* Ye Olde 2013 Mock Draft Thread!! *

First I think they let Welker go and sign Hartline and Talib (for about what Welker wanted). Also let Vollmer go. Sign Jarius Byrd, FA as safety.

Then through various machinations...

2. DeAndre Hopkins WR (mid second round via trade down)
3. Reid Fragel OT
4. Markus Wheaton WR
4. Gerald Hodges LB
4. Brandon McGee / Leon McFadden / Terry Hawthorne CB
5. Gavin Escobar TE
6. Sio Moore LB
7. Cooper Taylor S

Big believer in Byrd and would love for him to come here. Changes the draft right away alongside the addition of Armstead. Kind of surprised you go with 2 wr's if they sign Hartline . I'm assuming Lloyd Stays and Edelman is resigned?

Highly doubt Wheaton will last until the 4th after his fantastic week of practice. Highly regarded as a day 2 pick now.

Overall getting Byrd, resigning Talib and adding Hartline is a step in the right direction. Team improved, tiny thing afterward is like gravy on top.

From top to bottom, that's a lovely mock although you're a little optimistic on some values (Wheaton in 4th, Escobar in 5th).

Sign Jarius Byrd, FA as safety.

Belichick should hire his dad as a coach, that way Pats might get a discount.

Although adding Gill Byrd as a secondary coach would be good business anyway. A guy who actually played CB in the NFL for 10 years and was a pretty decent player.

not sure but he was said to be a leader on the field and is a hard hitting safety i like cyprien more thats just my opinion

Cyprien has some excellent range. Is rightfully moving up draft boards.

My idea would be to let Welker walk:

Sign Dwayne Bowe

Draft - Matt Elam, Tavon Austin

Who cares about the rest this would be sick....I am sold on Elam after watching film on him, Austin is the electric slot receiver that we would lose in Welker and Bowe is the deep threat.....We would be golden....

Those 3 would be nice. Im only on board with bringing in Bowe if Talib or an equivalent cb can also be signed. Really like Austin and Elam but the only way your getting both is hoping one falls to the end of the first where we pick and then move way up into the 2nd. Even then it still not may be enough. They both may be first rounders.

Sign Dwayne Bowe and either Talib or Keenan Lewis.

Trade 29 and 61 to 18, one pick ahead of Gmen.

18- Ezekiel Ansah DE- I want a WR/S as much as next guy but I've seen and read enough, this kid is going to be special. He may not even last this far after the combine but I would love to trade up and get him.

93- Tyrann Mathieu CB- Our nickel back. I think he'll really excel there. Our Top 4 CBs would be Talib, Dennard, Mathieu and glass as the main backup on the outside.

7th-Kyle Juszczyk FB

7th-Colin Klein QB

It would be a weird draft and certainly disappointing in some people's eyes, but I feel both Jones and Ansah could be All-Pros and the best pass rushing duo in the league by 2014. If either go down you would still have fantastic depth in Ninkovich and Armstead.

Regarding safety, I hope Ebner or Wilson take the leap in the offseason to jump Gregory.

*trade* Ryan Mallet to Browns for #6 overall pick
1. #6 Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
*trade* #29 to PHI for #35 and 4th round pick
2. #35 Matt Elam, S, Florida
2. #59 Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon St.
3. Tank Carradine, DE, Florida State
4. Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU (susp.)
7. Kapron Lewis-Moore, DT, Notre Dame
7. Collin Klein, QB, Kansas State

Yes please!

I don't want Collin Klein though, but that's a nitpick.

My latest effort, trade back from the 1st and 3rd rounds.

2-DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
2-DJ Swearinger, S, S.Carolin-
3-Brian Winters, OL, Kent St
4-Mcfadden, CB, San Diego St
5-Knott, LB, Iowa St
7-Nick Kasa, TE, Colorado
7-Josh Boyd, DT, Mississipi St

I really don't like Milliner at #6. I'm not sold on him as a "shutdown cornerback" at all, much less as the best player available at 6th overall. A trade down and acquisition of a prospect of similar impact (Ziggy Ansah?) 5 or 10 picks later would be far preferable, because then we could get a corner who's just as good as Milliner in Trufant at pick 29. Mathieu in the 4th is something I can get behind though.

To expound on that, if we could get the trade to 6th overall done, it would be great to trade down to pick up a 3rd/4th, and still get Ansah in the early first.

#1 Ezekiel Ansah
#1 Desmond Trufant
#2 Brian Winters or another high end offensive line prospect
#3 Marquise Goodwin or Quinton Patton
#4 Da'Rick Rodgers

Such an outcome would offer exciting possibilities next season.

I think Ziggy could end up being the best player to come out of this draft. Considering how poor he looked in one-on-ones at the Senior Bowl, his actual game performance was as dominant as anything we saw last year from the likes of JJ Watt. There is so much raw talent and athleticism combined with length in Ziggy.

I agree that Ziggy has the most insane upside of just about anyone in this draft.

Question: Who has the most insane upside of anyone in this Draft??

Easy Ansah.

That is how it happens: Y'all start off, readily admitting that this "Mallett for #6" business is a Fantasy, as you build Mocks off of it...Just a little Fun. An Innocent Indulgence. Something for a chuckle or two...But sooner or later one of you just rolls it out there without an Asterisk...and before you know it, half the guys on this Board are gonna be doing the same thing!! Eventually, half the guys ~ maybe more ~ complete the process of convincing themselves that there's actually even a particle of Reality involved ~ as opposed to some Wonk pulling the idea straight out'f'is Colon, which is in fact exactly how this all got started.

I'm just concerned that upon Reality's Reentry, when all these #6 Dreams are suddenly shattered and cast to the wind, some'f you ~ having acquired an unexpected Addiction to #6 ~ are gonna be crushed.

Upon reality's re-entry, all of us are crushed. :bricks: All of our posting from August to April is dust in the wind come late April, and the only place that information is useful ever again is the "Told Ya So" section of the forum.
