FTW, Brother WolfPack!!

"Better" ~ which is all WolfPack said ~ merely means "better".

"obviously better ~ which he never said ~ implies a yawning gap in quality.

Sombody's imagination is running away with them, again.

It will be tough for Richardson to get past the Browns and Bucs and even if he does the Rams would be stupid for taking a RB there when they have so many other holes. The excuses they use in the article on why the Rams will take him sound like smoke screen.

On the other note, if the Rams do draft Richardson I think an immediate call to them about Jackson is appropriate

Is there a drama folder that some things can be entered into?

Let's get back to some football.

Re: Speculation: Can you say Wow!

Should the unlikely occur and Richardson falls to STL, I definitely think this is an offer the Patriots would have to consider. I really like Ridley and Vereen but Steven Jackson is one of those guys that Belichick loves.

Obviously he has some wear and tear on him but he wouldn't be asked to do as much in this offense as he did in STL. He is also a great team leader and locker room guy.

I could see Trader Bill giving up a 3rd or a 4th for him. He would get that pick back on draft day through his deals any way.

At first I thought a 3rd might be too high but then remembered that the Patriots used a 3rd to trade for Branch, who was a bust in Seattle. Obviously WR is more important to this offense and Branch had a history with the team but still I think a 3rd was pretty generous.

This guy is Dillion 2.0, anyone who doesnt want him hasnt watched him play the last few years. I would love to have him on the pats this is the big back we have been missing and he can catch. Now I dont want him at 7mill but hes got 3 good years left in him and for the right price would be a huge addition.

I dont see anyone saying they don't want him, just, like yourself, not at 7 mill.

Yes, 7 million for one of the best running backs in the league is way too much but paying guys like Dan Koppen or Chad Ochocinco 3+ million is completely fine.

OK, glad we agree.

Wow! A solid NFL player might potentially be on the trading block in the future, possibly. This is huge news for the New England Patriots.

I would be all for him coming to the Pats but if I'm not mistaken, didn't we pass up on him in the draft a few years ago? I remember wanting him so badly.

I would be psyched if this was 3-4 years ago that is for sure....but right now...he is on the downside of his career....not really a "wow" factor at this point. Pats will go with Ridley, vereen (hopefully if his glass doesn't shatter again), and Woody...and probably draft another RB late.....

Rams | Steven Jackson, Trent Richardson unlikely to share backfield
Mon, 16 Apr 2012 07:39:39 -0700

The St. Louis Rams would presumably either trade or release RB Steven Jackson if they select Alabama RB Trent Richardson in the NFL Draft. The team will not pay Jackson $7 million in 2012 to share the job with a player certain to eclipse him soon. Head coach Jeff Fisher reportedly loves Richardson.

He can catch ........... AND he's on my fantasy team! LOL!.

Seriously, if he's willing to take a paycut (as opposed to being cut) he can give us a couple of years at 15 touches a game (Wow! in fourth quarter). One thing about Steven Jackson is he's a killer in December.

Back to Earth, again he'd have to take the pay cut ................. I can see the Jets targeting him . Finally, this ASSUMES the Rams draft Richardson.

Jackson is still a top 5 back in the NFL. Amazing the disrespect he's getting here. Guy is as complete a back there has been in the league since he's been around, can run catch and block, and is still only 29. Now, 7 mil is too much, but if he can be had for 3-4 mil, you have to do that.

yeah...but 29 is old for a RB....especially with the amount of mileage that Jackson has racked up. He(( he WAS their offense for every year he has been there practically. Guy has been a phenomenal ballplayer in his career....but he is on the downslope and looking for that last big payday.....good for him.....bad for us!

If I remember correctly from "War Room," the Patriots wanted to take him with their second first round pick (they used their first on Wilfork). Obviously he didn't last that long and they took Watson.

They even tried to trade up for him, but St. Louis beat them to it.

I would personally not trade for any RB coming into his 9th season. That is a lifetime for RBs, and when they lose it, it goes FAST. Now, I wish we drafted him all those years ago, but now is not the time to get him IMHO. Of course, if we drafted him, we would not have big Vince, so let me take that back.

He'd be a beast in this offense imo if he could stay healthy a couple more seasons. I could take him or leave him though due to age and wear.. If he was looking at a shot for the Big Game and was willing to sign a 2 year incentive laden contract I'd be all for it though.

He's not as injury prone as some here say. 2007 and 08 he played 12 games each season. 9,10 and 11 he played 15,16 and 15. All while taking on 8 and 9 men in the box sometimes. He'd be a wrecking machine in our offense.

At the most I'd be willing to part with a 4th for the guy although I would prefer BB manufacture a 5th and offer that to them.

Steven Jackson is a fantastic person and player but he is tired legs. The Rams ran him into the ground during all of their mediocre years. We would be getting him on the decline and as we know, the decline of an RB is fast.

What about his play would indicate that he's declining?

He would be Corey Dillon without the baggage. Sign the man.
