Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

perhaps this has already been discussed but I am not going to go through 58 pages of post to determine that....sorry.

With new QB's popping up everywhere that are more like Tebow in the sense they can throw AND run the ball effectively, perhaps Tebow is nothing more than a way of having the defense face one of these QB's every day in practice? Guess we will see if they keep a 3rd QB this year.

Hey look some 3rd stringer bringing a media circus.

What is it that possesses the media to follow him around

How long until you can buy T-shirts of a flying Elvis doing the Tebowing fist-forehead thing?

:ugh: <- not Tebowing, if you're confused. Face-palming.

I would patent that if I were you. Might be a short term financial gain waiting to happen....just saying.

Every one want to know what it's like to lose one's virginity to Gronk.

welp...I was out fluke fishing this morning and they were co-operating in a big way...I had the on board radio on 8 listening to EEI when Bill came on to speak...at this point the bite just died...not even a nibble....after he was done, about 15 minutes later, the bite picked up again.

I read the transcript when I got home earlier and now I see why. Bill refused to bite on anything the press tried to pull...so powerful was his refusal,so perfect his deflective shield, that I believe he exerted a gravitational refusal field that permeated the entire New England region, even extending miles offshore.

Pretty impressive as far as I'm concerned.

Tebow polarized people. He was an active Christian QB for a big program in a very religious section of the country. Some people rooted for him because of his faith, some people rooted for him to fall because the Jimmy Swaggarts and the like of our culture have given us a narrative that the more outspoken and 'holy' a person acted the more of a hypocrite they are.

And then there were the football people didn't care about religion. They rooted for him because they believe in terms that don't fall on a stat sheet - momentum and leadership and clutch. They believed that the guy just has 'It' - some magical factor that lets him lead teams to victories - stat sheets be damned.

And then there were the football people who rooted against him because they believe that mechanics and performance measures do matter.

And then there was the rest who didn't care. And then Tebow came out in the draft and it was unknown if he would go in the 1st round or the 3rd.

And all of this followed him to Denver where the fan base that was used to winning had just lost their hot young prospect QB and had a journeyman in Orton as their QB and they were losing. So they wanted a change - and they got one. And some people laughed and scoffed and others said 'just you wait' and we all know how his 2nd season played out and how the subsequent one played out after he went to the biggest media circus team in the league.

At this point Tebow is a self-perpetuating media story for all of the reasons listed above.

The media writes stories about Tebow because people are interested in Tebow because the media writes stories about Tebow.

How stupid are the anti-Tebow people willing to make themselves look?

Salk, on WEEI:

"I'd rather have JaMarcus Russell"

I'd rather have the corpse of Al Davis than Tim Tebow

You're a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Thanks for stepping forward.

Could someone really make a susinct rational argument for why this is a terrible signing? I see no real downside.

Well what's the upside?

At his best he's the worst QB in the league, and at his worst he's a backup that gets more media attention than most players in the league.

Will yeah he's terrible

No different than the corpse of Al Davis would be

Does Dues hate him too? You called HIM the hater. I haven't seen him say anything really negative about Tebow.

Is Tebow that much worse than all the other 3rd string QBs in the league?

No Deus is being a hater on the corpse of Al Davis

And he couldn't beat out Mark Sanchez. (And before you poop yourself bear in mind that I'm convinced that Belichick will pull the biggest troll on the NFL and actually do something useful with Tim.)

And he couldn't beat out Mark Sanchez.

Is someone going to point out a 3rd string QB that would have been a better choice? That might have beaten out Sanchez? Maybe Grossman?
