Patriots fans taunted Torrey Smith about dead brother

Horrendous behaviour.

I hope they never see the inside of the razor again.

Oh, man.

Terrible behavior. I really hate people sometimes.

wow......pathetic

human nature, though......people (including players and their wives) turn to bitterness when they know they leave it all on the field.

if you do everything in your power to win and wind up short, there's acceptance to it and you can move on

sorry, but the pats organization is turning into a bunch of b1tches

If that's true, I'd like to apologize to Mr. Smith on behalf of the fanbase to which I belong. They're bad apples, they really don't represent the majority of us, and we're sorry.

To those people who did it, stop watching sports. You don't deserve the privilege of the experience if you can't stay within even a mile of proper perspective.

I'm not really a twitter user but aren't these tweets available to the public? and if so shouldn't these people be exposed? I know it's happened to others who were inappropriate.

I'm also wondering if these tweeters were indeed Pats fans. Maybe some were and may some weren't. Could you really put it past a fan of another team to intentionally do something like this to try and make Pats fans look bad?

thats very classless and evil to say someting about a dead family member

Sadly, there's stupid classless f#cks like this in EVERY fan base. EVERY SINGLE one.

I am a huge Patriot fan and earlier in the year, as pissed off I was that they lost versus the Ravens on that last second FG, I felt happy for Torrey Smith and how great of a game he played considering the circumstances. He is one of the few people on the Ravens who I respect as a player and person.

Wasn't there a somewhat similar situation with taunts from alleged Boston fans towards a player/team the Bruins were playing - and it turned out that they came from fans of other teams, posing as Boston fans?

Whoever it was doing that: not cool.

Unfortunately others are going to rush to judgement that this represents the entire city, entire region, and entire fan base; obviously that's not the case.

What's WRONG with some people?

Patriots fans should not be like those in Philadelphia, or like that collection of social rejects in Oakland.

Sober or not, grow up.

If people get that carried away with sports, they need to take a big step back and re-examine why the follow sports in the first place.

I know alcohol and sporting events can create a mob atmosphere but that is pathetic and completely insensitive.

For what it's worth, there is at least one Ravens fan who isn't in a position to point fingers on this topic, considering he said this first:

look at the Patriots bench looking like Myra Kraft died again

Today he is unapologetic, defending his comments:

Yup, just something I was feeling at the time. No different from what Wes Welker's wife did so chill!

MAN UP! it's just Twitter!

I SAY WTF I WANT! it's just twitter. If you don't like it... there's always the Unfollow button ***!

I can assure all Ravens fans that 99% of our fanbase would not even consider a classless comment like this one. We have respect for your team as good football players, and the matchups always provide good football. That's the way a rivalry is supposed to be.

I hope that people don't try to make too big of the ignorant comments made like this one, or the one about Myra Kraft from the Ravens fan.

As many stated, there are always a55holes in every fanbase, and unfortunately those comments sometimes get out to the media, especially in social media heavy age.

This comment is not any kind of indicator of the "class" of Patriot fans...at all, and I know that we would all personally apologize on his/her behalf for such ridiculous statements.
