My dream is sign Steven Jackson but... I think not at this time .

I don't know why anyone would be against signing this guy if the price was right.

I dont see anyone saying they don't want him, just, like yourself, not at 7 mill.

The first 3 pages are mostly all negative and this guy isnt even injured as much as people think. People on this board are turning up there noses at Steven Jackson after being fed the slop we have had a Rb the last 4 years or so lol..wow.

It's amazing really. I understand that Ridley and Vereen are rookies, so they have that fresh hype on 'em. But come on, they haven't proven anything and both had trouble cracking the lineup in a weak backfield already.

Ridley had the 2nd most carries on the team and Vereen plays the same role as Woodhead.

Second most carries behind a RB that the team decided a modest contract was too much to pay for. That should tell you something. And Woodhead was terrible last year.

You are obviously not a real patriots fan if you aren't aware of how many carries Ridley had last season and you say vereen 'hasn't proven anything'.... he was injured/not at full strength all season, what do you expect?

I'm not a real Patriots fan? What am I the Pinocchio of Patriots fans then? I'm sorry, but Ridley / Vereen are just two unproven second year players that the coaching staff refused to put in any meaningful situations.

I know you're a troll. I saw the avatar picture you used initially (Wes' drop in the super bowl)

You're not even worth the effort. You need a life instead of trolling other teams forums

Where can I get a life at? Just asking, since you seem to know everything.

I believe there is an ignore option if you are some how offended by my posting. I never claimed to be a kool-aid drinker.

You've been registered here only 24 hours - - what kind of track record are you talking about?

About another poster getting upset with the fact that I claimed earlier in the thread that Ridley and Vereen were unproven.

I don't think the thread is negative, unless you consider being realistic about the age and wear and tear of the player negative.
Comparing him to Corey Dillon and Fred Taylor certainly isn't negative.
Unless you want to pretend he is 24 and only has 900 touches in his career, I don't know how this thread is negative.

We need to find around 8-10 goal line touchdowns, is Ridley that man? That's a lot of touchdowns for someone unproven on the goal line. We should address this with someone. Then there's everything else we'd get from SJAX.

Cedric Benson will probably cost around what Benny got. At this point letting Benny go seems a little premature.

On a related side note, The Rams brought in Lamar Miller RB for a workout. That would be a late First or early Second round pick. They're open to moving SJAX or so it seems.

I think BB has a lot more confidence in Ridley and Vereen than we do.

Steven Jackson has ~2200 carries on his legs. Whether you're LT, Steven Jackson, or Thurman Thomas this is about the time your legs start to go. I'm not saying Steven Jackson couldn't put up 1000 yards here(also, who says Ridley or Vereen can't) but for how long can he do that and at what cost? Even if the price is right, we have two young players at that position who we need to find out about.

You have to strike a balance there and I don't think it adds up for Steven Jackson.

Just curious, b/c I'm not usually one to jump on a new guy for being a troll, but if you aren't---what in the HELL would possess you to want to use Welker's dropped pass as your avatar?

As far as Ridley's services last yr, he produced the 2nd leading ypc for all rookies in 2011--that's certainly something to go on. He already has a year in the system, and I wouldn't see any reason why he won't be as productive as BJGE was. BJGE was hardly worth the money that would've been spent, especially for a running back by committee system who just drafted 2 high picks last yr, and tends to pass the majority of the time with one of the deadliest passing attacks in the entire NFL. Choosing to NOT spend that kind of money on Green-Ellis (even if it wasn't considered 'a lot') is what makes this team successful in the salary cap era. Let some other stupid front office make those mistakes. This one was an obvious no-brainer, and I was a huge BJGE supporter.

Vereen was the 2nd/3rd best RB rated in the whole draft last year. He's like a brand new free pick for this year. An extra 2nd round pick, along with Dowling too. That's insane when you think about it. At least 2 more extra high draft picks that we didn't even have playing last year.

After the draft next weekend, there will be a handful of high round draft picks who will be contributing who weren't here/contributing last season. I can't think of too many teams who will have that kind of luxury in 2012--if any at all.

S-Jax has been the best player on the Rams for a long time, and was still running hard at the end of last season. He'd be a steal for a 3rd or 4th round pick. He would immediately help us to win games.
