Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

I've made my thoughts known that I don't like the Tebow acquisition because I don't see a spot for him on the 53 man roster. Now, given that qualification, I can see the Patriots using Tebow in the off season to gain greater exposure to the Read-Option and how best to defend it given the growing trend toward its use in the NFL. If this is Belichick's intention, then it's a very smart move. If not, then we're back to my initial thought.

Don't know if this has been raised, but the potential for a New England Patriots Super Bowl celebration in the Jets home stadium just got a whole lot juicier!

One of BB's offseason motivations: Bringing in players that may/will give him X at a cost below (as much as possible) what other teams pay for X. The rest, the media circus, the "distraction" surrounding a player he brings in? BB doesn't much care about the media, the fan fodder, the hype, the overreaction, whether Tebow worships a christian god or stares at a lava lamp while standing on his head. This hype surrounding this move, the approval, the disapproval is our thing, a fan thing. So with that said, the suggestion that Tebow will be a negative because he is a "distraction" is not applicable.

The future of Tebow is: He will provide X or will be looking for another job. Hopefully X is being the scout team's running QB which we will face more of this year and need to be ready for it.

let me just say one more time...I do not doubt for one millisecond that BB has done this with a number of objectives in mind...and that in football terms it makes perfect sense for the Pats to utilize whatever Tim Tebow has to offer....I do not doubt BB's ability to max Tebow's strengths and minimize his weaknesses to the team's benefit.

What I do doubt...and very highly...is that this makes an iota of difference to what the "Tebow Circus" brings to town....just because the Pats are tight lipped and controlling of press ops does NOT mean the unbelievable tabloid press and that part of the sports media built around sensationalistic tabloid reporting is going to suddenly dissipate and blow away on the wind. Quite to the contrary, I believe it is going to INCITE Tebow nutbaggery to even higher levels than ever seen.

I believe he will be followed and quoted repeatedly outside of the confines of Foxboro and bombarded with all kinds of "Chosen One" questions from what he thinks of BB's adultery to Tom Brady's jet set lifestyle to Gronk's partying. EVERYONE wants to know what Holy Tim has to say and when it's the Darth Vader of the NFL and the Evil Regime of the Kraftian Empire, Blessed Timmuh's input will be THE most sought after sound byte of the year...all year...day in and day out.

This is not a Randy Moss story...this is not a Ryan Leaf story...this is not a redemption at Patriot Way...this is a sports figure who is known WORLD WIDE, with a fanatical world wide following called the Chosen One....millions tune in just to see what scripture he will have quoted under his eyes...not football fans...not Patriot fans...millions and millions of Tim Tebow followers. If the Pats win the Super Bowl, Tebow will be the center of attention...if the Patriots collapse this season, Tebow will be the center of the attention...as BB so famously quoted long ago...it is what it is...

Maybe this means the Pats really are going to be trading Mallett soon?

Sorry, couldn't resist. :bricks:

I think someone may have beaten you to it earlier.

I did a search but I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet. Considering BB's love for the 3-cone, it should be noted that Tebow finished joint 6th at the 2010 combine at the 3-cone drill. That's 6th overall with a time 0f 6.66 seconds. Using this and assuming combine results only (no pro days), this means Tebow has a better 3-cone time than any player on the roster. He's 240lbs. I think BB see's an opportunity to exploit that incredible athletic juxtaposition.

I think this will work out for the better and don't be surprised to see him shove it down the Jets throats more than once.

care to divulge what your team affiliation is?

I mean, you are NOT a Patriot fan.

Will you be posting regularly now that Tim is playing for the Patriots?

So you think the patriots are the nfl's department of social services? If NE wasted time on crap like that it would show.. they'd be playing like the jets every year.

I can only hope this is some type of insider BB practical joke on brady being replaced that we'll never hear about... It's the only thing that makes any sense, the guy has already proven himself the most worthless qb the nfl has ever seen so thats not it.

Here is the deal. if Tebow makes this team under the scenario that I have described, don't be surprised if Tebow jerseys more than pay for his salary and that alone is a zero-risk business proposition while BB determines what his role could be which in my view is as competition to Aiken as the long snapper, 4th TE and emergency QB.

That, in and of itself, is reason enough to see if Tebow is going to be a fit plus if he does play QB in the pre-season, that alone could help sell tickets.

OMG...who knew???...poor cash starved Bob Kraft and the Patriots...signing Tim Tebow to sell jerseys and tickets...and here I thought the Pats were one of the richest teams in the NFL with a staggering season ticket waiting list...the model NFL franchise...and now THIS blockbuster....reduced to hawking Tebow shirts to make money for the cash strapped franchise...I would have never guessed.

Grow up. This is a business and if BB feels that he can replace one-role Danny Aiken, then they are going to do it.

what has that response have to do with your idiotic assertion that the Pats got Tebow to sell things?...you could grow for 10,000 years and you'd still be a string bean brain. and FYI gnatbrain, they cut Kafka to make room right now for Tebow....have the nurse turn off your internet connection on the coma ward...krist

Just heard the news...

I have read all of your posts tonight. Do yourself a favor - Go to a convent or lock yourself in a closet if you don't want to hear the noise or you could simply just focus and discuss why BB brought him to New England.

I have given you the reasons why he is here. Deal with it.
