary to play the TE position (or QB for that matter) be it blocking, catching or route running.
Wouldn't you be able to say that about any player o the roster? Or would defenses not account Josh Boyce or Mark Harrison or Brandon Ford when they're on the field and just let them run free?
Tebow's a subpar option as a runner, receiver and thrower, why would you put him in there over more skilled players? Because he can maybe do a lot of things poorly?
It's unbelievably naive to think he would be a better option than Fells, Hooman, Sudfeld or Ford at the position behind Gronk and Ballard. There's no reasonable argument to be made, It's wishful thinking and nothing else.
