It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Nice numbers but he also short-armed a nice ball and caused a deflection pick. This was probably due to him hearing footsteps after being hit a few times. His effectiveness may be limited compared to a Welker who can't be intimidated.Hernandez had 92 yards and a TD against the 49ers last week.
If I was a NFL WR, I would try to avoid being hit too. I have always loved fans calling players soft from the comfort of their computer.
No fan should ever say that an NFL player is "soft" or "slow" or "a bad player" without adding a modifier like "for an NFL player".
I think Hernandez is below-average in toughness for NFL TEs, and I said so earlier in the thread. But that's an elite group of tough guys he's being compared to ...

But Hernandez "the WR" is still not supposed to short-arm the ball and cause a pick. That was simply a mental error, one of fear getting the best of him. If he doesn't have the stones then they shouldn't ask him to make plays like that. They are dangerous plays and I wouldn't want to even see Gronk asked to take a big hit on his defenseless body for the hope of a five yard gain. It's like criticizing Woodhead for not stopping a charging NT cold.
Knee jerk reaction much? Hernandez did have a poor game and had a couple of drops no doubt. But lets not pretend that he's up and down and hasn't been playing well without GRONK. In the games since GRONK has been injured before the Jags he has gone for:
36 yards 2 Rec 0 TD (This was also his 1st game back from injury)
97 yards 8 Rec 0TD
58 Yards 8 Rec 2 TD
92 Yards 10 Rec 1 TD
Those games would actually suggest to me he has been quite consistant as a big part of this offense since GRONK has been out. He had a bad game against the Jags, i think many of our players did lets not start singling him out as an up and down inconsistant player because of this one bad game.
Thanks, Dr. Gill. Nice to get the inside scoop!I single Hernandez out because he is a highly skilled player. I don't doubt AH is hurting. This time of year everyone is hurting. What hurts the Hernandez apologists' cause is Wes Welker because NOBODY on that team takes more of a beating game in and game out than Wes Welker yet he plays hard and plays through pain/injury every game. I actually laughed when I read Greg Bedard's spin on Hernandez lack of production on Sunday. According to Bedard it's been a struggle for AH since he came back and his production has progressively waned over that time. Not true!!
My point is quite simple - highly talented players like Aaron Hernandez need to step it up when this offense is struggling. All too often on Sunday Brady was getting killed because players weren't fighting through to get open.
i would say he is average for TEs...nothing like gronk..but hernandez is different...more of a WR in my eyes.
I just about made a dartboard remark to a certain constantly pessimistic poster today. I swear, for some poeple, it's "How many darts should I throw at the 'who to whine about' dartboard today?"Why do I believe the same ones knocking Hernandez this week are the same ones who were calling for Gostkowksi's head a few weeks back, or Edelman's during the pre-season?
It's like roulette for some posters.
This has ben going on for years. It seems that there are a group of posters here that just has to find someone to hate on. And theres a long and distinguised list of players that fall into that category. Why do I believe the same ones knocking Hernandez this week are the same ones who were calling for Gostkowksi's head a few weeks back, or Edelman's during the pre-season?

Just a week ago Greg Bedard was spinning like a top and telling us Aaron Hernandez was so banged up he was on his death bed and it was so bad BB almost didn't play him against Jacksonville. Bedard did confess later after video review that Hernandez really didn't receive a lot of double teams from the Jags and the "he misses Gronk" excuse didn't fly in that game.
Then a Christmas miracle (or Tom Brady getting in his face) happened and the very same Aaron Hernandez looked sharp and crisp and was Brady's No 1 target in the 1st half yesterday.
Nice to have you back Aaron. Now keep the focus for 3 more games and you'll be wearing a shiny new ring.
