Not a fan of either writer, but even a stopped clock is correct twice a day. Please point out to me where either one of them is wrong in their "Patriot Way" columns.

The fact that they need some Patriot player to be involved in a murder investigation for them to come up with their Patriot Way is dead horse**** is enough. I don't think they even understand what the Patriot Way is. You will see how the team deals with this on their way to another double digit win season.

These guys are proven hacks.

To lose their way, they must have had if right at some point... But Borges has had a hate-boner for Belichick since day one. As usual, he's too ******* stupid to realize he's contradicting himself. Or maybe someone else wrote this and e just stole it again

Is a hate-boner the same thing as mad-on?

Could it be that both are true??? Yes, Borgie the Plagiarist and Shank are proven hacks AND the "Patriot Way" is nonsense??
Yes, the Patriots will have double digit wins this season and they will have those wins because they have a great HC and a great QB.
BTW, I hate the circumstances but I LOVE the fact that what's going on will force the Patriots to abandon the Greatest Show on Turf aka We're The Colts mentality and will force them back to their championship roots - tough ball control/clock control offense.

Borges does have one on for Belichick and the Pats.
But he is right with this article.

This what I posted yesterday.

Its to early in the game for the Pats to say or do anything. But for all intense purposes you have seen Aaron Hernandez for the last time wearing a New England Patriots jersey.
Quite frankly that the only thing I give a shiit about. My main concern is how they replace him.

As far as the world of thug-a-rama they can keep on killing each other.

The sooner the Pats can make a clean, painless, face saving break from this guy the better. And hopefully the Patriots will go back to select more character guys. It does make a difference they haven't won since they taken on more of the very questionable characters.

I'm glad this has come out now and not at the end of August or mid season, and ruin what is right now still a salvageable season.

Really thats all I care about.

Get a grip Pats fans.

Why, why, why do you torture yourself listening to Felgie?

Except when he goes off into these "What the **** are you talking about?" rants to try to tie one of his usual themes (trading down for value, the cap is crap) into a completely unrelated subject, I don't mind Felger. But I only listend to 5 minutes yesterday anyway.

I disagree with the last part of the text you highlighted:

Corey Dillon says "Hello". Dillon's rap sheet is long and not very distinguished.

And there were other guys who had questionable characters, but just never stepped over the line from being a shady person to being a felon (at least they didn't get caught). The NFL is not filled with choir boys.

Corey is the clearest example but anyone that thinks any of these guys are choir boys are kidding themselves. That has never been the "Patriot Way". That version is a media strawman that they use to routinely knock down.

Corey Dillon says "Hello". Dillon's rap sheet is long and not very distinguished.

Corey Dillion at the time was the exception to the rule had a relativity short shelf life compared to the Hernandez 's long term mutli million dollar deals that litter the roster now.

The Pats roster has definatley lost its its high standard over the years thinking it could change these pukes into something they will never be.
And its brand has suffered over this. its that simple.

Amazingly the Borges column was not a rip job. Borgie the Plagiarist is actually quite measured and fair in his piece. He did not say anything that isn't true. This notion that the Patriot organization somehow operates on a different/higher plane from other NFL organizations is nonsense when it comes to player character/leadership/drafting judgement.
I agree with that.
Patriots are a terrific organization. So are the Giants, the Ravens, the Broncos, the Steelers.......
It is ok to be ONE OF the terrific organizations in the NFL.
They are not organizationally unique or special.
They have a great HC and a great QB and THAT is why they've been at or near the top for so long.

If AH somehow pulls a Ray Lewis and pleas out without jail time, I highly doubt the Patriots still keep him.

I don't disagree that some other organizations follow the same practices but then nobody ever claimed they were the only ones to work this way. However, if you are trying to make the claim that they don't put an emphasis on character/leadership and work ethic then you are flat out wrong.

Some kind of genius you are Bill. Not being able to predict murders.

So you've been saying for the last three years how Aaron Hernandez was such a bad guy and how we never should have drafted him?

Why is the Patriot Way nonsense? The Patriots always get rid of problem guys or even well established veterans as we've seen over and over. The team comes first and somebody else will just step in as always. Those idiots point to Moss,Fat Albert,Ocho,Dennard,Talib etc. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Fact is none of them lasted if they weren't right for the team(Lloyd). It's BB and TB12 - everybody else buys in or they start packing.

And as far as success goes....it's hard to point out a more successful franchise in recent years other than those few that have won a SB and we all know how razor thin the line between winning and losing a SB is.

Their notion of "oh how the Patriots have fallen" is just BS. They come up with that **** every time when the Pats look like they are in a low point.

The "Patriot Way," as defined by the Patriots signing ONLY players of impeccable character with no baggage whatsoever, is a tired old figment of the media's imagination. The real "Patriot Way" is team-first come hell or high water, player 53 being just as important to the overall WINNING picture as player 1. BB gave birth to it in 2001 and NOTHING has changed.

No clicks for either of these hacks from me.

Both are professional second-guessers who have never had to make a decision in their lives. But whenever something goes wrong, they can be counted on to assert that they knew it all along.

So you've been saying for the last three years how Aaron Hernandez was such a bad guy and how we never should have drafted him?

No I trust in what Bill B. says and does regarding these guys.
Hell I even use to think it was BS when it came to drafting boy scouts. I am "just win baby" type of guy.I trusted the Pats decisions on these guys. I guess they better reevaluate.
But in looking back maybe there is more to taking guys with character than statistics.
I remember win the Pats were more like todays Bruins (and more likeable) than yesterdays raiders

That might be the best summation of these guys i have ever read

Dillon was the exception because he was the only one who was publicized. Many of the players of the Dynasty era had questionable character and pasts. Bryan Cox was a huge character issue. Willie McGinest had gang associations in his youth in Long Beach although seemed to have grown out of it by the time he made the NFL. Ty Law was detained for trafficking drugs over the boarder from Canada.

And most of the questionable characters that Borges is pointing to like Haynesworth, Ocho, etc. had shorter shelf lives than Dillon.

According to Bedard who spoke to many within the organization and outside about Hernandez, Hernandez isn't a bad guy. It is his associates. Hernandez told the Pats he was distancing himself from these people. Up until this offseason, there was no reason to believe that Hernandez was at risk for for something like this.

And the Pats have protected themselves in the new deal with an iron tight morals clause (which they most likely can exercise after today once Hernandez is officially arrested). They can go after him for the signing bonus and cap relief.

How do you know something like that exists in his deal?

Ben Roethlisberger has one less Super Bowl trophy than Tom Brady. Same with Lawrence Taylor. And Joey Porter. Dave Meggett has one which I don't think he can wear while doing his current 30 year jail sentence. Charles Haley (who many consider one of the worst human beings to ever play in the NFL) has 5 Super Bowl rings. The early 90s Cowboys were a bunch of thugs and outlaws and have three Super Bowl rings.

I used to buy into the character thing too when the Pats were selling it. But fact of the matter, a lot of questionable and horrible character guys have Super Bowl rings.

.

A vicious canard! We all know that it was Ty's cousin's stash!
