Just speculating here but, does anyone else think they might not have anything on him? Read some theories on PFT and some other websites that they are just trying to pressure him into cracking and they probably don't have much evidence on him. Going to be an interesting few days.

Can't blame anyone for not reading 2,000+ posts but yeah, it's been suggested here about 100 times

Yes, absolutely. I think that is a very likely scenario.

If that's true it may be a boring month or so. Not like CSI where everything is resolved in an hour. This may never get solved. Ahern never cleared either. So what happens when training camp begins.

They're reportedly searching ponds in scuba gear and woods with metal detectors. If true (I've not seen any verification of this yet), that's a fairly strong indicator that they're still missing at least one item they consider important to the case, be it the gun, mirror, or something else.

And it does seem like the amount of effort put into it (again, if the reports are accurate), is more akin to "We need to find this crucial piece." rather than, "It would be nice if we had this too."

Exactly none of the information, misinformation and media-fueled speculation contains even a hint of anything related to hard physical evidence about the murder itself. Now it's entirely possible that the authorities have some evidence that they have chosen not to reveal to the general public. But I can't quite figure out how it makes sense that the criminal masterminds who murdered Mr. Lloyd could so effectively remove/conceal/destroy any hard evidence while leaving the rental car at the crime scene.

Complete shot in the dark here but I would imagine if Hernandez is not cleared by the time training camp opens, the league and / or the Patriots would suspend him pending results of the investigation. i don't know.

Two thoughts:

(1) Williams was actually a retired player at the time of the shooting incident.
(2) Yes, murder is a more serious crime than animal cruelty, but for many people, what Vick did is on par with child abuse.

It still remains that for the judicial system and also law enforcement, murdering animals is not on the same level as murdering a human being.

Again, the Edelman situation suggests the Patriots would not suspend Hernandez in such a scenario.

Maybe not. i don't know. But this is a little different in terms of the media attention etc. than the Edelman situation. We're a long way from even having to entertain this question though. I hope a month from now, we are dealing with the issue of whether or not Hernandez should be present at camp. I really do.

tough situation for the Patriots ... we all have the right to not aid a criminal investigation on ourselves ... perfectly legal. So let's say he is 100% totally innocent legally ... will he ever be that in the media and specifically the sports media. Will or would the Patriots bow to public / image pressure and release him just because?

Kind of sucks for both Hernandez and the team if that turns out to be the scenario. If that is the scenario I would hope he remains on the team because he's earned that as a player. I know some of the Providence places these players frequent and the people who own them ... and none of them qualify as altar boys for sure. They are young men doing what some young men do before they settle down - it is what it is. We help pay their salary to play not to watch them pray and drink milk.

Edelman wasn't involved in a murder. He was accused of grabbing a woman's buttock or some such. If God Dell thinks he's not helping the investigation smashing surveillance etc. Then he'd be suspended I'd bet. But what if the case is never solved? Conundrum.

Shot in the dark was a poor choice of words here ...

Actually Edes was actually arrested and accused of a crime that had very negative public perception. Neither has happened to AH so far.

I'm sure that Aaron's attys are working with the DA to keep it that way with no arrest, period, not even for obstruction never mind murder itself. Depends on what the cops find and how sure a DA, a political animal, is of a conviction or plea bargain in a high media profile case.

There is zero similarities between both scenarios. One of those scenarios is something that has never happened before in the history of the Patriots franchise. It thereby requires a corresponding level of response.

OK. . . . so let me if I understand this correctly:

Edelman was arrested midseason, charged with sexual assault, and arraigned. The Patriots did not even suspend him from practice, let alone from a game.

Hernandez, in the scenario cited, has not been charged with anything, but merely hasn't been ruled out as a suspect, and therefore the Patriots should suspend him? Why?

at this point, I don't see the patriots suspending him.......but I see the possibility of Goodell suspending him pending the outcome of the investigation

Edelman was charged with a misdemeanor, I believe.

Hernandez stands to be charged with a felony, one way or another, even if he merely obstructed, never mind be complicit. Obstruction of a murder investigation is a felony..

I understand that nothing has happened as of yet, but I would be shocked if he comes away unscathed.

Only ONE question remains -- do we BURN him or HANG him? Sure he hasn't officially been charged with anything, or even arrested. But everyone knows that he is GUILTY of SOMETHING! And nothing makes folks feel better about themselves like a good hanging! So when and where do I show up with my pitchforks? Wooo!!

I hope Hernandez doesn't bring in Hanover Fist as a character witness.
