Chad Johnson #85 arrested - UPDATE - Released By Dolphins

I was wondering who would surface first. Evelyn isn't backing down...

“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday," the reality star wrote in an email via her publicist. "I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time," she wrote.

Evelyn Lozada Releases Official Statement About Ochocinco Incident: 'Chad Has Failed To Take Responsibility For His Actions'

And while Evelyn is no stranger to violence (at least against female castmates who cross her) and a small number of women are guilty of publicly making false accusations for whatever reason, it's pretty pathetic to see the number of men who remain so willing to demean and paint all women (they aren't related to) with a broad brush when it comes to domestic abuse particularly when one of their admired athletes is involved.

I don't know who instigated this or who headbutted whom, but it's not like this was Chad's first rodeo, either. He was also on thin ice with his home town team before the incident and contrary to public posturing he may have begun to realize that his act wasn't going to fly there much longer. I could imagine at that point the last thing he was up for was a confrontation with the sharp tongued new wifey over the implication of a condom receipt. Either one of them could have snapped under the circumstances, but she's the one with the stitches.

And lots of guys who never smoked (unless cigars count...) or drank have done a lot worse than headbutt the Mrs.

I think Mike Freeman of CBS may be on to something.

My opinion: I think Chad Johnson fooled us all. Me included. Straight up clowned us.

We have no idea who he really is. Not even sure he knows.

So you are going to use the unfortunate and honestly sad situation of another man to point out how great you are......this is why I hardly post on this forum anymore, a bunch of clowns.

Don't let people like him drive you off - just use the ignore function with a heavy hand. For every weirdo who takes a victory lap every time a negative prediction comes true, there's at least two worthwhile, intelligent posters.

Domestic disputes are not usually one-sided nor simple. I imagine both parties are at least somewhat to blame here. From the 911 call, it really doesn't sound that serious. She had a cut on her head but it wasn't even bleeding. I tend to think the media is making a bigger deal out of this than it really was, as usual. Still, violence on any level is unacceptable as Chad is now finding out.

The cut required stitches, Haley. It wasn't bleeding profusely a half hour after the incident, which was what the neighbor seemed to be trying to explain to the 911 dispatcher who was asking him if he knew how to use a tourniquet...

And while this incident may not be one sided or simple, the majority domestic disputes are - despite the abusers insistance they were purposefully driven to it.

I don't recall anyone in here predicting Chad would attack and hit a woman...especially his wife,so I don't get your 'prediction' part.

I thought he was an as$hole BEFORE this incident...and now I think he is a low life aS$hole for a hitting a woman....A REAL man walks away from a confrontation, not take physical action on a woman half his size.

I can't EVER condone a man doing crap like this......IF in fact this all comes out to be facts.

You're being every bit as bad as those "number of men". You're just doing it from the other side of the table.

Almost any cut to the head requires stitches to prevent scarring. And the exact words were "it isn't bleeding". "Profusely" was never part of the sentence. You added that.

In any case, it isn't good. But it is clear that the media is making this out to be bigger than it is. As far as domestic violence goes, as you yourself pointed out, this isn't a major case.

You said she had a cut to her head "but it wasn't even bleeding". Maybe she has a good clotting factor... If it were still bleeding half an hour after the incident maybe the neighbor would have found her passed out on his doorstep and that would make it more serious? The man said he was helping her clean up a little and at one point he says wipe yourself... When asked if he knows how to use a tourniquet he says it's a nice cut but the bleeding has stopped (ergo it's not bleeding profusely as they speak...). And I didn't say it isn't a major case, you inferred that yourself, somewhat oddly I might add, by saying it wasn't serious because her cut wasn't bleeding. Domestic abuse isn't often taken seriously or treated like a major case by the media unless someone dies or celebrities are involved.

Do not blame the media. Evelyn Lozada elected to to issue a press release through her publicist. She is choosing to keep this story on the front page.

To preserve some dignity and buy time to determine the next best step for everyone involved, most celebs say nothing at all, or issue a statement asking for the media to honor a request for privacy during difficult times.

Her statement did neither of those things.

From Radar Online today:

"Beverly Shiner, 30, made the groundbreaking revelation to RadarOnline.com that she dated Johnson from January until May this year, during which time Evelyn was elbow-deep in wedding plans – and she claims that the unabashed adulterer didn't even try to hide his deceit.

After first making contact by following him on Twitter, Shiner claims that 34-year-old Chad sent a personal message to her with his number inviting her out for dinner.

"I Googled him before we met and saw he was engaged, but at the time there were reports that she had broken it off because she thought he was cheating, so I assumed they had split up," she told Radar.

But when she got over to his Foxborough, Massachusetts, home she found women's toiletries in the bathroom and realized they were clearly still very much a couple.

"While I was there he called Evelyn and asked if she could order a pizza to be delivered for him, and even had her pay for it on her credit card," Shiner told Radar. "I thought it was odd and wondered if she was really his fiancee or just a secretary."

Actually I'm not since statistics would tend to back my general contention up and I thought someone should play devil's advocate. Incidences of false reporting represent a small fraction of all domestic abuse reporting, smaller still (<2%) in instances of rape. And incidences of female on male abuse constitutes about 15% of reported abuse. And before you play the under reported card, all abuse is.

There are more than 1 million instances of fraudulent domestic abuse claims every year. Also, somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of all domestic violence is committed by women upon men, and it happens at all levels of seriousness.

And your claim about rape is nowhere near accurate. More than 20% of rape claims are false claims.

The statistics don't back you up, at all. However, I'm not going to drag this thread down further than it's already gone by continuing down this path. Suffice it to say that your "devil's advocate" position is every bit as off as the positions you're claiming to be countering.

Like Freeman said, he clowned everyone. His whole life has been an act, on and off the field, and self promotion was always his ultimate goal.
Not a bad guess. It happens all the time. What's bothersome is making guys like this into heroes. Now that is troubling.

But why make any of them into real life heroes? They're football players. They earn a living playing games. This is like our Soap Opera or something.

True but it's also true that they have dropped this matter from the reality show plan. This is not a publicity stunt for the show. Getting publicity in a rape case is probably pretty necessary.

Sad if reports are true. Always liked Chad and was really disappointed he never took off in the offense here.

Don't know if it matters in here but Lozado just filed for divorce from Chad Johnson...per EEI a few minutes ago...

Did anyone argue otherwise?

You forgot to post a link...Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson Cheated On Evelyn Lozada Just Before Wedding, Claims Alleged Former Mistress | Radar Online

Now if Beverly claimed to have been attacked by Evelyn I'd have had no doubt she was.

Mr. fan friendly... Like Freeman said, he clowned everyone. His whole life has been an act, on and off the field, and self promotion was always his ultimate goal.

Sorry about the link Mo - true sentiment expressed here..self promoter first, athlete second. Bet there will be more coming out of the woodwork in the coming days....
